At this time of year, most would find themselves warmly tucked into their beds, safe in their little houses. Though, this did not include the little family of Sylvera and Lasuk. In fact, winter had to be one of their favorite seasons to be out and about it. This of course made sense to why the boys hatched in December.

On this evening, the still new mother and her young son found themselves sitting outside the incense shop waiting for the first snow flake. Lately it had been one of the things Adriel had wanted to do most, besides go out and borrow new books for about a week. He was a quick learner, despite still talking slightly like aunt Rhapsody. Sylvera knew that Lasuk would not tolerate that, so she herself had been busy working on it with him. It left little time for Ev, Elizabeth, and Sofia but what had to be done just had to be done.

"Momma, do you tink we will see no today?" The little kyunru was looking into the sky, then at his momma, and finally back to the sky. His eyes were brown with a line of blue in each, both which were currently shinning in the light. His pure white hair was also shinning, and his tail flicked back and forth as he waited. ""We may see some snow today, but we may not. You never know. We may see someone else today." She smiled down at him, both of their hair blowing in the breeze.

Adriel knew who was coming, and smiled at his mother. Jumping up, he ran around the shop at least three times before taking a break to rest. He could not wait to see who was coming, and who he was probably bringing with him.

The air was crisp and cool, the perfect weather for two creatures of winter. Both were fluffy, though their colors contrasted quite a bit. Little Antheô's merle eyes glanced about curiously as he held onto the small puff of charcoal fuzz at the end of his father's tail. He was still quite new to the world and was curious to see all the new sights.

The leader of the train glanced back at his son only to have the strangely colored eyes of his boy momentarily looking up to meet his. It was only a moment, but the little pale figure puffed up as much as he was able to try and match his Daddy. After all, that would make the Kyuria proud!

Lasuk chuckled and looked back ahead of him to find that the Incense shop was close enough that he could even see two familiar figures. A small smile came across his dusty colored maw. All the Kyuria knew was that he was there to meet up with his mate and his younger son. However, it looked like the two were looking for something in the sky. He was pretty swift on his feet, and he was able to figure out what they were doing.

Has it already been a year since Sylvera and I were doing the same thing? He smiled, then spoke up to explain to his pale shadow. "Antheô, maybe if we are lucky, we'll end up seeing some snow tonight."

The little unicorn spirit gazed up with curious eyes and repeated the word he wasn't certain of, despite still have a mouth filled with fluff. "Noh?"

Lasuk nodded his head and kept going forward. He'd explain further when he got to the meeting spot.

Sylvera was first to spot them, particularly Antheô because of his pure white pelt. "Look who I see!" Sylvera whispered happily as her older son and partner approached. She was glad that they could make it, and that both looked well. She and Adriel had only seen them shortly before they had to return home, and the little kyunru was itching to see them both again. Perhaps just as much, if not more, excited as he was to see his first snowflake.

Adriel's eyes moved from the sky to his father and brother, and a huge grin grew over his face. Bouncing up and down, he yelled, "Bro-ther! Dadda! Ant-e-o! Dadda!" Rushing over to them, he found his breaks were not working so well, and he bounced right into Antheô. With a thud and a laugh he fell over on his back, and found his mother smiling down upon him. "Now Adriel, what do you say when you do something on accident?" Though the smile was still there, her voice was completely serious. Rolling to sit up, the frosted ash kyun looked right at his brother, and apologized. "Addy say sowwy when he wolls into his bro-ther."

This apology would have been alright, except he was speaking like Rhapsody, and Vera knew that was something Lasuk would not take from his children. "We've been working on getting that fixed," she assured before going to preen his newly colored coat. "You look quite handsome, by the way," Sylvera cooed into his ear. Grossing out little Addy, he proceeded to stick out his tongue in a yuck fashion. Parents being sweet to each other could sometimes icky, and now was an example.

Both the ears of father and son perked up. Both turned to see who was there, but as it turned out, Adriel was already there on top of his brother. Literally. Antheô let out a squeak and ended up tugging Lasuk's tail quite a bit. However, the Kyuria was an adult and grit his teeth rather than yelping in pain. Hopefully every greeting wouldn't be so painful.

Antheô stood up at the first chance he could get and shook himself off. Then his merle eyes looked over the current company. When he finally realized he was with family, he let go of Lasuk's aching tail and sat down next to his brother. Despite being a bit older, it seemed he didn't quite understand. Being a bit of a parrot, he repeated the one word his brother said that he wasn't sure of: "Sowwy?" He tilted his head in question, but then turned to his brother and simply repeated the foreign word a few more times. "Sowwy, sowwy, sowwy!"

