When: November Where: A Park, noted for its large twisting green slides Why: Bridget is taking a stab at the 'mother' thing. Weather: Unusually warm for the season, partially cloudy. Open [Dg] and I "Buh, buh, buh, buh!" Crowed the blue humanoid as he climbed down the inside ceiling of a slide. "Sticky-fingers, you gotta SLIDE down the slide. That's why its called a slide?" Bridget replied in a singsong voice she reciently adopted. Her hand automatically smoothed out her shirt before unsticking the newt from the slide, "Wanna try one more time?" The young woman brought the odd child back to the climbing area for him to scamper back up to the top of the fortress and slide down again. A crooked smile crossed her face a moment before masking to blankness while she watched like a hawk.

It was about that time that four children walked up. They way they walked together and seemed to cling to each other hinted that they were probably siblings - regardless of how very different each of them looked. But hey, this is Gaia! These things happen!
The eldest was a boy with ruby red skin and black hair that he held back in a ponytail. The boy wore a simple long sleeved black shirt and jeans, and carried another child. Besides that kid, there were two kids walking close with them. One a shy boy that walked close to the other and sometimes held onto the taller kid's wrist, and a girl who was holding the red boy's free hand.
The toddler being carried shared the elder boy's hairstyle - another hint that they were family - except that his hair was green and his skin a peachy color. The tot wore a long sleeved yellow shirt and coveralls, that it was hoped he'd be able to play in, as well as sneakers. Though it wasn't totally obvious, here and there one could see what looked like...leaves? poking out of his shirt.
The last boy was an extremely pale child with hair the color of ripe tomatoes, worn in thin braids that hung to his shoulders. The boy looked shy and wore a loose gray hoodie and black jeans, trying to hide himself in the thick garments almost - and he was so very thin!
The final child was the shortest - minus the toddler - and the only girl. A small, cute little thing, with purple skin, black hair, minute horns, and lovely white wings, she was by far the most energetic of the group. She danced forward and back, just barely staying in her companion's grip, and eager to try the different slides.
"Bwoo!" the youngest boy squeaked when they were near enough to see Balamb sliding out again.
"ooh! yes! Very blue! Pretty!" the girl agreed with her smallest brother, bouncing on her heels. Such loud children. Hehe.

Bridget looked towards the group of kids. Her grin flickered in their direction and she stiffened slightly.
"Buh!" He scampered back up the slide, momentarily frightened, he had spotted them. Bridget walked over.
"Buuuh!" Balamb called from inside. She pursed her lips and in response thumped the slide's top. THWUMP!
"Bah-buh?" His head poked back out with his eyes wide to stare at his shabbily dressed 'mother'. Her look was puzzlement. Normal kids ran up to complete strangers to ask to play with. Balamb didn't, he hid to be as far away as possible.
"Hello, come play, hmm?" Bridget asked softly.

Kahlua hid a bit behind Bailey at the sight of other children. Why they'd dragged him out here, he didn't know. He liked hiding in his room all the time. It was Ebby's fault for convincing him to come out!
Bailey - the eldest kid, of course - let Absinthe down to toddle along with their sister to go see Balamb. Sinny had previously met a child who didn't want company, but Ebony hadn't so she was curious about it.
"Aww...what's wrong with your little one? He doesn't seem to like us - and we aren't mean." Ebby asked Bridget, looking up at the woman, sadly.
Sinny, on the other hand, leaned forward a bit, so he was practically in Balamb's face when he smiled and waved. "Lo."

"He's like... the shyest child I've ever met," She replied,"He tends to be as clingy as, well, I don't know off the top of my head, but you know?"
"Buh?" Balamb asked shyly towards his mom before adding, "Lo. Bawam." He climbed down from the ceiling to a sitting position indicating himself when he said 'Bawam'. After a second or two he started to move at a distinct lean away from Sinny. He wondered what this one wanted from him.
"Play Balamb. Play with the others," Bridget urged.

"Kahlua might be able to give him a run for his money." Bailey commented with a warm smile, as he approached, indicating the redheaded boy pouting a bit behind him.
"Hey! Bailey! That's not nice!" said redhead whined a bit, before ducking back behind his brother.
"Goofball." Bails said affectionately before turning back to watching the youngest two.
Ebony, meanwhile, was squeaking happily over Balamb. "So cute!"
And Absinthe, well he was following the other child a bit, since he thought it was a game. "Sinny." he added, pointing towards himself.

