Today I met with this ACT/SAT tutor and College helper and whatever you wanna call him, etc. He kind of interviewed me, asked about extra activities and school etc. to figure out what kind of person I am, all of that.
My mom was there for the whole thing, and when he asked what activities I was into, she added in "oh, he's gay and in the GSA (Gay Straight Alliance)."
I felt really awkward and embarrassed all of a sudden. She didn't have any right to just say stuff like that about me to a pretty much total stranger. The tutor guy was fine with that information, but my mom still shouldn't have just said that - especially since GSA is supposed to be anonymous, and I have the right to decide how much or little to reveal about myself to people.
She's done this before, like...at a new years party a few years ago she was talking to a family friend, and the friend asked "So does Andy have a girlfriend yet?" and instead of just saying "no" she said "No, he's gay." Which was definitely unnecessary.
I was right there and was all like, neutral neutral neutral neutral
It's not even a big deal if people know - it just pisses me off when other people tell people without your permission that don't need to know.
Has this ever happened to you? Parents/whatever making a big deal about your sexuality && invading your privacy by telling other people that really don't need to know?
Yea this is longish, but I'm just annoyed now and getting the frustration out >.>
