» Professor Desewd's Archive

» Welcome to Professor Desewd's archive for the Malfreu Institute! Here the Professor and his small team of young research students record, analyze and store texts found during any projects carried out by the institute. Students and visitors alike are welcome to come in and peruse the texts so long as the texts themselves are not taken out of the archive.

Professor Desewd himself is a bookish old fox with long shaggy hair. He often smells of old parchment due to his work. He often becomes over enthusiastic about the documents inside the archive and it usually drives many foxes away because he is so passionate. But do not worry! He is a very likable fellow once you overlook is obsession with history.

Here you can find older plot updates that chronicle a very interesting time in Outfoxed history.

In the far reaches of the Outfoxed floating land, explorer foxes have found a deep and extensive cave system in which a library, holding many ancient tomes, is built right into the walls of the caves. The language is old and it is slow work deciphering the old and forgotten characters. But researchers have been able to translate the first page of what is possibly a text chronicling the history of the two tailed foxes. A history that has been shrouded in mystery for thousands of years. The first page has been published for the public to read.

» Begin Chapter of the Seed

There was time when our ancestors, the first two tailed foxes, used to have one tail. Though, I suppose it is hard to imagine. After all, who among us remembers a time before ours? Our kind has not touched the Motherland below for generations. None of us have felt open seas or wandered deep into the earth. Our water flows from an unknown source and departs our land to another unknown. Even I, old as am, can not remember much of the stories passed down through the ages. But, there is one I remember quite clearly. Our kind's exile from the Motherland below to the floating isles we now reside in.
Written Work of the Elder Clesefil
Book of the Exodus: Prelude.

The first half of the Book of the Exodus has been translated! Unfortunately, it doesn't answer many questions for our researchers here at the institute. Further exploration of the cave has shown the chronological order of the texts. The texts found further back are from earlier times and is organized quite well by subject. However, the closer to the entrance of the cave the texts were, the messier its layout and the exact time line could not be immediately recognized. Researchers are working hard to translate the texts, but many of them seem to deal with fiction works. History books, diaries and records seem to be sparse and scatter throughout the cave.

There was once only one kind, that of the one tailed fox, what we would now call the Fuli, 'the first'. They were a peaceful and welcoming people. What food they had, they would share. What water they had, they would offer to others. Few conflicts arose, and those that did were solved with words and a nuzzle. They lived in a great forest, old before even the foxes came to walk this land. It had many denizens, but the most common of all were the Fuli. Change in this society was slow or even non-existent. And so, when the Sasti, 'the second', arrived it caused a great stir. . .

The birth of the Sasti were considered a freak accident. The elders did not know what to do in this situation. Something so new, and so unfamiliar was not in their vast collection of knowledge. The variety of forest denizens had never been anything but there and the Fuli could not understand them. The first Sasti was a white fox with two tails. Her fur was silkier and fluffier than any other. Her snout was not pointed like that of her parents and neck was hidden beneath fur. She was so different, and so much the same. Her disposition was like that of any other Fuli. She would have been one of them if not for her appearance.

The Fuli cast her away in fear. They did not know what she could do. They did not know her at all. The White Sasti left with no complaint, never to come back.

And the Fuli became calm once more. For many seasons there were no more abnormalities. The White Sasti faded into the distant memories of the elders and only stories that distorted her image remained.

Then a second calamity occurred. A black Sasti was born. The elders could not understand. Unlike the White Sasti whose nature was compassionate and kind, this new Sasti was the complete opposite. Too used to living in peace, the Fuli cowered in terror. The older the Black Sasti became, the more vicious its nature. He snapped at everything, and its irritable nature even made many of the Fuli wish its demise. Fur as dark as night and eyes as red as blood caused it to be feared as a monster. An hideous demon.

Then one day, he disappeared. A trail of white fur was found. But how could it be? A fox living so long? It had to have been centuries. The Fuli could only be relieved and worked hard to forget them and go back to their familiar life.

However, after that day, small brown objects in the sky could be found. As the time passed, more would appear, but they would always be out of reach. The Fuli would wonder and speculate. Some would try to reach those distant objects, but no matter how hard the tried or how high they went, the shape of the objects would only continue to get smaller until they disappeared behind the clouds.

» Chapter of Questions and the Peculiar

Outfoxed News Team Reporting Live from the Malfreu Institute:

The archaeologists here at the Malfreu Institute left yesterday morning to continue uncovering the secrets of what is currently named The Cave of Yesterday in Etswea, the unknown land. The excavation was to last at least two weeks before the scientists would come back to decipher the ancient tomes the foxes before us left there. Right now, however, they are in the Institute's infirmary being treated for severe burns and mild shock.

After arriving at the work site, they were to report to a scientist here at the institute at regular intervals. Many hours passed and no report was sent. The Institute asked for the Aedian police to investigate the matter. Upon arriving at the scene they found scorch marks covering the cave entrance and deep into the cave itself. The excavation team was found outside the cave entrance as well. They were unconscious, suffering from severe bleeding and many broken bones. As of right now, they show no signs of improvement.

-Ah! Here comes the head of the institute! Mr. Falcuet! We're from the OBN! A word, please? What do you think happened in Etswea?

-Ahem, well, uh, we are not quite sure at this point. It is too dangerous to go to the cave itself and investigate. So, our only option is to wait for the excavation team to awaken and give us an account of what happened.

-I see. Thank you, Mr. Falcuet.

This is the Outfoxed Broadcasting Network coming from you live. We will give updates on what happens, as it happens.
