(move to historical fashions board)- TS
First, just to brag: I'm getting married next year December. My boyfriend and I are both in love with the Victorian era, and so we want our wedding to be complete victorian-themed. Since I'm making my own wedding dress, and are too tired to Google all the time, I'd love to have some help with my dress, decorations, invitations and food styles mrgreen
In case people are going to say I can't sow my own dress (my talents aren't really THAT great) my mother is going to help me with all the small detailing mrgreen

First, congratulations on your upcoming wedding! heart
Is there any particular type of look you want for your dress? Sailor style, frilly, stuff like that.
I do know of a site that sells Victorian/Edwardian style hats. If you're interested I'll post a link.

First of all, congratulations on your wedding, and good luck to you and your groom-to-be.
Secondly, I was thinking of posting a topic very similar to this. I'm not getting married or anything (oh, but a girl can dream....) but I'm the costume designer for a play which requires 5 bridesmaid dresses with a 'flavor' of Victorian style.
Most of my ideas came from the Victorian Trading Co. magazine/website. They have a lot of Victorian and vintage inspired clothing for sale.

this is my husband and My WEDDING photo... we did an 1880's wedding and my dress as you see was green, it was usually your BEST dress, so there really wasn't a limit on color, however back then you really didn't have a white dress as a good dress because it would often get dirty...

Congrats ^-^ Thank you, everybody, for the nice replies ^-^ I wanted some sort of a hoop skirt, with lots of lace. Like.. think ruffles, bows and lace. Also, some sort of headress would be beautiful, if I just knew how to make one sweatdrop

Like everyone else has said, congradulations. As for a website, there is one called batgearbeyond.com. If you go there, go to the bottom of the list of styles, and click on the historical link it will have a whole list of sites that sell historical costumes. I would definatelly recomend you browse these sites for ideas. Some of them even focus on doing historical weddings. Enjoy.

First of all: thank you for all the nice replies. I have found an idea for my dress.
<-- I will lengthen the skirt, and found out that I'd better not use a hoop. Since it makes my a** look gigantic. Yeah. emo All I need now is my fiance's costume, decorations, invitations and food ideas. mrgreen Thank you again for all your help ^-^

for our wedding it was 1880's but we are out west ... so we did it on a ranch/ ghost town called Shakespeare....
for dinner we served Brisket and mashed tatoes.... stuff you would find at a steak house LOL....
our cake was a 3 teer white with yellow roses.. our invites were ok we didn't have any so i can't help there.... but lacey is always a good thing..
our favors were elk jerky wrapped in quilt peices smile

From google maybe? I'm too lazy to do it myself mrgreen We don't have anything out of the ordinary here.. There is this beautiful park nearby, so.. That park is really special for us since it is the only green you'll see here. It's just this big ol' city. *sigh*
