He had made the decission long ago, infact the day that Alas had told him she was carring his pups and was going to be able to stay in the pack. His large heart was so filled with joy, he barely even recognized the weird sensation. Always a diplomat before meeting Alas, not even one to be so open with his feeling or show case them on his face.

He was the birthed alpha of his family. Always had he looked out for them, and found this quant little place to settle down and name Akiiki Chibale, the territory was just one of many homes and well one he found his heart felt right at home with.

Alas and him had five beautiful children. Two lovely adult femmes, who regardless to the way they loved them were not exactly blood related, and three sharply developing teens. Two sons and a daughter who was trying to keep up with her older sisters.

But regardless to the family expansion and the well development of the pack, the fact of war looming in from the neighboring pack was making him declare the one thing he hoped his eldest son would take lightly. It wasn't that Crunch though Frey couldn't handle the pack, no on contray he now thought that Frey would be excellent in the position of alpha, should the war take Crunch from his family.

No, the choice to acknowledge Tempeste as his heir was the fact she had grown up with Musketeer's pups, they all trusted one another, and regardless to the fact Mahli was concerned for his sister Moranna more then anything, made him notice that the silver male did acknowledge Tempeste's sharp will and even watch her anger.

She was the daughter of not two alphas, but by blood and adoption four. Hoping that the love and support from Akiiki Chibale would help, he was going to do the declaring now.

"Tempeste. Frey." The large blue male called out of the vacant den to his two eldest, Tempeste being the first of her 'litter' and Frey well being the first son, and knowing that Concordia didn't want to be incharge of her family as her father was.

He stood at the mouth of the den waiting for two of his five children, all that made proud sparks spring from his deep blue eyes.

Tempeste came from the forests away from her patrol post, she had been watching their territory, where it met with that of the Reign of Terror. She leapt over a fallen branch and skidded to a stop infront of her father with a slight smile. Her soft eyes were questioning, yet adoring, she had always looked up to her father and strived to embody his calm nature.
"Yes papa?" Her tail gave the slightest waver before her expression and posture became more serious.

Frey dashed out from the direction of the river, his chest and muzzle still dripping, evidence that Butterfinger had been trying without success to teach the teen to fish again. Frey hadn't the patience for the calm sport though, he always managed to scare the fish off while getting everything around him soaked.

"Coming!" Frey yelled before leaping at the den and shaking off. He grinned sheepishly at Tempeste and Crunch before sitting down his posture relaxed, water dripping from his muzzle. "Here!"

He gave a solid nod, no smiling when it came to the formalities of the pack. The way Tempeste quickly transformed from the running and slight smile to the more serious edge almost made him smile in pride of the first daughter, the one he had watched all through out the first night as Libernalas induced milk.

Then his head turned swiftly towards the sound of his son's voice. The spraying of water trailing behind him got a sympathetic look to grace the dark blue eyes. His blue, red and white marked son was soaked again.

Butterfingers was a good wolf, extremely good to attempt teaching Frey fishing. Maybe the orange male would have better luck with his own pups, when he found that right female.

With a sigh, he forced that hard edge back up into his eyes, "My children, I've called the two of you here, because of your strong personalties, and the stregnth you both possess." His eyes moved from one to the other. The clearing was vacant, but that didn't mean anything. Escpecially with that fox of Twix's around.

"I've watched you both grow and continue to grow into well rounded wolves. Though patience will come slowly, and keeping a calm demenor is still just out of reach, but these two things are what will develope the both of you into excellent leaders one day." Crunch paused to see what reactions or thoughts played out across his two eldests' faces.

Tempeste took the compliments with only a modest nod and listened with patience as her father spoke. Crunch wasn't one to ramble or flatter uselessly, she knew there had to be a point. She glanced at her younger brother curiously wondering if their father was about to declare one of them the next alpha. While a great part of her hoped to follow in her fathers pawprints, she would support her brother if it was to become his burden.

She wanted to tell her father that it was only through his teaching and her mothers love that she had become so strong. She wanted him to know that she would always love and appreciate her family. Still she kept the words to herself, only her eyes expressed the tender emotions she kept inside. She had listened well when her aunt Twix had shown her to remain calm in the face of anything, a demeanor that gave nothing away was best. From her mother she had learned to let slights and insults pass, it was wiser to be patient than pigheaded.

