Dole walked slowly in the tree-filled forest with an air about him. It wasn't a snobby air. It wasn't a self-important air, either. It was simply one of grace. The bright leopard seemingly glided along the green floor, avoiding any puddles or dirt when he could. It might not show up very well on his dark coat, but he could feel it, and if it added extra weight, it wouldn't make him very graceful, now would?
Besides: who could ever look graceful with a fur coated with dirt and grime? If he had to, he could probably pull it off anyway. But why bother.
He made his way towards the area's local, small waterfall and pounced into a tree with the grace his species gave him. Purring slightly, Dole climbed upwards and around until he found the perfect branch to rest on. He lay down and curled up for an afternoon nap.

 The sway of branches and scent of another woke Nyx as she bobbed without even trying to do so. Blue eyes blinked and scanned the tree, wondering if some sort of tree creature had joined her. Yawning and rising from her own nap, Nyxeria creeped along the trunk with an eager expression and her tail swaying to and fro.
What could it possibly be?
Then she saw the flash of blue through the foliage and paused, tilting head. Whatever it was, it was a pretty colour. Once she got to the thickest branches, she descended with ease and dropped down onto the branch Dole had chosen for his perch. "Oh! It's a you!" She seemed pleased by the discovery and sat with a smile upon her face, "Another leopard~ Greetings! I thought you were a different tree creature." A soft laugh at that.

Surprised, Dole blinked and raised his head to look at the pretty female before him. "Aye, me," he said softly in reply with a smile curling on his face. "Greetings to you as well. What brings you here? I had no thought to check this tree for another inhabitant; forgive me." He bowed his head gracefully in apology.
His coat was bright indeed, and very well stood out in all this green, but so did hers. It was a lovely pale gold and yellow gold color, with interesting markings. And bright blue eyes. He liked bright eyes. His own were a nice purple, anyway.

"I was just resting. The waterfall's beautiful, I love the sounds it makes." She nodded in the direction of the crashing water, "Oh, it's fine really. I like company." Nyx bobbed her head hastily when he bowed his, looking a little sheepish.
"Coming to nap too?" Ears flicked and tilted at the sounds of creatures around them as she smiled, "Where did you come from?"

Ah, see. That was the exact same reason he had walked the long distance from his den to this particular tree by the waterfall. The sound helped lull him to sleep.
"I agree with you there. The water certainly does make a calming noise." He glanced over to the falling whites and blues and smiled at them.
"Yes, I enjoy napping. It keeps my energy up and I'm ready for anything at anytime," he returned, moving his head back to face her. "I come from a bit east, that way." His tail flicked slowly in the direction. "My home is there, anyway. I'm fond of exploring and happened upon this area one day. Ever since, I've been returning to it every day to take my nap. It's my favorite place."
He paused, tilting his head to look her over more.
"What about yourself? Where did you come from?"

"Easy to think." She nodded, "Oh. I like exploring too. I've been trying get gazelles and other creatures to stay still long enough to speak with them and learn about them but they all run. It's not like I'm trying to eat them or anything..." She trailed off with a sigh.
"Me? I come from, well, I don't know. Everywhere and nowhere I guess you could say." She shrugged a shoulder and winked at him, "I don't really have a home, I just travel and explore... was thinking of heading north after this. There's lots of herds up there and there's bound to be more leopards and cheetahs and lions."

He chuckled, imagining his mind the leopardess prancing up to gazelle after gazelle, wanting only to talk with the herd animals, but in fact the poor things fled in fright from the predator.
"Perhaps grazers are not worth learning about, then, if they only run away from what they know as danger?" From what he'd seen in hunting, gazelles recognized anything with teeth and claws as bad.
North? His ears gracefully pricked upwards.
"I've not been North before; are there really other leopards there?" He was a bit intrigued to know where to go to meet new leopards. Dole hadn't met many of his kind, really. The curiosity was overwhelming.

"How do you know what's worth it and what's not if you don't at least try to see what their world is like? I'm sure once I find a herd that doesn't spook so easily, they'll learn to just accept me since I'm not trying to eat them."
It was her turn to laugh, "I would think so - I've never been north before so I thought I'd try. A lot of the herds were moving that way so... where there's food, there's more of our kind, yes? You're welcome to join me if you want." She tilted her head to the side, a curious look upon her features as she pondered whether or not he'd been trying to ask that.

Properly chastised, albeit gently and politely, Dole's ears flicked backward for a moment and he bowed his head in defeat to her.
"This is true," he mumbled. "I should have thought of that. I'm sure that when you try again, you will succeed." He offered an encouraging smile to support his words.
Travel with a girl? With her? By themselves? As appealing as it sounded. the leopard wasn't sure if he was ready for such a thing. Not only had he not spent time with another female besides his mother, growing up, but he had only just met this leopardess. Then again, she was going a place that could mean exploring, and with a partner, it wouldn't look so daunting. And he would also be there to help/protect/anything else for her. Which was a male's duty, after all.
Decisions, decisions.
"I'm grateful for your invitation; however, I'll have to think about it. I've not left this area for some time and though the idea of travel is exciting, the decision is not a complete 'yes,' if you will." He bowed his head again in apology.
((ooc : which would give them an excuse to meet again, so he can tell her his decision~

"I hope so." She smiled in return, "I travel until I do, in any case." Nyx paused as he seemed to ponder her question then wondered if she should have asked it all, as she hadn't meant to make the other uncomfortable.
When he answered, she nodded carefully, "No, that's fine. You'll know where to find me if you want to walk with me. I like company." Taking that as a cue to leave, she turned to go. Jumping to a lower branch, she smiled up at him, "I'll stay in the area for a few days then. I'm not quite done exploring yet."

He watched her with a calm gaze as she hopped down onto a lower branch. "Of course. I'll let you know as soon as I can," he bowed his head again and remained where he was on his branch.
Night was falling; the sky was becoming darker by the minute and Dole prepared for bed once Nyx was gone. He stretched and yawned, curling tighter around his branch before drifting off to sleep.
