We recently had jazz band auditions, and once again there were no flutes, cry so me and two other girls got together and learned the trumpet audition piece, and signed up for a time. rofl we actually got into the audition room before he figured out we didnt know any instrument but flute. whee
then he kicked us out crying
Its so unfair. emo we can play jazz. its just uncoventional
Does your school have jazz flutes?

Right now there are two flutes in our jazz band. Maybe three, not quite sure. But sometimes I play the piano instead. It really depends who else plays the piano. =/

We have two songs where we need 1-a few flute players. In (I think Hay Burner) our pianist (who is also a flute player) plays her flute in that song as well as the piano. The sax sectional have a song where we have to switch to flute at one point. I can't wait to be able to play more than just concert b flat.

We have two, mainly because they're good and Mr. Ware didn't have the heart to turn them down. To be honest, I don't think flutes sound the least bit jazzy.

My school doesn't even have a jazz band. We had one for 1/2 of a year a couple years ago, and now we don't have any at all.

Jazz Flute players rock....I have a question...can I be counted as a traitor to my flutes if i also play sax?

well then, Mr. R-tard, biggrin you should listen to some good jazz. plenty of awesome jazz players play flute. and if you want to use the argument "flutes were made for classical music" then the sax is really the only instrument that can be considered "jazzy" seeing as all other wind instruments were made specifically for classical music, and sax was the only wind instrument that didn't have a definite genre until jazz.

If we ever decided to have jazz flutes, I'd be the first to audition. I like normal concert music, but one of my reasons for starting flute way back when was so I could play something jazz. Any flute would do.
