THE GRASS FIELD!
The breeze from the stadium air conditioners rustled the flat grassland arena, sending small clouds of harmless pollen into the air. The land is completely flat, making manuverability easy to those build to walk on land. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GRASS type attacks

Renekai strolled easily up into her trainer box, finally able to relax in the calm field. She'd been through fire, ice, graveyard, city streets, and desert, and she didn't want to ever see them again. Ever. The grass field was very nice, even if some bits of stray pollen sometimes tickled her nose. At least she wasn't allergic to it. "Come on out, 'Donna!" Renekai called, holding up her Gastly's pokeball.

Dreydonna appeared as a dark purple ball from a red beam of light, cackling her insanity. Hmm... Not the best field, but it would have to do. The city streets field was fun, but it wasn't important right now. She floated around, barely visible in the bright light, and practiced her cackling. What mischief would she make today?

Sienna walked calmly to her trainer box, Frey's pokeball in hand. The Grass Field was familiar, and Sienna definitely preferred it to the Graveyard Field any day.
Sienna took a deep breath and called "Let's go Frey!" as she tossed his pokeball into the air.

The pidgey appeared in a red flash of light as he was called out of his pokeball, landing with a flutter in the soft grass. Ruffling his feathers to shake off any sleepiness that had accumulated in his thoughts, he surveyed the field. Frey squinted his green eyes, he could barley make out where his ghost opponent was in the light.

When Dreydonna saw who her opponent was, she broke out into new fits of laughter. This was going to be great! A pidgey could fly, and Dreydonna could float. Perhaps this would be an aerial battle!

"Calm down and get ready," Renekai said softly to her troublesome gastly. "This will be tough, so hang in there!"

Dreydonna spun upside down and grinned impishly. She stared wide-eyed at Frey from her position, doing her best to shake him up.

Frey's head tilted to one side as he tried to figure out what the gastly thought was so funny. The pidgey also returned her wide-eyed stare with a questioning and slightly confused look. What was that ghost up to?

Sienna silently considered what move to use first. It was a bit of a mean move, but Sienna (and Frey too, she was now sure of after seeing the poor bird sulk after their first battle) was tired of losing and ready to go all out.
"Let's start out with a Faint Attack!"

Frey snapped out of his questioning as his trainer told him their first move. The pidgey hovered above the ground before gliding over the grass field to were the gastly was floating. He stopped momentarily right in from of Dreydonna and then spun in a circle, his wing hopefully catching his opponent off-guard as he delivered the Faint Attack.

"Move, you silly ball of gas!" Renekai shouted, but too late.

Dreydonna winced and bounced away as the Faint Attack hit her square on. She did not usually have to deal with super-effective moves, so this really hurt. When she stopped rolling through the air, she stopped and became almost completely invisible.

"Ouch..." Renekai muttered, feeling Dreydonna's pain. "Okay, girl. We'll have to take a chance, here. Lick!"

Dreydonna didn't move for a moment, but then seemed to poof out of existence. An instant later, she was behind Frey, tongue out to give a big, slobbery lick.

"Look out Frey!" Sienna shouted as she saw the pink tounge appear from the gastly's mouth.

But Sienna's cry came too late, and Frey's feathers were covered in gastly-slobber. The pidgey's expression was frozen in an odd mixture of disgust and surprise.

Renekai suppressed the temptation to pump a fist, and instead called, "Great job, 'Donna! Now for a Shadow Ball!!"

Dreydonna floated away from the frozen pidgey a foot or two, then, with a hideous grin, some of the purple gas that was always around her broke off. This detached ball of gas slowly seemed to solidify some. Dreydonna cackled and set the attack flying.

"Try and shake it off!" Sienna called to her pokemon.

He growled in his mind at the silly command. The pidgey glared as best as he could at the cackling gastly. But he was still paralyzed, and Frey could only watch as he was hit by the on-coming Shadow Ball.

Sienna took that as an obvious sign that he couldn't shake it off. "It's okay, you're doing fine Frey!" she called out, knowing that the bird was probably going to be furious that he couldn't move.

"Icy Wind!" Renekai commanded.

Once more, a blob of gas broke off from Dreydonna, but this time it thinned out and turned blue-white instead of turning into a dark purple ball. With a malicious grin, Dreydonna blew on this mist, and icy shards suddenly flew out at Frey.

The paralysis lightened up just enough to let Frey flinch as he was pelted with pieces of ice. Frost and ice glittered on his feathers, chilling his skin underneath.

Sienna flinched. On top of Frey's decrease in defense, and paralysis, Icy Wind was a move that gave Frey a type disadvantage. 'Wow, I wonder if she planned that out.' Sienna thought.
"Hang in there Frey!" She encouraged her pokemon to remember the battle wasn't over yet.

"Again, 'Donna!" Renekai called. This was a much-used battle plan that had been the reason for most of her battle wins. First, immobilize the enemy. Then lower defense. Finally, attack with a super-effective move. It may seem a cowardly thing to do, to freeze or paralyze you opponent, but you did what you had to on the battle field.

Dreydonna repeated the process of creating the Icy Wind attack, then flipped upside down before blowing it away. The minute shards of ice flew once more in the strong wind, propelled towards Frey's face.

Frey cringed again, the paralysis slowly weakening. At the very least now he could shake his head to rid his feathers of the ice.

Sienna saw Frey shake his head free of some of the ice and hoped the paralysis would be gone completely soon.

"Almost done, Dreydonna!" Renekai called to her Gastly. She could not help but show a little excitement; Frey was severely weakened. This might become the fastest battle Renekai had ever fought.

Dreydonna cackled and floated circles around the almost-free Frey. She made a face.

"Dreydonna!" Renekai said sharply. "Don't taunt him; just attack before he's free!"

Dreydonna quickly blew an Icy Wind at Frey, feeling a little guilty for making fun of his vulnerability.
