The morning was getting to a slow start as Tabolt lowered himself to his belly at the entrance to his den. He could hear the gentle breathing of his lovely Aminali behind him as he stared off into the burning sunrise on the horizon. Today would be one of those quiet, slow days. Perhaps it would rain.
He let his mind wander as his tail thudded on the ground behind him. It'd been a while since he and Aminali had become companions. He was extremely happy; he could wake up with a smile every morning just knowing she was there beside him. He loved everything about her, especially the way she sometimes called his name in her sleep. She seemed to understand him, and began to fill that gap in his being.
His only problem was that he still felt like he was missing something. He'd toyed with the idea of pups before, but mentioned it to her without much conviction. He wasn't sure if she was ready. Honestly, he wasn't sure if he was ready.
How would it be to have pups? A few sets of extra paws running about? They had the room in the den. They had room for the largest of litters in their den. And feeding them wouldn't be a problem. No, Talbot wasn't worried about any of that. He was worried about the idea of him, Talbot Jabez, being a father.
It didn't seem likely that he would be any good, but what did he know? He hadn't thought he'd ever trust females again. He hadn't thought he'd fall for another being so quickly. He hadn't thought that he would find happiness so easily. If there was one thing he'd realized recently, the earth knew more than he did.
Still, it was hard to think about having a family when you were so unsure of yourself.

Breathing softly, Aminali kept her eyes closed as she sensed Talbot moving about. She could smell his scent very distinctly and she loved it. Sighing, she opened her eyes so that she could get a good look at him. She was quite sure that she adored Talbot and she really was quite content right now but there was a certain aspect of her life that was missing.
Aminali had been thinking for a bit and she knew that she was meant to be a mother someday but perhaps it wasn't now. Maybe she should stop thinking so much about this because she just wanted to enjoy her time with Talbot. Was he thinking about the same thing?
Getting up, the wild dog sat down next to her companion. "Hey stranger." Smiling, Aminali leaned up against him softly.
