User ImageWinter was beginning to set in on the lands, the wind blowing colder and the tree's loosing their color. Another year had past, the family had grown, and Tuli...Tuli was still alone. She huffed to herself, mist blowing from her nostrils as she exhaled, walking along the treeline that marked her family's home.

The sun, high over head, cast rays of light that warmed her coat at least a little, warding off the chill of winter. Her fields of flowers were gone, not to reappear until spring. During warmer months, Tuli could often be found sun bathing in the fields, surrounded by petals as colorful as she was. She wasn't a fan of the cold, it made her feel sluggish and drab.

She had no specific place to travel today. Her brothers were gone with their families, and she hardly knew her sisters...her parents were being their typical selves causing Tuli to feel the need to leave even more. Quietly she walked along in thought.

After returning his human to her tee pee, Tyzeaph headed out on his own again. He enjoyed traveling, and loved the silence. The winds this time of year were cold, and he worried about his human in the tee pee. Chaci was with her, but he figured he'd head back to them before it got too cold out.

He'd run into a few females during is last outing, and Kassie, his uber picky human, had let him know through her actions exactly what she thought of the females. Even if she couldn't understand them, she had a knack for reading others, and he trusted her. He'd had his own suspicions, but Kassie's looks had reconfirmed them for him.

Just once, he wanted a female to look at him like he didn't look like a freak with wings, a horn and a crazy tail. He knew what they wanted, his mother had warned him, as had others. But, it still bugged him.

"Do I look like that much of a freak?" He'd never been self-conciuos, but he was starting to wonder. And perhaps, his fathers distaste of grounds was starting to appear. He would never dislike Chaci, or his friends who were grounds, but...Maybe trying to find love in anything but a a winged was out of the question anymore...

Her muscles rippled slightly under her coat as a chilled breeze blew by her. She thought of how nice it had been when she and her siblings were younger. In the colder months, they would huddle together, her brothers always let her in the middle to stay warm. She missed spending time with them both, but they were off tending to families of their own now.

She carried on, deciding to take a path that lead deep into the forest. The trees would block most of the wind once she was deep enough. She watched the ground and withering plants as she walked along, not really paying much attention to what was going on around her. Had she been alert, she would have seen flashes of color in the distance, a stranger not too far from where she was.

Her parents had taught her to be polite, but always wary. There were many dangers in the form of other Soquili these days. Luckily, she had yet to have an encounter with the breeds that were rumored to eat the flesh of others...still, she found herself nervous upon meeting others. She never knew what to expect of them.

The steel colored Alicorn streched as another blast of cold air hit him. The colder it got, the stiffer his wings seemed to get. This would be the first winter where Kassie, his human, Chaci and him didn't have to go toTashika's tee pee for the winter months. They were both little last winter, so keeping Kassie warm was a challange.

The dry leaves cracked and crumbled under his red hooves, as he entered a wooded area. He knew the trees would block the wind, and he could possibly take a rest and enjoy the nature around him.

After Chani's close encounter with a Kalona a few months ago, he was on guard alot more than usual. He knew that there was another in the area with him, he could hear the hooves thump lightly on the earth. So it was probably female, but still. He grunted, and pushed through the under brush. This better not be a bad idea...

She stopped at hearing the sound of leaves being stepped upon, the crisp sound of them breaking caught her attention. Lifting her head she scanned the area. In the distance, her eyes caught glimpses of something red...or orange...moving among the trees. She watched silently as the figure seemed to move closer.

Her father had taught her to stand guarded, but never to strike first. He had always told her that if she realized she was near a kalona...or worse, a skinwalker, that she should take to the sky as quickly and quietly as possible. Unfortunately these days, both of the breeds also had wings, she'd be flying for her life....even the sky wouldn't be able to save her.

Her red eyes blinked with concentration, trying to make out the figure and if it was a threat, her heart pounded quickly in her chest.

The grey alicron grunted, yanking his back leg free of a long vine. Why one earth he didn't just go around the trees, he had no idea. After heaving his large form through the underbrush, he stumbled into the clearing with her. His his head a shake, he had a twig stuck somewhere, he glanced up. He blinked once, startled to see it WAS a female. Well, he'd gotten it right! And that was a blaintant guess too. He smiled softly at the stranger, hoping he didn't seem to threating.

