Hello, hello! I, the only slightly crazy Tohopekaliga, have decided I want a D-Corp kid. Oh what fun.

Oh what gold it'll require. ;.;

No matter, though, I can garner the funds... eventually.

But what do I want, specifically, you ask? Well, this is a fun thing to answer! I would like a Striped Dolphin.

Don't know what that is? Well, you're in luck. I shall spew some dolphin information (and pretty pictures) at you for educational purposes! (Not porpoises, though. They're not dolphins.)

(Followed by a character plan, naturally.)

The Striped Dolphin
Stenella coeruleoalba

User Image

Striped Dolphins can be found in all the world's oceans, except the Arctic. They are common offshore throughout the tropical and temperate zones.

Like all dolphins, Striped Dolphins are a social species, often found in groups of 100 or more. They are known to approach boats in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, riding wakes and the like. That's not so common in the pacific, as there is a history of hunting of the species there.

(Which is interesting, I think. They know to stay away due to historical things.)

They are quite acrobatic, often jumping far out of the water, and generally playing around. Of course, most dolphins can do that, so it's not surprising.

If you want to know more, Wikipedia knows.

Troy is from the first glance unmistakably not quite human. All of his skin has the feel and patterning from his dolphin DNA, even though his head, upper torso, and arms are Largely human in nature. He is not well-suited for the land, however, as he completely lacks legs, and has a powerful delphinic tail that can propel him through the water.

He has no blow-hole, so can't quite swim like a dolphin, but jumping out of the water isn't hard.

My current thoughts for appearance are the picture at right (Picture is a link to a bigger version).

(I'll probably change this picture now and then...but the patterning and such won't change much.)

Personality, Mental brief:

Troy is a singularly happy individual, almost annoyingly so. It is very hard to make him sad for very long, or angry. It's not fun to be either of those things, after all. Fun, games, laughter: The good things in life, in his opinion.

The dolphin traits only amplify this, although when not in the water, he's not quite so happy, as it's a bit hard to jump around without water to go through, especially without legs.

Troy's mental capacities are high: He sees and observes quite a bit, and constantly asks questions about things he wants to know, or doesn't understand.

Possible abilities:

As a dolphin, he would have very good lung capacity, being able to hold his breath for a long time. Due to the large amount of him that is delphinic, he might also retain the ability to have the 'half sleep' that dolphins use, as well as a (severely reduced) ability to echolocate. (Without a massive alteration to his cranial structure, effective echolocation cetacean style is not going to happen, and I want Troy's face to be human.)

**All details of this are subject to change...although I like my mental image at the moment, so, it's not all that likely.

The Guardian

Name: Kathy Hart
Sex: Female
Species: Human

Age: 29
Profession/Expertise: Marine biologist, focuses on Cetaceans; dolphin trainer.

Hair: Shoulder-Length Blond hair, usually kept in a neat pony tail
Eyes: green

Height: 5'8"
Weight: That's impolite to ask. She is physically fit, however, spending considerable time in the water.

Physical Description:

User Image
Kathy is a fairly plain woman. She does not have any striking features at all. Her chest is small, although not abnormally so, her waistline is un-unusual, and her face has a certain amused simplicity to it.

She is very fit, as she frequently swims with the sea mammals she studies, and is almost as at home in the water as she is on land. (Sometimes moreso.) When working, she can usually be seen wearing a dark wetsuit. At other times, she prefers to wear pants or shorts and a simple blouse.

A lovely visual interpretation from Kaho-kun is pictured at right.

Personality/Mental Brief:

A driven individual, Kathy is often very serious and single-minded about what she learns about and studies. It is not uncommon for her to become completely absorbed in her work and miss appointments, or meals.

She has taken precious little time to develop any sort of relationship with a significant other, although sometimes wishes she would.

Kathy's job includes working closely with a fair number of dolphins, training and teaching, as well as learning from them. Unlike herself, she never fails to provide food when needed for them, and is very much attached to the creatures she works with.

Short Bio:

Kathy grew up on the water, and fell in love with it at a young age. She was always very bright, and easily accomplished all she wished, except possibly getting a family.

Kathy is a scientist, the head of a small marine research lab up along the coast (outside of gaia's 'canon' maps, just for simplicity's sake). Mostly focused on cetaceans, but not exclusively.

Naturally, a place like that runs off of grants, which she gets from various sources, but the largest contributor is D-corp. She occasionally will give blood samples of various species to, when requested, but that's not exactly a "taxing" requirement for the money.

Therefore, she owes them for the lab's continued existence, basically. She's also more or less alone, and uses a section of the lab as her residence.

D-Corp didn't need to try very hard to get her to accept a child, because of what was mentioned above, and that she frequently would host children's educational events, and liked to do it...and lacked one of her own.

(Bonus information: The guardian's (first) name comes from an aunt of mine who used to work for Sea World. She wasn't a dolphin trainer...she taught classes for children. She died when I was little, though. sad One of Sea World's Orcas was named after her, as well. Katerina, in case you're curious. That orca's birth certificate, along with a picture, is on my dad's wall.)

I have nothing else to say right now...except that thoughts are of course welcome on what I've come up with.
