(sorry i took so long TT 3TT) Cubs.
He was going to be a father.
Apollo raised his head to the sky as he padded along, eyes glazed over in shock, joy, and fear. What kind of cubs would they be? Would he be a good father? Would Oboe resent him after all the pain?
They were silly thoughts though, and definitely not the kind of thing a soon-to-be father lion should carry on his shoulders as he hunts. For indeed Apollo was hunting.
He had left the safe confines of their new home (the large rock with the tree growing from it) to hunt. Oboe would need a lot of food, and he preferred her to refrain of working herself to hard.
And it was a good time to think.
But wait!
Apollo crouched low to the ground, for infront of him the grass was shaking. Food! His eyes glinted with predetory glee, and the lion slowly slunked closer and closer.
Finally within pouncing distance, the purple feline leaped, and a roar shattered the afternoon air.
And as he leaped, he glimpsed his prey.
His green. Feline. Smirking. Lying. Prey.
He managed to shift his momentum just enough as to no crush Bevin, but all in all attempt to pin him.
They had things to discuss. Him and Bevin.

"OH SHI--" Bevin hissed, hairs shooting up along his spine. The freckled tip of his tail twitched in nervousness as he stood gaping at his "old friend".
He had been following his favorite leopardess's scent for some time. He knew she was around that area somewhere and had been looking for her. He never thought in his wildest dreams that this purple lion would show up. He was in the exact same vicinity as Oboe? What the hell! Wait...That did not sound good. Had his plan failed?
Bevin slapped a charming smirk on his face.
"Heyyy...Buddy." he greeted awkwardly, but tried to smooth it over with his inviting tone. "Long time no see."

Buddy!?
Apollo glowered at the serval, his deep purple eyes threatening and painful promises. If only for a second.
Because the next moment, the lion was smiling from ear to ear. "Hello, Bevin," he purred, the barest hint of anger lacing his words. He could see Bevin for what he really was now.
Thing was, Apollo had a tendency to play with his food.
"So....Bevin. Seen Oboe lately?" He played the part of lonely sad lion, eyes drooping, tail touching the ground in depression. "I can't seem to find her. I tried to forget her, you see...Please tell me! Has she mentioned me at all!?"
Desperate. Needing. Hoping. Lying through his teeth.
But he wanted to see how Bevin would react. He wanted his 'friend' to dig a hole he could never get out of.

Bevin, despite what he may have seemed to other people, had the profound ability of reading people.
He saw through Apollo's guise easily. Not only could he see through him, but he knew he was lying since he smelled Oboe's scent all over him.
All...Over him.
Oh...Gods...
Though his charming smile remained, the green hairs on his spine still bristled. But then he frowned, playing along with the purple lion's "game".
"No, I haven't seen her at all, so I don't really know." the serval replied regretfully. "I was actually just looking for her...Following her scent." he added, a smile creeping onto his face.

Apollo sighed, as if he was so depressed at the fact that he couldn't find Oboe, when in fact, he knew exactly where she was. Just like he knew Bevin could see through his little act. Because he could just as easily see through Bevins. Now that he had the servals 'game' in his mind, he would always be able to tell when the creature was lying and when he wasn't.
"That is..." he licked a paw, and then continued, "sad. I would love to see her." He paused and sniffed the air then, and then looked at Bevin.
"Well!" he said rather cheerfully, though the smile on his face was far from cheerful, "Now that you mention it...I do smell Oboe. Goodness. I wonder why." He paused, and then glared at Bevin, glared and glared and hoped the serval would burst into flames. When he was, after several minutes, still not smoking like a grass fire, the lion blinked and looked off into the distance. Time for a plan change; seeing as the whole 'light the dumb serval on fire with a glare' plan had failed.
"Oh yes. I know why. It is because she is with me. Not you. She is happy with me, in love with me, sleeping in the same place as me. Curled up by my side. Saying my name, laughing at my jokes. And, oddly enough, she hasn't mentioned you," Apollo turned his dark eyes upon Bevin, the venom seemed to drip off his words, "Not. Even. Once. Hmm...that is odd. Why does this conversation of not being mentioned by Oboe seem so familiar. Oh right!" He laughed, "It is because you said the same thing to me last time we met! Excpet this time?"
He lowered his face, and growled, "It isn't a lie."

