Yeah! I played Abracadabra when I was in 8th grade. That was one of my favorite pieces I've ever played in my entire band life.

Yeah, I played Vesuvius, which was written by him, that song was the most fun to play out of all the songs that I've played.

Definitely my favorite music writer ever.
Luckily our BD's like him too so we play lit. by him.
So far I've played Abracadabra, Cajun Folk Songs, Joy, Portrait of a Clown, Shenandoah, { though not all of these with the school band. played some at a summer camp too. } and we're HOPEFULLY going to be playing Loch Lomond soon. All easy songs I know but our Symphonic band is full of stupid freshmen who can't shut their traps long enough to play good.
Annnd our Wind Symphony did Blue Shades last year and this year they played Symphony No. 2 { MY FAVORITE SONG IN THE WORLD! }
Not being in Wind Symphony I was pissed I couldn't play SN2.

He wrote Shenandoah? We played that in symphony in...
I think 7th grade, but it might of been eighth. I lost the music(like half my middle school music. Strange, music that is slow and slightly boring disapears while fun music reapears three years later 0.o) so i can't check if he wrote it. Otherwise, I neve rheard of him.

Yeah all of our spring concert music last year was by him: An American Elegy, Nitro, and Simple Gifts: Four Shaker Songs. Then at band camp (not marching band, different camp) we played Abracadabra and Cajun Folk Songs II.
