It was growing late for the pride, and Chandana had been relieved of her duty for some time now. She had found herself a nice rock just outside the pride heart and had reclined upon it. Her belly was full and the last rays of the sun warmed her pelt before the cooler night was coming.
Ever since that small realization when she was talking to Nita, she had been letting the idea of getting pregnant roll around in her head. If the members they were waiting for never came home, their strength would lie in the next generation. It was just a question of who, and when at this point.

She'd wandered a bit away from her babysitter when she'd spotted another of the adult lionesses lying around. It was one of the older members, she remembered that from a dream but had never heard the adults name. She figured that she would get a talking to for wandering away but at least she was just wandering to another lioness. That was at least safe.
Putting her paws on the rock she looked up at the lioness. "You're a hunter aren't you?"

The little voice had shocked her out of her thoughts and her green eyes quickly began to search for the source. When she found the little cub beside her rock, it was not at all what she had expected. She recognized the cub as one of the ones that had rumors flying everywhere and she knew, beyond doubt, that this cub would have been watched at all times. She'd be in trouble if her sitter found out she was missing, no doubt.
"Yes, I'm a hunter, but I've been helping patrol a bit too," she said in answer, scooting slightly over on her rock and motioning the cub to jump up. If she was determined to be out here, at least Chandana would keep her close enough so that nothing could just barge in and attack her - and close enough to keep her from running away as well.

She scrambled up onto the rock and plopped down beside the lioness with a smile. "I thought only boys did that?" She tipped her head slightly. She'd only seen boys on the borders in her dreams, maybe she'd missed something. "Do you like hunting?"

"Well, it's only for a little while, you see. There aren't enough boys right now to do it, so some of us girls have to take their place," she nodded at this, an affectionate smile forming for the little one. "When the boys come back, I'll just be a huntress again." And glad of it, for sure. Patrolling was a worrisome job - she always expected to find one of the rogues and have to fight or run for her life to warn the others. It rattled her nerves if she thought too hard about it.
"Yes, I enjoy it more than patrolling. It's my job to give back to the pride," she tilted her head, content to answer all the little questions the cub had. That was what cubs did after all, wasn't it?

"Ohh.." That made sense. Her mother had been telling her things about the pride and that seemed like something that one should do. If you didn't help what good were you to the whole? She would have to remember that when she grew up.
Her tail ticked behind her as she listened to the other. "Is it hard work? Mum's strong and she's a hunter so that's where she got it right?"

"It's not too hard, no. It's what we're born to do, lionesses. We just do it a little different in this pride than others because we hunt for everyone and not just ourselves." She shrugged though, leaning her head down onto her paws as her bright green eyes rolled up to look at the cub where she was sitting. "We can actually hunt bigger prey because we work together, more than if we were simply hunting alone. That makes sense, doesn't it?" She didn't want to confuse the cub with a lot of jabbering.

She thought about that for a moment and nodded. "That makes sense .... cause a bunch of you could make up the difference between one and a elephant." She didn't think that they'd be bringing down something that big but they could if they really tried and if there were enough of them. "Hunting seems like it would be fun but still hard work."
Her mother had mentioned training and things and she bet that it wasn't easy to learn how to bring something down or easy to learn how to work perfectly with your sisters.

She couldn't help the small laugh that escaped her maw at that, shaking her head amusedly. "Yes, I suppose that we could bring down an elephant if we really wanted, though I bet that would be hard work." She smiled and tilted her head a bit, thinking, "but you're right, it is fun, even if it is a job."
With a little smirk to her lips then, she pushed herself up into a sitting position. "Does your sitter know you're out here little one?"

She shook her head slightly. "No, but i figured since they're just over there," She waved with a paw back toward her sisters and sitter. "and you were over here that i would be alright." She smiled. She knew she was safe so long as she was near someone else from the pride.

She smirked at the little cub, amused at her answer. It was just like a cub to go wandering off, wasn't it? The more time she spent with the little one, the more she felt her heart growing warm at the idea of a few of her own. She had never really considered cubs before and some might think it odd of her to be considering cubs before a mate, but she was none-the-less.
"Well, yes, but you're going to give them a scare if they realize you're gone and can't find you right away," she tilted her head down at her, her eyes glancing back to the failing light of the setting sun, "especially with the sun about to go down."

"Mm..." She looked back toward where her sitter was. "I should probably get back then. Before i get in too much trouble."
She got up and hopped down from the rock with only minimal scrambling. Once she was on her feet she shook herself off and grinned up at the lioness. "It was nice meeting you." With that she bounded off back toward where her sisters were.

"Nice meeting you too, little one," she said with a gentle smile, calling out after the little one had bounded off. She pushed herself up off of the rock she was lying on, stretching her limbs a bit as she watched her bound off. Once she was finally sure she was back inside her safe haven.
She began to stroll back into the pride heart, fresh thoughts on her mind, though her decision was finally made for her. She'd do her duty to the pride and ease her loneliness a little in the process. It would give Arun someone to play with at least.
