Just as the title says;
How long does it take you to polish your guitar after you've finished playing? Do you polish it? How careful and thorough are you?
I usually take about five minutes polishing my guitar, and I am very thorough.

I've never tried polishing my guitar before. Are there any benefits to it? What do you use? I think it's something I should get into, is why I ask...
The closest I've come to polishing my guitar is applying some Fast Fret to clean the strings and the fret board. I usually do that at least once a Week, if not, every couple of weeks.

I jumped on the topic so fast because I have friends who actually have stuff to polish their guitar. They never told me why they did it though, so this topic excited me =x

I give my acoustic a rub-down with a polishing cloth and some Dunlop polish every now and then when it gets really smudged. My Les Paul's finish isn't shiny, so I don't have to worry about it.

They're probably using it to keep the guitar super shiny. That's usually the reason why people put chemicals on their guitars.

They never told me why they did it though, so this topic excited me =x I personally use the Dunlop 65 package. It comes with everything. I usually use the polish to get all the dust, and grime off the body first, and use it on the hardware. Once I finish that I use the wax on the body to keep it shiny longer, and help somewhat protect the guitar from scratches.

I hate it when people get their grimy mitts all over my guitar...I'm a bit of a neat freak.
So it takes me about 25- 30 minutes to clean it. First I clean it with a damp towel, then I use turpentine, then I use soap, then I wipe it with a damp towel again, and then I dry it. I do that every fortnight.
I think inhaling too much turps can kill you. The soap is just to get rid of the smell of turpentine.
