Ok so who ever reads this can call me a noob or whatever, but I have had it with people claiming the AWP takes skills. I mean sure you have to aim! But let's see, 120 damage to the chest... 60-80 on the legs and 400 to the head... Hmmm I wonder if that is a little high... Look I'll admit that flick shots take skills, but come on guys, not aiming properly and still getting kills from the chest is going to far.... I know I'm gonna get piled on this topic so yeah.... It's just that a friend of mine AWPs and he claims it takes more skill to chest shot some one than to headshot someone with a Scout or an M4...

AWPs can either balance or unbalance the game, depending on the mood.
In a pub, AWPs ruin everything. 36 AWPs is NEVER fun. On dust_2, I want to rush short as T and never worry about getting picked. It's just not fun. The occasional 15, even 89 damage (or hell, even a pick!) is all fair-game, but a 1-5 ratio just isn't fun. I realize that one CT with an AWP would balance the very T-biased strategy of a short-rush, but hell, since when did I care about the other team being balanced!? Let them nade spam, see if my AK cares. twisted
In skrims and matches, AWPs add a very powerful twist on strategy. Yeah--it's a 1-hit kill, but so is the AK, or the M4 given another tenth of a second. It's all skill, and the AWP adds a little balance (more damage-more vulnerability). And, more importantly, strategy. You won't find many clans practicing short rushes. In a way, it adds just that much more cognitive process to the strat-makin's.
edit: Also, AK and M4 need to be in separate categories for the poll. M4 is gross.

To be honest, I think AWPs are cheap in most situations. I've seen someone get shot in the arm with an AWP before, and they died when they had full health and armor. And they do not take that long to shoot, it's pretty unrealistic, and I just think the game would function better without the weapon. I don't think the game really needs auto snipers either, but they really aren't that cheap, personally they are hard to use, and most people don't use them anyways.
But, if somebody insists there be AWPs, I think there should be a cap at one per team. I'm sick of four people AWP camping short on de_dust2.

It's kinda... I dunno how to say this... expected that when you get shot with the AWP, you die. Getting shot in the foot is kinda a joke. Did you not know that an arm-shot is a kill (I think)?
AWP = death. I think that's generally... accepted.
So I really don't know what you're trying to say. Are you saying that the AWP should be weaker? Are you saying you don't like the AWP because it's cheep... period?
The AWP is a very tactical weapon. It's really a one-hit wonder, because you're not gunna be taking down more than one or two enemies at a time - it just takes too long to fire.
Thus, long corridors and confined walkways (such as short A) are the preferred kill-zones for AWPs. Stay out of them, or bait a teammate and let them run first ( wink ) and you should be alright, kid.

Generally I have nothing against people using the AWP once in a while, but when they use it ALL the time and claim they have more skill than someone who scouts is going a bit out of line... Its actually once of the reasons I rage so much on CS... Cos some douche bag on a pub server is AWP like there was no tomorrow... And it is especially annoying on Dust 2 when there are about 4 AWPers aiming for double doors from T spawn. If they powered down the AWP a little I wouldn't mind. As you guys said, the AK can also achieve a one hit kill, but that is what we like to call a "headshot" not a crotch shot.... Yeah I know, Im a noob for complaining about the weapon, but I really want to punch people who claim they are "Leet" when they AWP... Get a scout and then headshot me before you say that.... Yeah I understand that AWP= Detah and it is accepted. Same for every weapon, but I really dont like the whole cocky attitude of an AWPer

If we ever get a CS:S server, we defiantly need to limit the AWP to one per team.

I hate the awp personally on the basis that everyone has to be good with it to play on Cs:S. (Hello all by the way) It just doesn't do the players skilled with the AK/M4/Krieg/Bullpup/any other weapon justice when someone who just starts gets the gun and kills them every time because their gun is BOOM, dead.

Exactly, I've even first person spectated people, and I don't get how these people can get headshots without even aiming for the head. Also pretty sure it wasn't an aimbot. Because he didn't always get the kill.

The AWP now is pretty crap.
Its over 100+ Dmg on ANY body part. On 1.6 it was a HS to do that. PLUS you gotta crotch down a lot to get most good shots less your good.

I think AWPs are great for scrims/matches.
In pubs, I don't really enjoy them but if so I think it should be a limit to one.

I also find it unrealistic that you can shoot that gun at all without going prone, but of course, you can't do that in CS:S But, I think it should be super inaccurate if your not crouching, that would balance the gun out a lot more.

AWPS ruin the game for me. there is no skill in it at all. i can shoot as fast with it as these so called "experts awpers" and i hardly ever use them. a scout is wat takes skills for a 1 hit u need a head shot. that itself is skill not a shot to the chest kill.