She was tense, so he must've startled her. "I'm sorry miss. I didn't mean to startle you. " He smiled at her yet again, hoping he looked friendly to her.

He didnt' seem threatening at all, at least not after he spoke. A small smile crept upon her face as she tried to refrain from laughing as he seemed to fight with a twig that finally fell to the ground.

"No need to appologize...I just, I wasn't expecting anyone close." She lowered her head briefly in greetings. "Seems as though the forest got the best of you." Her voice soft, but her smiled widened. She didn't think that he may take offense to her joking.

Ty grinned, laughing. "Yes...It seems the forest won this battle." He bowed his head in return, before streching his his left wing to pluck another twig free. Well, she'd relaxed quite a bit, and didn't seem at all shocked by his apperance. Which in his book, was pretty darn awesome.

"I'm Tyzaeph...Ty for short." He smiled widely at her, tail flicking as he yanked another twig free. "How many of these things got stuck?"

She had learned long ago not to judge by looks. Her father, after all, was a mutant. Large wings, fangs, ram horns...just to name a few traits of the family. She watched as he continued to reach for twigs, "Here, let me help." She stepped forward, carefully taking the twigs and removing them from the delicate feathers.

"Tuulikki....or Tuli by friends," she said casually as she dropped a twig.

Once she was finished with one wing, she made her way around to the other side, her eyes looking over his markings as she walked around. An alicorn...her father had told her of such, but she couldn't recall ever meeting one. "Alicorn, yes?"

He smiled at her offer, streching out his wing out for her. "Tuli? Thats a pretty name."

He chuckled, nodding. "Yes." His tail flicked, a twig falling out as it moved. "I get it from my Mother and Grandmother... 3rd Generation Alicorn..." He chuckled, pride swelling in his chest. That was a fact he was overly proud of. He was part of a line of great and wonderful Alicorns.

"3rd Generation, huh?" She continued to pluck the last few twigs from his wing before taking a few steps back and casting a friendly smile.

Her voice was soft and friendly, but there was a bit of a nervous undertone to it. "I..I guess you'd say I'm a mutt. My father's a mutant and my mother's a ground." She was proud of her family heritage, but she knew that some...some looked down on other's if they weren't 'pure'.

"I've never met an alicorn, but my father has told me of your kind. You fly and heal....I can only fly." she looked away quickly, studying the ground in front of her.

He smiled at her in return, nodding in responce. So that was why she didn't look at him funny. Her father was a mutant.

"Really? A Mutant? Thats pretty cool actually." Pure? Who needed pure. He wasn't exactly from a pure line himself. "Mom is an Alicorn, and dad is a wind." A nasty wind, but a wind none the less.

"I'm pretty rare." He blinked. What? She could only fly? "ONLY fly? Did you know that Alicorns can only fly so high? Winds can get up alot higher than us. And we can only heal so much as well. We might have the traits, but their watered down. Trust me, your special too. Just in a different way."

She blushed a bit, she didn't realize that alicorns couldn't get as high as she could. "Yes, a mutant." she bobbed her head in agreement. "He looks...Kalona. But he's not." She'd never asked how her father happened upon all those traits...he had the cloven hooves, horns, and fangs...But he swore he wasn't Kalona. She'd have to ask one day.

"He'd be quite frightening if I didn't know him." She laughed and looked back up at Ty. "And, thank you." She stated softly to him, "For the special comment." Her smile broadened.

"So, what brings you to the forest today?"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 23, 2008 5:57 am

Ty laughed softly. "Well, when you look like me, judging is the last thing you do at first glance. " He grinned, streching his wings. He shuddered when another blast of cold whipped into the clearing. Drat it was cold.

He smiled warmly at her, shaking his head. "Your welcome. Everyone deserves to be told they're special. One thin I learned from hy human..."

"ah...Just wandering. I like to travel alot, so I'm on my way out again. Its getting too cold, so I might have to head back home earlier than I'd planned. "

"Your human?" her eyes widened. Her father had told her of humans, but the ones that he had interacted with weren't the nicest of the species. "Aren't you afraid?" she asked curiously.

Her father had been a war horse, escaping only when enemy troops thought they could rein him and unlocked his tie. The shackles had broken easily enough, to this day, they still wore the fur from around his ankles.

"They're vile creatures..." she said with a slight distaste.