"SHUT THE HELL UP, YOU PIECE OF FILTH!" Bevin screamed. His teeth were clenched so hard he could hear them grinding. His eyes felt hot with rage and his body heaved with each seething breath. His claws ached to rip open that idiotic purple lion's idiotic face.
How. Dare. HE.
IT WASN'T TRUE.
Even if it was, why did he have to shove it in Bevin's face?
IT WASN'T FAIR.
"The only reason she hasn't mentioned me is because she only talks about personal stuff with the people she actually LIKES." he blurted, body trembling. Well, if what he said were true, it would hold against him as well. Because Oboe had never mentioned Apollo...But it was okay for right then. As long as he bluffed through his teeth, he might do some damage to the lion.
And bandage himself.

If Apollo only knew how close his and Bevin's minds reacted to each others insults, he might have felt disgusted with himself. As it was, he couldn't read minds, and his whole body shook. His claws dug into the rough ground and the fur along his spine rose. HOW DARE HE!
Apollo was an emotional war, riding precariously on the proverbial fencing between finding peace and becoming an emotional wreck. Those kinds of comments, ones that questioned if Oboe really cared about him or not, could easily push him over the edge.
For a moment, the purple lion looked fearful, and his eyes darted. Then he remembered what Oboe had said. On how Bevin said things that weren't true. Bevin wasn't to be trusted.
The lion growled and raised a paw. "I DARE YOU TO SAY THAT AGAIN!" he roared, and swung, aimming to bowl the stupid serval over, his teeth bared in anger.

"ONLY STUPID CUBS ASK AND TAKE DARES!" Bevin hissed, eyes glowing with pure, concentrated hate.
He jumped out of the way of his enemy's swipe, gaping at the attempted attack. Did he really just do that? Did that fat, ugly, fruity-looking lion just SWING AT HIM?
Oh, NOW it was ON.
Muscles rippling as he tensed his body, the serval arched his back and prepared to lunge at his target. Whoever underestimated the sheer power of an angry serval seriously had something coming to them.
Teeth bared and claws outstretched, Bevin sprinted forward.

It certainly was a lovely day...
The air was crisp and clean, the sun was bright and warm, the grasses were swaying gently...
Oboé sighed and smiled. It really was a lovely day.
Unfortunately, she was not out and about for a stroll. She was searching for the owner of the very familiar scent she had smelled. So, she'd been walking; strolling on that perfect day, enjoying the surroundings.
But what was right in front of her?
Her two favorite boys.
"Bevie~." Oboé cooed once her golden eyes spotted his form. "What are you doing here?" she continued to walk towards them in her own lazy pace. "Are you two playing?" she asked innocently. Perhaps she knew they were about to rip out each other's throats, perhaps not. She simply stood smiling, watching the two of them.

Apollo roared, ready to swat the stupid serval from the as Bevin ran at him. He was not going to be embarassed by a serval! He may have lost to a lion, but he would not loose to a serval! NEVER!
But the roar he had been producing soon became a garbled squawk and he felt a grin light his face, and seemingly forgetting his fight with Bevin, dodged and ran to Oboe, his eyes alight. "Oboe! You shouldn't be out! You need to be careful!"
He paused at Oboe's side, and glared at Bevin, and then smirked. HA! Oboe liked him better.

Bevin's jaw hit the floor at the sound of an ever-familiar voice saying an ever-familiar nickname. His ready-to-kill posture snapped into a lax one and his heated emotions froze in an instant.
"...Oboé...?!" he choked, jerking his head to see the leopardess sauntering over. At her question, he twitched his ears back. "We were-" Before he finished, he saw his ENEMY rush over like a stupid, love-struck FOOL, fussing over her and worrying about her. Bevin's head lowered and he stared dangerously. But then he smiled.
"What does he mean, Oboe?" he asked kindly.

