I don't think that this is a good idea. Eggs and hatchlings can get soft shells/sick easier by using this method.
True, if the real picture isn't shown, then you will not get any (unique) views, and it will kill your egg. Just yesterday someone who tried to save their grand-eggs got them killed instead by posting only the link and not their picture on the EggRescueHQ emergency forum.
xp That will happen with this trick too, especially if it's an egg that doesn't have many unique views yet. I guess with eggs that already have quite a lot of views & hatchlings there's a greater margin of safety, though. Or you could post the real picture and the fake one, both.
The other problem I see is that it may annoy folks and if you get known as a cheater or trickster, people may not click your eggs at all anymore. If they add you to their ignore filter, they won't see any of your posts anymore, meaning you won't even get the views that you get now when people load the thread (even if they don't click your egg). Most of the time honesty works best in the end... and eggs don't really need clicks anyhow, they help so you need less unique views but you can grow a healthy adult on no clicks at all.