Lasuk had meandered over to Sylvera, who was now helping him with his fur. While she busied herself with that, he busied himself nursing his tail. Each and every time words were mispronounced because of baby talk, his ears flattened a bit. And Antheô's last attempts at saying the one word left the new father's ears completely flat against his skull. Despite the ear-sore, he wouldn't voice disapproval now. They were only a few days old after all. "Yes, I am quite sure we will... and thank you, lovely."

Unlike his younger brother, Antheô watched his parents together almost mesmerized. It made no sense to him, but obviously his Daddy was doing another amazing thing. What, he didn't quite know yet, but it had to be pretty amazing to be making Mommy smile like that.

While Sylvera continued to groom Lasuk's newly colored pelt, Adriel shifted his attention to Antheô. He knew that every kyunru was telepathic, and wondered if maybe he and his brother had too been gifted with such a thing. Since they were only half kyun, he worried that it would be something he was not capable of. Maybe if he tried, and it worked both ways, they could converse better. Sure they both needed to practice their English, this tongue everyone else spoke in, but surely being able to talk in their native language was easier and would be more clear.

Walking over to his brother, he laid a paw on his head and closed his eyes. It took him several tries to feel or hear something different, and finally he could hear the voice in his head echoed as if also in someone else's mind. "Can you here me?" he asked, eyes opening to look at his older brother. Did it work?

While this was going on, Sylvera watched them curiously, eyes moving from one son to the other. Why was Adriel's paw on Antheô's head? Was her older son getting a headache, and her younger son trying to help? If so, why were Adriel's eyes closed? Curiosity got the best of her, and finally she just had to ask if maybe Lasuk could figure out what those two boys were up to.

"Boys will be boys, but right now I cannot for the life of me figure out what Adriel is doing to Antheô." Her eyes met his and she shrugged.

Antheô had been quite content watching his parents, but then something distracted him greatly. His brother had decided that the pale Kyunru would make a swell paw-rest. Antheô's maw twisted up a bit in confusion as he now stared at his brother who wasn't even looking back for the longest time. By the time his brother would open his eyes, he'd have two large mostly-blue eyes fixated in him, almost screaming out "WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!!!" If it wasn't obvious from the look being given, Adriel's efforts were in vain and Antheô had heard nothing.

The father of the boys returned the shrug and offered a possibility: "Brotherly bonding?" The Kyuria puffed up slightly, gave his sweetheart a quick lick to the cheek, then padded forward to the fawns. Glancing to Antheô first, since he hadn't received a proper explanation about what to look for in the night sky, then to Adriel, he smiled and began a brief explanation.

"As I was mentioning on the way here, we might possibly see some snow tonight, boys. Snow is a white powder made of ice that comes down from the sky. Usually is it nice and gentle at this time of year." He looked to the boys to see if there was any sort of understanding going on.

The look on Antheô's face shocked him, and quickly he yanked his paw back to his side. "Soree," was all he could manage to say as he looked down, feeling stupid for what he had just tried to accomplish. And though the 'soree' was not quite 'sorry,' it was better than 'sowwy' which Adriel had learned annoyed his father. In the end, he guessed it was better to annoy his brother than Lasuk, but in truth it was better not to annoy either.

Eyes moving back up, he spotted his Dad kiss his Mom on the cheek before he came to speak with them. Looking around Lasuk to see Sylvera, he could see that she was blushing, and trying to hide a sweet giggle. That was something she only did when Daddy was around, or when he (Adriel) had done something cute. In his mind, he pictured the time he was towel dried and puffed up like cotton ball. It made all the females in the house giggle, which for some reason or another bothered him. That was an instance where girls giggling was like nails on a chalkboard. Otherwise, he loved it.

He continued to watch Vera until Lasuk spoke of snow. Catching his ear, Adriel's eyes moved to watch his father's mouth, trying to catch everything and understand it. He knew what 'snow,' 'powder,' and 'ice' were, but how did they all fit together? Was snow more than just....snow? "Snow is white powder and ice?" He looked toward the sky, waiting to see if it would begin to fall. "I'm confewsed."