Frey straightened a bit, the grin vanishing from his face at his fathers seriousness. Still caught between puphood and adulthood the teen male would often bounce between fierce protector and playful tease. Yet now his eyes took on a slight gleam of concern. As nice as it was to hear his fathers words he wondered where this was leading.

He let his eyes shift slightly to take in his older sister before putting his attention back on his father. The word 'leaders' rang in his ears, was he about to name the next alpha? While Twix often told Frey he was destined to be an alpha, Frey had never responded with much enthusiasm, the idea of being responsible for the entire pack made him queasy. He would much rather fight and scout and stand second in command, he had been hoping his aunt Twix would invite him to be beta, at her side, and backing his father...that was what he wanted.

His eyes locked upon Tempeste watching her emotions trickle through that mask infamous to Twix. His sister was an excellent teacher in her own way and a hard a** that was a force to be trifled with.

However, when his eyes swept to his son, he knew the burden of being a leader far too early in his life, and wanted Frey to expriance life for what it was. So the concern that filled his son's face wasn't much of a surprise, and Crunch gave a small reassuring smile. Something he never would have done before meeting Alas, but felt it was necessary for his still developing son. The smile faded.

"Frey, your still young, still learning what you need to before reaching adulthood, and still being an teen with you brother and sister, I wouldn't want to rob you of that time. Not before you were damn good and ready for such a burden or cast that I'm declaring to day.

Continue learning patience, learn how to be a strong fighter and guardian, and continue to love as you have been, but most importantly, don't lose yourself in your journey to adulthood, my son. As some father's preach, their first born son is the next heir to the pack, but I feel that a decission made before you where born stands more secure."

Crunch reached out and tapped Frey under the chin, "Let your eyes warm back up, son." He then turned to look at Tempeste.

"Tempeste, you've grown up being and inspiration to Venera. You played with Mahli, Mastilan and Moranna and have their trust, but most importantly, you have been my decided heir since being in your teens.

"Yes, I just told Frey he wasn't ready, he is still a teen, but your an adult and therefor able to make your own decissions, you can accept or decline being my heir to Akiiki Chibale. I don't make such decissions lightly, and I've seen how both Venera and Concordia look up to you. Moranna feels more like and equal with Venera and you and therefor, those are just a few of the reasons why I'm declaring this now."

He looked between the grey, slate blue and orange proud adoring female before him and the red and white bolted blue strong growing male as well. Pride beaming from his deep eyes as he looked at both, pride that no mer alpha could give, but that of a dad with positive assurance in his mind on his decisions.

Tempeste listened to Crunch as he spoke to Frey and slowly she realized that if Frey was being told to enjoy his teen years, then she might be...

She looked at her father and smiled softly "Oh papa...Of course I accept, I'll make you proud...no one could be a better alpha then you, but I will try my best."

She thought of the rest of the pack, the rest of her family. She loved them all, her mother, her uncles and aunts, and her dear cousins, and most of all her beloved sister. She couldn't wait to share the news with Venera and get her sisters opinion for everything. Now she could stand tall beside her father, to know she had a chance, a real chance of proving how worthy she was.

Frey slowly relaxed with his fathers words and grinned again, his eyes regaining the warmth he had inherited from his mother. He was eager to continue learning, his love for his family would always keep him in his pack, but free of the great responsibility. As much as he resembled his father, he had a bright eager spirit that needed freedom, not power.

He looked at Tempeste and grinned leaping up excitedly. "Tempeste you'll be the best! I'll always be right behind you sis!" He laughed and nuzzled her relieved.

Crunch watched his two eldest, they both seemed rather happy about the choice, a part of his mind whispered that Tempeste was not his actually, but a daughter from an evil, hell bent alpha, but she didn't know this past and he hoped, against all odds, his daughter would not let Akiiki Chibale falter from it's motto.

A smile though was the only thing that came to the corner of the alpha's maw. "Don't forget, to have a strong beta by your side, Tempeste." His eyes would have flickered towards Frey, but he didn't want to force any ideas, Tempeste was wiser then most her age and this was something he knew his daughter could handle.

Though, something in Crunch told him Twix was going to have a cow, just cause he picked the daughter-who-wasn't-his-birth-daughter over his first born son, but all concerns behind him, Crunch knew this was the best choice.
