Who let's a toddler - particularly an innocent and overly affectionate one - go wandering into a random pizza place by herself? Well, Charlene Phillip Dartsmoore...but only if she's nearby enough to see and do damage to anyone who threatens her spawn, but far enough that she doesn't interfere with the child's meeting of people. Ebony seemed to be the type who liked to rush up and greet people, making tons of new friends without really even having to do anything. And she wanted pizza, so Dartie let the kid go learn to order it herself - might as well, she'd have to eventually.
Ebby bounced on her toes as she walked into the restaurant. It smelled of delicious food and she was eager to try it. Yay! And since it was a public place, she was sure she might have a chance of at least finding someone to talk to for a bit. She always did.

Duncan was sitting off to the side, not paying attention to anyone else and was looking over a handful of pamphlets. Art had no worked out for him, in fact he hadn't even made it through a single class before he got kicked out... As such he was trying to find new ways to spend his time, new things to study and try to fill his time with. As such he was coming up lacking, the only thing he did so far that was relaxing was yoga though half the poses were hard to do given his odd build...
He gave a low, growling sound in his throat as he set the papers down and picked up his drink instead, taking a sip. His wings were twitching behind him, giving a soft chiming sound though he wasn't aware of it and his yellow eye was darting back and forth looking for any possible dangers that the pizza place might present... though there seemed to be none at the moment.
It was another dull, quiet, and normal day... part of him like that while the rest of him seemed to be put on edge by it.

Being as easily distracted and amused as she was, Ebby heard the jingling sound and immediately found herself drawn to investigating it. Turning, she saw Duncan, his pretty red skin, lovely horns, and beautiful metal wing things. The wings were what was attracting her attention, so she figured she would go over and tell him how nice they were. Maybe it'd even make him less grouchy.
"Excuse me," the child started, smiling warmly at Duncan when she walked up beside him. "Your wings are really nice."

Duncan paused mid-chewing to turn and look over at the one that had just spoken... then lowered his gaze down to find she was a lot smaller then expected, "Hm?" He finished chewing, swallowed, then finished his thought, "Ahhh... thanks."
The spawn sounded quite confused by her words, this being the first time that he could recall someone her size coming up to him to talk. Normally little kids were prone to running away from them and with good reason. A moment of inspection gave him the reason for why she was acting the way she was acting though... she had a scent he knew well as the one that belonged to spawn with the DNA of the Lust demon. Seemed he was meeting a lot of their kind of late.
He blinked two of his three eyes when he realized he was just starring at her and said, "Ahh... so...?" One could tell he wasn't exactly Mr. Social.

The child smiled warmly at him. She could deal with not-that-social, her brother Kahlua was like that.
"You have outside ribs like my friend Tykier and a third eye like my friend Mareike. Do you come from the Sevens place too?" the small one inquired, cocking her head to the side. "I'm Ebony, what's your name?"

Duncan was starting to think there was some sort of club for the children of that place that he had never been invited too... everyone seemed to know everyone else while he knew so few people...
"Yeah, regretfully." He muttered, hating being associated so casually with that place.
He motioned for her to sit in the other bench if they were going to be talking, "My name is Duncan." He introduced himself before reaching over to get his cup, taking a sip from it. Even while he seemed occupied with that his yellow eye was starring, unblinking at Ebony.

"It seems everywhere I go these days I bump into someone from there. You're big. I've only met one other kid the same age as you from there. He was nice but really really shy." the child explained with a nod. She didn't go into much more detail about the Sevens place since it obviously didn't seem like something he liked.
As she sat down, the child watched Duncan's yellow eye. "Does it ever blink? It looks neat." But then, she thought everything looked neat in some way or another.

Duncan gave a little nod, "He didn't used to be." He said simply, only knowing one other his age that was shy and it annoyed him... Adriel seemed strange these days.
"Never. It keeps me safe by never closing, keeping an eye out for danger so to speak." He said, then pointed at the pizza that was sitting in front of him, only a few pieces missing so far, "Eat what you want of it." There was plenty to go around.
"Will need to get your a drink of your own though, I doubt you want to share my germs." He went flipping through the pamphlets once again with his two lower eyes while the yellow one watched Ebony closely.

"Oh, that sounds useful. Then people can't sneak up on you and hurt you." the child agreed with a nod.
Ebony grinned delightedly at the offering. "Oh! Thank you!" she said, taking a small slice from the pizza. After she'd finished a bite, the girl grinned. "What sorts of things do you like to do, Duncan?"

"I won't let something like that again." He muttered to himself before looking up at her with his lower eyes and gave a shrug, "Its a useful defense, keeps watch even when I sleep."
"Your welcome." He said, "Things? Well... this and that. Currently yoga is what I do most to keep my temper in check. Trying to find out activities that have similar results but..." He trailed off as he gave the papers a glare. They didn't help at all, not a single thing really called out ot him and make him want to do any of them.

"What's yogart - er, yoga?" the child asked, trying not to screw up her words. It sounded like yogurt to her!

Duncan gave a shrug of his shoulders, not about to explain to someone this small about what had happened in the past. It wasn't something he'd even told Adriel or his father, the only one who knew how bad he could be was Xeviel and Vampy, maybe that angel with the scars he saw from time to time.
"Yoga, its a strange way of bending around into pretzels... I am not so much into that part as I am the breathing exercises. Its relaxing and that's something important to me, keeping my mind straight." He reached over to scoop up another pizza slice and began to eat it.
As the waitress walked by he lifted a hand up, snapping at her then pointed at Ebony as she was still in need of a drink.

Ebony smiled warmly up to the waitress when the woman asked for her order. She figured she'd be paying for that bit later on. Mommy gave her money for these sorts of things, after all.
"I dunno why anyone would wanna bend into a pretzel. Sounds kinda silly." the child commented, in between bites of her first slice. "Do they actually work? The breathing things, I mean."

"It is pretty strange but it does help." He said, "Its very important for me to keep my emotions in check, the breathing exercises do wonders for me."
He finished off what he was eating and then slouched in his seat, feeling full and relaxed. He looked the girl over closely. He was meeting a lot of people of late from the Labs. Seemed like they were tied together or something, bound to find each other despite how hard he tried to avoid everyone.
"You come here alone? You seem awfully young to be out and about." He said, looking her over.

"No, my Mommy is here too. She just doesn't really like socializing and knows I do so she stays back and let's me do it. She says it keeps me safe while not making her have to talk to people." the horned child explained.