"Well," Sylvera began as she approached the others, "Snow is made of ice crystals and is a white powder. So yes, you're a bit right." She looked toward Lasuk and winked. "Snow is kind of your expertise. Maybe they should see it to understand what you mean."

Seeing as Antheô was quite new to the world, he had yet to encounter ice. However, he knew what white was. It was something he picked up, because his Daddy had already mentioned several times that Antheô was white in color. He just wasn't specifically certain as to what would be falling from the sky. Figuring it would help his Daddy understand what he had understood, he repeated one word: "White!"

Lasuk sighed slightly. It would seem both of his children were still a bit too new to the world. Glancing to his mate, he agreed with her with a "They'll see it soon enough, we just need to wait for it."

One fawn didn't seem to like this word "wait," for the palest of the kyunru fawns stood up and trotted over to his mother. He narrowed his eyes a bit, as he analyzed the situation as best as he could. Antheô was far too short to be able to reach his mother's face, however, maybe he could get her attention some other way. After watching his father kiss his mother several times, which made his unicorn-Mommy smile, he wanted to give it a try. Scooting even closer, he then gave her a quick lick to what he could reach, which was her foreleg. Afterwards, he looked up to her with the most innocent eyes he could muster. Where was that smile?

The Kyuria's ear twitched slightly. It seemed that Antheô had lost interest already. Well, at least Adriel was still paying attention, right?

Though Antheô was busy trying to get mommy Sylvera's attention, Adriel was more concerned with what would fall from the sky. Thinking on it, he perhaps thought that he had in fact seen snow in a book. The children in the book had been making something called a snowman, and so snowmen would have to be built with snow. Right?

And though Sylvera had not been expecting the tender lick from her older fawn, it was greatly appreciated. Looking down at him, she smiled the way a mother would smile at her children, and licked the top of his head. Her dark cheek rubbed against his white one, and it was a gesture that she wanted to cuddle with her elder son.

Meanwhile, Adriel was still not paying attention to anyone but the sky, and for a moment, he thought maybe he had spotted one. When another did not fall right after, he assumed maybe it was just a piece of Antheô's hair all balled up, floating through the air. Sighing, he turned his head toward Lasuk, and shook his head. No snow.

That was, until another flake hit his nose.

Stunned, the little kyunru jumped straight up in the air, almost falling over into his mother and brother. Looking up quickly, his eyes darted back and forth into the sky until he found what he wanted. Pointing his left paw skywards, he shouted, "There!"

While the elder of the boys kept his mate company, Lasuk joined Adriel in gazing at the sky. It definitely seemed like the right weather for snow, and soon enough he was proven correct. However, he wouldn't say anything right off the bat. He'd let Adriel announce the news.

Meanwhile, Antheô seemed quite content with the results of his small action. Not only did he get Mommy to smile, but now he was getting lots of attention. At first, when the darker cheek rubbed up against his own, he didn't quite understand the meaning of it. However, after about 5 seconds, he seemed to naturally do what she was requesting without even thinking about it. His cheek rubbed up against hers, and it almost sounded like the young Kyunru was cooing of all things.

And then his younger brother fell down next to him, rather loudly. His blue-merle eyes blinked, then followed his brother's paw up towards the sky. Gaping his mouth open, he uttered out the complete word (and this time without a mouthful of tail): "Snow!"

Lasuk couldn't help but puff up in a proud manner, despite having little-to-nothing to do with this accomplishment.

As the two sons admired the white stuff falling from the sky, Sylvera could not help but notice the difference between her two sons. Well, besides their obvious difference in looks.

Adriel, though he did enjoy attention, did not seem to want it as badly as his older brother, Antheô. The younger of the two seemed to have more of an interest in standing out on his own, and learning. However, Antheô seemed much less active, and so their mother worried about him a little less. That, and he did have the amazing Lasuk as his father.

Naturally, the frosted ash kyunru ran around, trying to eat the snow as it fell on his tongue (which was sticking out much like a human child might). At some point, he jumped straight over his mother and brother, and darted past his father from all the energy and excitement he had stored up. This 'snow' was glorious, and though he was usually too warm and sweating, he now felt comfortable. He rolled around in it several times making snow angels, despite that as the snow got warm, melted, it got his fur wet and poofy.

Grinning brightly, he turned to face his family. "Come on, Ant! Pway wif me!"

