yeah, i'm watching vh1 right now and i'm hyped up off of soda and i started thinking of something. so a lot of people are coming out as gay, right? and a lot of people are still keeping it to themselves. then you got people like Ellen who are openly gay but don't treat it like anything- don't flaunt or make it obvious (ok, for lack of a better example, are nothing like Jack from Will & Grace)
so now i ask all of you guys, for you are all gay/bi/something other than straight: how would you be if you were famous and gay?
honestly, i would be a bit crazy. not to the point of being annoyingly open, but like, i would talk a lot about our rites and equality for all of us. i mean, i wouldn't be an extremest, but i'd state my opinions about it. how about everyone else?

Publicly, I would be just me, not stating what I am, but acting as I am. If the question about gays and lesbians came up, of what I thought of them, I'd tell my opinion on the matter. Not much to it then.

I'm not flaunty with my sexuality, so i probably would dodge talking about it altogether. =/ Yeah i duno, gotta take into account the impact it will have on the career and whatnot.

i dunno... i mean, i've thought about it, but i think my sexuality may play into my fame. so, i think i'd be open about it, but not bring it up just cos. if i'm asked about it, or if i'm given an opportunity to stand up for our rights, then sure. buuut it would depend on if i'm out to my parents then Dx cooos i wouldn't want them to find out from some magazine article or something.
... wow... i swear like it would happen though xD i'm such a dork

I'm quite open about my sexuality. I choose not to hide it because it makes up who I am and I'm comfotable within myself to talk about it.. so I guess if I were famous I would be out and proud about it!

I just wouldn't be able to come out if I were a celebrity it would probally be too hard. I would let them find out them selvs. What I would have done is let them find out for them selvs, I would just support gay stuff and let out hints. redface

oooh that's a good question... hmm.. i'm not really sure if i would... i guess it would depend how it would effect me... i'm pretty out about my questioning lezzyness XD but i don't wear rainbow shirts with IMRU? or anything like that.. so i guess i would stand up for LGBT people including myself but i wouldn't just come out randomly in an interview... unless they ask XP

I'd be who i am now, If someone asked "Hey are you a lesbian" I'd say yes. Or if they asked about what I think, I'd state it. Otherwise I'd be me. Being too open, or too out there is whats hurting us most. We are hurting ourselves the way we think it's ok to dress all slutty for teh gay parade. I wear black to it come on now. Again, I can see hate mailflying, but whatever, I am who I am nothing else. And being gay does not define who I am, it is very much a part of me, but it doesn't define me.

I don't think there is anything wrong with anyone expressing pride for the person that they are. If they feel themselves in slutty clothes at the GAY parade, then why should they dress the way that is seen as "responsible" if it's not what they want? After all it is their parade.. We don't get many things that are about us, so why not embrace the day while it lasts?? And being too open?? Once again, I don't see anything wrong with it. They have pride, so good on them.

No one said you can't express pride, but seriously, people walking around in bikini's? I think it's going too far. I knew I'd recieve replies like these, I believe I stated that. The prade is to help us, to show who we are, not a chance for us to walk downtown in bikini's and underwear. It's a chance we have once a year to be free to express our pride. I wear rainbow things, yes, I show off my pride, yes, but I won't go around in clothes that would, otherwise, get you arrested. I'm just saying, that's plainly stupid, and when straight supporters see us doing that, it makes us look bad. It's one way we are losing straight support.

Hm, yes I understand how SOME people do go a bit over the top with some of their outfit choices.. but really it comes down to - if they like it then they can go for it. I dunno, it's just the way I see it I guess.

Hm, I see. Well I mean I know that here at the Mardi Gras all the gay guys get really into it and wear these feathered costumes and it's really really awesome, but people don't think badly of homosexuals after it because it a big thing and people are used to it by now.

Think of it as a cultural dance. In bright feathers. And underwear. And glitter.
