Of all her siblings, there was only one other girl. For a part of her young life, Zapalitit had thought that made them special. Momma was a girl, after all, and Momma was the best person in the world. Even her brothers agreed with that. So being a girl was good.
For that reason she sought her one sister out often. It was almost harder to do once their eyes had opened. OF the lot, only she was black, or at least mostly. It made finding her in the gloom much harder than finding, say, Lua, or Ngoma.
Still, she managed, and one day, while sitting with her sister, she asked "What do you think the upper world is like?" She looked down at her toes, darker than the rest of her. "Do you think we'll look lots different?"

With the darkness of the den, Kalama blended in perfectly. She had no problems moving around unnoticed, especially by any of her siblings when she wanted to spend time along or with their mother. Though, she could never get past her mother's watchful gaze. It was during a time when she was about to shift positions in the den when her bright sister found her. She stayed quiet before her ears flicked in her sister's direction. The question made her realize that she had not given it much thought as to what it looked like in the outside of their den. This had been her home since she was born, so this all felt natural to her. Her green gaze shifted to look at her sister, who's pelt was very light and easy to spot. "I don't know, I have not thought about it," She paused briefly, "I do, we do not look alike right now."

Zapa nodded. "My toes are the same as yours now. But then, they look gray, like everything else. Think we're gonna be gray up there too? She didn't think she wanted to be gray. It was the only color she knew, really, but there was an awful lot of it. Sure, she was a really light gray, but she wanted to be something even more different. Ngoma had her color gray. "If we have to be gray, I want to be different-gray! Like our brother!" She nodded at the golden-gray cub. "He's got a gray all his own, like you."
She pawed at Kala, her attention easily lost from one thing. That ear looked tasty...yeah! She leaned up and tugged on her sister's ear, nibbling it a bit and tugging.

She blinked at her sister, Kalama did not really worry all to much about the color that she was right now. All she knew was the darkness around them and that she blended in the easiest of her whole litter. "I think we will all be different...we're not the same right now, Zap."
And then before she could move she felt her ear get sneaked attack by her sister. A slight mew escape before she turned around to paw at her sister. She was going to get even with her!

Eep! Zapaliti balked, releasing the ear and hunkering low. What at first seemed a retreat, or even a move to cower, was shortly revealed to be a sneaky attack though, as she reached out and swatted rapidly at Kala's feet.
Zapa didn't play hard often, but when she did, she was surprisingly tricky. Curled up, she was mostly safe, and she could still bother her sis!

With a soft hiss, Kalama narrowed her eyes in play at her sister. After a few rapid attacks to her paws, she kept her sister in her gaze. Once she was certain of her sister's movements, she leapt forward to tackle her sister to the ground. In the darkness of the cave, she hoped that her aim would be good and she'd land on her sister and not the wall or the ground.

"Oof!" Zap went down heavy with her larger sister on top of her. "Heeey! Lemme up!" She wiggled about, trying to get free. Unable to use her pinned paws, she settled for whacking at Kala with her tail.