Lasuk's ears seemed to flatten up against his head as his younger son spoke in a fashion he didn't really approve. It only reminded him of Rhapsody. In an attempt to be a good father, he repeated the phrase, emphasizing the corrections: "Adriel, did you want Antheô to play with you?" Of course, he was trying to keep his tone as polite and mild as possible, but if there was one thing he knew, he couldn't stand baby-talk, even from his own babies.

Antheô peered out from his mother's side and blinked. He did not have the most experience with others his age (seeing as he was so young), but the words sounded strangely inviting. Quietly, he padded out from where he had been hiding, then he reared up slightly on his hind legs. When his paws hit the ground, a small spray of freshly fallen snow scattered. The white kyunru fawn paused and seemed to think over his current action. The white snow's appeal seemed to grow better with his experience with it.

With a slightly mischievous smile, he ran towards his brother as quickly as his short legs could manage, then slid to a stop, spraying the white powder towards his fluffy brother. When he was no longer sliding, he sat there with a rather content grin on his face. THAT was fun.

The wolfish Kyuria sighed, then said something he never thought he'd have to say in his lifetime: "You two play nice!" He momentarily heard his dad's voice in his head, very clouded and foggy. Keeping as careful an eye on the boys as possible, he made his way back over to his mate with a sigh. "...boys will be boys?" he offered.

When Adriel heard Lasuk's voice, he looked up quickly, admiring his rather fluffy father. When he repeated what he had just said, the little frosted ash kyunru at first was very confused. Then when he realized that he was being corrected, his cheeks blushed a bit, and he nodded.

One second Adriel had been minding his own business, the next he found himself covered in white snow. Looking up, he saw that Antheô had a grin on his face, one that Addy could not quite read yet. Before he could say anything, however, they were both being scolded. As the younger sibling watched his father walk to his mother, he turned toward his older brother, and shook all of the snow onto him. This time, it was Adriel who was grinning.

Either Sylvera did not see this, or she pretended that she didn't. Perhaps it was more of the phrase that kept her from noticing. When Lasuk gave the classic male response of 'boys will be boys,' her ears flattened to her head much like his had done earlier. Oh how many times did she hear males use that excuse around her guardian when they were being disrespectful? "It's one thing to play like boys. It's another to be a bully." She continued to watch their children, carelessly running a paw over Lasuk's tail.

Antheô didn't quite understand what his father was saying, but his tone seemed a bit stern. This was enough to scare the boy straight as a line. However, he'd forget such an emotion as he suddenly got his own flurry of snow-powder shaken in his direction. The fawn, being white like the snow, didn't look any different with the white powder on him. It felt different though, because it was cold and it was melting into his fur. Unlike his father and his younger brother, his fur was not very fluffy. True enough, it kept him warm, but it was also easier for him to get cold when wet.

Given a moment to recover, Antheô stood himself up again and attempted to shake off the remaining bits of snow on his fur. There was no spray this time, since much of the snow had already melted and stuck to his short fur. Despite the slight discomfort of cold, the edelweiss fluttercorn still seemed eager to play. Without a hint as to what he was planning on doing, he suddenly began to run around, purposely sliding in one direction, then clumsily trying to head in another direction while mid-slide. Such actions resulted in him spraying up much snow. After about 4 sprays of snow, he glanced back to his younger brother, as if expecting him to do something.

While leaning in towards his mate, Lasuk's narrow eyes watched the fawns. "I don't think either is being a bully." He nuzzled against Sylvera's neck in an attempt to reassure her that such a thing would never happen with their two boys. His tail seemed to appreciate the attention and brushed itself into the unicorn spirit's dark paw.

Though Sylvera heard Lasuk, she continued to simply watch and to pet his tail. If either son began to act up too much, she wanted to be ready to tell them to cool it down. Though perhaps she was just being a protective mother, not wanting either son to get seriously injured.

Adriel watched as his older brother sprayed snow everywhere. Wondering if he could do it, too, he stood up and tried to mimic Antheô. As he began to run, he could feel the cool air through his fur, and it felt pretty good. He was starting to run faster now, and he had to narrow his eyes because the cold air brought tears to them. Everything seemed to be going well until he tried to slide.

Either Addy just couldn't do it, or he was doing it wrong. Instead of sliding across the ground, he came to a complete stop too fast, and ending up falling over himself. Not only that, but it ended up being right into little Antheô! It took him a moment to realize what he had done, then he turned quickly and tried to help his older brother. "Sorry!" he exclaimed, then turned to his parents. Was he in trouble?
