Just a question from a newbie (to this guild, at least.) How did everyone get into History so much? Are you into Ren Faire/SCA/Adrian Empire?

Personally, I'm a SCAdian who got very happy when she saw this group in the spotlight. 3nodding

I've always been into History. I was that kid who read their History textbook from cover to cover. .___.

As for things I do, I go to the Ren Faire and read as many History books as I can.

That describes me quite well. ^v^; Half the time I only barely paid attention in class because I had already read through the chapter and did my own research.

I'm a Ren-Faire lover.

I've always been interested in fashion history. I've always loved the clothing from the Victorian/Edwardian eras. The clothing was so elegant.

I was watching a movie (1776 the musicle) and I really got interested in the lifestyle of people who lived in that era. I know it sounds weird but... It hooked me.

I'm also in the SCA, and jumped on the opportunity presented when this guild hit the spotlight. I have been in the SCA since the fall of 1995, during my first year at university, where I transferred after community college. I now work at a law firm to support my book and fabric habits, until such time as I can put my Superpower to work for me and get published. I write horror.

I've always been a history maven, though, and I spent my lunch hours during high school in the library. I'd read encyclopedias and look things up, one after the other in serial fashion, and to an extent, I still do that. Sometimes, I'll get so absorbed in reading that I'll forget to do such insignificant things as eat and sleep. blaugh My brain's also stuck around the 1930's at the moment, but I happily blame Mr. Lovecraft for that! mrgreen

I looked up the SCA, it looks interesting, to say the least.

I work and regularly write articles for a historical magazine (de Groniek)
It's Dutch, and we're mainly stationed in the city Groningen.

Not to make commercials or anything, but in case you're interested, you can read the latest edition here

Also, I study history in that same city, so I also read a lot about my main topics and watch the latest documentaries mrgreen

YAY! I'm not the only one! :p And you'd HAVE to work at a law firm to support the kind of fabric habits we all end up with, eh?

Mactabilis, it IS interesting. Look up where your local group is and watch a fighter practice some time. It's free to play (though there are memberships, but they're not mandatory) and you might end up becoming hooked. :p
