I recommend Youth for Understanding for exchange programs. They're most popular is the summer Japan program and they offer over 300 scholarships between full paid to half paid. I got a full paid scholarship and all I had to bring was spending money. They also have semster and year programs and also offer programs else where.

I know some basic rule to Japan. Most I've learned here. It's a great place about actually how difficult it is for, Americans expesially, to go there and work. I know that to get a Working Visa, you need at least a Baceilors (sp?) degree or proof you have worked for 10 years in the same feild. And that you are going to work in that feild over there. eek Well, looks like I'm going to collage now. gonk I dun wanna go!

A lot of nations probably have those kind of rules. I once read about going to work in Canada, and they have similar standards (you have to have a job set up or have skills that they're specifically looking for)

Doing some more thread reviving . . .

For Junior High and Highschoolers
You can't really do it by yourself, but you could pressure a teacher to put together an EF tour. They have a reasonablly priced (about 2300 with airfair I assume) 9 day tour of Japan where you go to Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. I did a tour with them to Australia for my senior trip and they're fast paced but well worth doing.
EF Tours

Highschools and College students
Japan at Studyabroad.com This is a pretty comprehensive list of a lot of programs cover all different needs: summer, academic year, whatever.

College Students
Summer at Waseda This program gets pushed on us every year since my school doesn't offer a summer Japan program. This six week program is at Waseda University in Tokyo (Via Portland State in Oregon) It's gonna be at least 6,000 just to do the program and to fly there, but it's in summer so it won't interupt your studies. biggrin

yeah, I have tired to avoid getting sticky crazy on this board since it's not that big, it's listed on the "master topic list" sticky, though.

I recomend the Rotary Youth Exchange. It's the program I'm surrently on now. It gives you a lot of opportunities to travel around and every month i get a 10000yen allowance (like 100US). Of course, with this program youre not gaurenteed to go to the country of your choice, but usually people get one of their top two choices. (In my case, Japan was number 4). But even if you dont get picked to go to Japan, there are so many other cool countries to go to. My first two were Norway and South Africa!

Those are really cool links *checks them out agian* I really want to live in Japan... but it's too expensive, I want to Work in Japan but that would require living there (too expensive), and I want to Study there... but it would be rather difficult in an environment I'm not use to (even though that truely wouldn't matter to me xp xd )

Well either way, I do want to live, work, and study in Japan... but I don't think I can sweatdrop crying

*Now feels stupid for rammbling on and on*