"Ohhh, be careful? Is there a dangerous beast around?" Oboé asked, eyes glinting with humor as she looked at her mate. She loved to tease him and twist his words and their meanings. Of course she knew what he was talking about.
...Or did she?
"Hmm?" the leopardess hummed, turning her attention to her serval companion. She frowned, looking confused. "What does who mean what, Bevie?" she rambled. She smiled a sort of beckoning smile. She had missed Bevin. So much had happened since she last saw him. Normally they traveled together, staying close at all times. But there did come times where they parted for long periods.
Turning her head away from Bevin, she smiled at Apollo.
"Ahh, my two favorite boys can finally meet. A serval and a ratel..."

Apollo purred loudly, nuzzling Oboe in a show of affection that was over-exaggerated just to tease and pinch the haughty nerves of a certain green lump of ANNOYING that insisted on staying around. Bevin would sooner or later leave, and Apollo would be fine with that. Or so he hoped.
Of course, he had also hoped that Oboe would be furious with the little monster, but she was, seemingly, rather happy to see him. Her flustered over, his brows scrunched, making his young face look much older. "Oboe!" he whined, and licked her cheek (another knock at Bevin's disgusting ego), "You know what I mean! Exerting yourself when not necessary could cause unseen damage to the--" he puased, looking at the look on Bevin's face when the serval interrupted, questioning as to what Apollo was speaking of.
So Apollo chose not to use the word cubs, and instead teased Bevin in an almost nonchalant way. "I mean, you wouldn't want to damage those things," he smiled, purple eyes glared out of the corner of his eye at Bevin, and an annoying twitch spazzed on his lips as his mate mentioned favourites.
Favourites? With that thing?
He was so irritated he only grunted at being called a ratel.
He would meet Bevin, indeed, and then Bevin would meet his teeth, then his throat, then his stomach. And only then would Apollo be happy with meeting the serval who had nearly ruined his life.

...WHAT?!
Were they...did they...It almost sounded as if...
No...
It was impossible.
It was so impossible that Bevin shoved the thoughts out of his mind, not even wanting to ask the question. Not even wanting to ask if Oboe was--If she and Apollo...UGH! NO! Why did it have to happen? Things were fine before when it was just him and Oboe, going where they wished and doing as they pleased. Why did this saucy male have to get involved? He ruined EVERYTHING!
But wait...
Just because Bevin's life was being ruined didn't mean that Apollo's life couldn't be ruined along the way. Bevin smirked, staring right into the purple male's eyes.
Bevin would stick around, oh yes...He'd be the best "brother-in-law" ever.
"So have you settled down here, Oboe? Not permanently, of course..." he drawled, smirking.

Oboé sighed happily and closed her eyes, nuzzling against Apollo and basking in all of his affection and attention-giving. When did he come to love her so much? And when did she come to love him? He was just so pleasant. Her heart fluttered and she nuzzled his cheek, ears folding back in her happiness.
"Things?" the leopardess echoed, not favoring that term on her lips. "Well, I'll be careful." she mumbled uncaring, lifting a paw and grooming it.
Hmm, Bevin was acting strangely. It was almost as if he was up-in-arms around Apollo. But why would that be? Oboé couldn't quite place it...Well, it wasn't that important, surely. Bevin didn't take many things seriously, so she was sure it was all fine.
"Settled down, no!" Oboé answered with amusement, stifling a laugh at Bevin. "Just a nice little space I'm occupying for a while. Apollo picked it out~." she drawled, glancing at said lion. She looked back at the serval. "Would you like to come see?" she asked, suddenly excited. She stood and began to trot over to the happy rock with the shady tree on top.
Ah, yes, her two favorite boys...With them by her side, a nice place to stay and the perfect weather, what more could she ask for?
