We have 'em in every genre. A band or group of bands that make us ashamed of metal.
Who are they and why are they so terrible?
For power I am going to have to call on the great name of Dragonforce.
For goth, I do believe Operanoire(sp?) fits the bill.

As for my beloved Viking, Nomans land gets my vote. I mean I love 'em but they are Russians, singing in English, pretending to be vikings. The accents going on in that music is ridunkulous.

i still think they're more on the -core side. but i know what you mean. i didn't list any metalcore because i felt it was a given for me to feel that way xp

Rotting Gnarl Metallica, for the whole Napster thing. Defending Beatallica doesn't make up for it. and the whole napster thing was a giant farce, i must agree. they got famous on the tape trading circuit, and wanted to ban its modern equivalent. dicks.

Of course, this was after the Napster thing, so they were probably just doing it to try to salvage what few fans they had left.

Because Metallica has always had a rough time selling tickets and albums.

Metallica. I feel they are over rated and that a question I get commonly is "do you listen to Metallica?" Another would be Dragonforce, obvious reason. Disturbed, like Metallica in the question area.
Edit: Some of the more modern bands that scream like it's the only way to sing, and that is why I say in response to the right question, "No I don't like them. They are not metal, just f*****t poser screamo and I want to slit their throats."
