Horn raised high, Elawi trounced about the large meadow, careful not to disturb any flowers, slowly dying of the cold. A remarkable tune floated out of her mouth, filling anything within a mile with pure joy, as she never sang of anything but.

Her long, flowy mane let loose in the slight wind, swaying in the breeze. It was a cold chill, sending small shivers up and down her back, but Elawi could take it. Nature was kind, most of the time, and Elawi always tried her best to be kind back. Of course, usually she forgot about this when she got into her singing. She could go on for hours, spouting out lovely tunes, and trampling small flowers and tiny ants. She always hated when she found out she did so, but what could she do?

As she continued to sing, her hooves slowed to a halt, just as her song soon did. She flicked her tail and looked around, wondering idly if there was a source of water about. A bubbling stream? A calm pond? Anything would do as long as it was the least bit sanitary.

The drumming of hooves along the hard-packed ground echoed through hollowed trees and animals' burrows. Taigi tossed his mane joyously as he thundered through the thickets that cluttered together and formed a forest. He didn't need wings to fly, he was as free as a hawk, now that he'd grown.

His emerald eyes blazed and his ears grew flatter still against his skull as he saw an approaching meadow. Rather, he was approaching the meadow. One in which the flowers had already sunk to their knees in the winter's passing. Of course, it was nearing the arctic weather, temperature dropping with every moon and his breath becoming more evident as mist in the air. And the ebony stallion couldn't feel a tinge of frost as he tramped a new set of tracks every portion of a second.

Just a little bit more... And he struck light!

The musky dimness of the forest was fought away by the sun's welcoming rays as he raced into the clearing. What he saw there, however, was a flower of it's own kind, pale beige with a violet centre and a valiant golden horn. Another Unicorn. A mare, at that. He instantly skidded to a halt, wincing as his cloven hooves tore a patch of flowers from their homing earth.

"H-hello, there!" Taigi huffed sheepishly, his breathing still heavy from the 'exercise'.

Glancing up in surprise, Elawi stumbled backward, caught off guard. She studied the male for a moment before saying hello. His coat was nearly pure black, except for the tip of his tail, a marking near his eyes, and a few mist-like markings upon his back. His hair was messy, and two silver earrings poked out between his ebony mane when the wind blew it. He was also a unicorn, like her, but he was somehow different, more striking. His eyes were of a brilliant, luminous green.

Startled once again, Elawi had to turn and shield her eyes with her flowing mane. The sun had hit his coat precisely the way she had wished it not, and the light had reflected off his coat and beamed straight into her eyes. She stepped back, and angled herself so it would not do so again, then opened her mouth to speak.

"H-h-hello," Elawi managed to stammer before bowing her head in a polite manner. Her mind was swirling with questions, but she blatantly refused to let them all come tumbling out at once.

He gave her a friendly grin, revealing each of his perfect white teeth. The sun reflected off of the two identical hoops adorning his left ear, a style he'd inherited from his father. His brows turned to the sky in confusion as she stumbled back, then rose further with realization before crumpling with concern, "I'm sorry to have startled you, miss," he blinked, tilting his head slightly to the side.

Using the close proximity to better his assumptions, he looked her over once more. She was definitely older, her violet eyes swam with knowledge, or so it seemed. Either that or experience, anyway, surely she would have a tale to tell of her own wanderings. The mare also looked of pure Unicorn lineage. But he could never be sure; after all, he had both the proud horn and the lion's tail, but his father was but a half-flutter that took no wings of his mother's and kept his father's grounded normality.

Taigi then came to another realization: he hadn't either introduced himself or asked her for her name, he was rude enough to avert the courteous act of asking how she'd felt. So, bowing his head while keeping locked eye contact, he proceeded in making up for these misdemeanors, "pardon me miss, I haven't introduced myself." He flashed her another smile tinted with apology, "I am called Taigi, how do you do?"

Grinning back at him, Elawi realized that he was actually quite good-looking. He had stunning features, and was quite different from the others she had previously met. Though, there was another reason he seemed different. This male gave off the feeling of being more down to earth than the others. She then realized she should respond to his kind remark. "Oh, that is quite fine. I-I'm easily started - t'was nothing."

Elawi was amazed at his - Taigi's - kind manners. He still seemed quite young, and yet he was very well behaved. Something that was absent in most youth these days. She idly wondered who his parents were, but only briefly, as she decided she should respond to this, being a question and all. Bowing her head a bit, Elawi answered, "My name is Elawi, pleased to meet you." She smiled again, then went on, "I am quite fine, and yourself?"

"I am doing rather well myself, Miss Elawi." Taigi brought his head back to level, his horn giving him at least two hands' height over her. But then again, she had a horn as well.

"Elawi..." He repeated her name, weighting it's accordance with her traits. "It is a beautiful name, might I say, and suits your features in the most lovely way." It was unique, he'd never heard such a name spoken, and the mare was unique. He was quite sure that aside from her relatives, none similar to her existed.

His brush-tipped tail flicked around one of his back ankles, the white obvious against his most otherwise black coat.

Nodding, Elawi smiled yet again. "That is quite well, Taigi," she replied, her face growing hot at being called Miss Elawi. She hadn't been called that it quite a while, and usually it was well-mannered foals that gave her that name. Was she really that much older than the handsome stallion she now stood before?

Her face grew hotter as he complimented her name and beautiful, yet modest, features. Flicking her tail, she bowed her head humbly. "Why thank you, Taigi. I must say, your name does hold up quite a sense of nobility - just as you do. Very fitting indeed." She nodded, then brought her head back up, her cheeks still the slightest bit warm. Such a kind, kind stallion he was. And charming, too. 'He must have wonderful parents!' Elawi decided, positive this fact was true.

Taigi smiled when she in turn complimented his name. This was a rare moment in which he felt absolutely prideful in what his parents had called him. Nobility. And only wider did his smile stretch as that word left her lips, how perfectly regal it sounded. Did he really come across as dignified and noble to this mare? It was surely soothing to believe so.

Her aura of warmth increased, he could feel it in the crisp air encompassing the meadow. His smile lessened into a slight, warm one and nodded in return to hers. "Well, then, miss Elawi, have you a tale to tell of how you came about this location, to stand and speak to me this very moment?" And a corner of his mouth nearly twitched up into a wide grin as he recalled that he was indeed the one to race to this meadow. And it was for no reason but the feel of fresh air weaving through his mane and the solid dirt under his hooves, strange scents being his guide in his never ending quest for adventure. So his original wish, to encounter the unknown, has come true.

A smile continued to play across Elawi's lips as she noticed Taigi's own widening. It made her heart swell to know that she had just pleased one of society's young - to know that a petty compliment of hers had made one feel so good about them self. Elawi flicked her tail happily, quite glad already that she'd met the fine young stallion.

Quirking a brow slightly, Elawi had to mull over her answer for a moment. In truth, she had just stumbled upon the meadow. No special story or anything - just a little happenstance. That was boring, but it was much like Elawi to tell the truth, no matter how brutal. "I just came upon it, I guess. Nothing too exciting about that," she explained, smiling softly. "What about you, Taigi?" It didn't matter that her story wasn't fascinating; she knew this, but she was sure that his was much better, much more exciting.