"I 'spose I can sit over here and watch you all. I didn't want Balamb to be alone. I'll be close by," Bridget said happily. Sure if anything went wrong the kids would tell her, and she could then fix it. At least now she could read that book she found.
Balamb clasped his hands together and rubbed them nervously. Play? Play fun, alone. Play scary now. Here? Sinny?
"Gween t'hop?" Balamb asked tentively. Would they like to go to the summit and climb around the slides with him? He started to scoot out of the slide and shakily stand. He decided that he wanted to go anyway, "Gween t'hop."

Absinthe had absolutely no idea what this was but he followed Balamb instinctively toddling along after him. Ebby scurried on ahead of them to test out the slide, rushing up to the top to see if she could fit in safely without damaging her wings.
Kahlua hung back till Bailey slowly nudged him over to another slide. "Go on, you need more exercise anyway."
"Well why aren't YOU going sliding?" the redhead grumbled as he started to walk.
"I'm watching to make sure everyone's okay." the older boy intoned with a nod, shooing off his brother before standing back to watch. Instinctively he checked his pocket to make sure he had a package of bandaids on him - oh good, he did. Just in case!

Balamb was a clumsy little tot. Who teetered back and forth when he walked uprightm but what made up from his clumsiness was his excitemet. Balamb loved climbing and finding dark hidey holes to squeeze into!
"Dar-dar-dar," He sang out looking around, continuing with his baby speech. He climbed the stairs along the side and took a left instead of a right. Instead of going down he went up, up, up. Somehow he found the top of the highest most twisty slides ever! No dark places were here for him. He frowned. There were three that pushed out in different directions into warm green darkness around them.
"Eeny-meenie-miny-mo?" Balamb asked shyly of Absinthe.

Sinny nodded. "You do't." he said with another affirmative nod and a smile.
Bailey watched carefully as they climbed. Hopefully they didn't get themselves into trouble.
Meanwhile, Ebby was already coming down her first slide, wings fully extended behind her and flapping a bit when she flew out, keeping her aloft for a moment. "WHEE!"
"eeeeeeeeeek!" the happy noise of the sister was cut off by the scared noise of the brother as Kahlua came out of another slider, looking terrified.

Balamb started to point and mumble the eenie-meenie, since he really didn't know the whole thing - making up important counting sounding words. But before he could swish is finger into the one he wanted Ebby screamed happily.
"Guhk!" He gulped and crouched. The second, more frightened scream was drowned out by the big ruffles he had, from his shirt. "No, don' wanna."
All he could think about is people. People, people, people everywhere! A niggling flash - a picture something known or seen at somepoint but the meaning or grasp of it all - gone from Balamb's knowlege. It was nearly overwhelming. A ball of dresses and tresses and wine and food. Happy screaming and a lone frightened high pitched scream layered for a split second over reality, the people in masks...
Bridget looked up from her book momentarily, lazily looking at the screaming children. Gee they were a lot like her sister and brother. She wondered how old they were, and if Rhia and Eric wouldn't mind playing with them, seeing's as they're only ten. No. Seven? The petite cocked her head for a moment in ponderance before going back to reading. Everything was fine for now.
[[Not only is Balamb not going to like people in general, but apparently he's going to be frightened of masks and clowns and such. o.O; ]]

Sinny looked confused and carefully touched the blue boy on his arm. "Wuh?" he asked, somewhat worried. "S'kay, s'kay." he tried to assure the other child, looking somewhat confused.
Ebby giggled and pointed at Kahlua. "Silly! Let's do that again!" and before the redheaded child could really recover, his baby sister had grabbed his hand and dragged him up to the top of another slide.

"Nn," He replied, he cracked his eyes open and the people and place was gone. Balamb's head popped up, looked around wide eyed and then they focused on Sinny. Meanwhile his mouth had slowly dropped open in wonderment. They all dissapeared? This place get not the same, now same?
"S-curree..." he mumbled sheepishly as he tucked his body together hoping that Sinny was thinking of the scream, "You go now? I go..." he screwed up his face momentarily for a look that said, 'Wait for it. I know what I'm trying to think of...' to end his sentence. He motioned afterwards, Balamb would have said ladies first but, well Sinny wasn't a girl, at least Balamb assumed Sinny wasn't, anyway.

Absinthe looked worried for another second then smiled. "No no. You go. I go nixt." the boy pronounced with a nod. "You show me."

'Ho'tay, I go den," He said, and preceeded to stick himself to the side of the slide on the inside and crawl downward into the warm green-dark all the while whooping 'Wheeee!'
At the end he poked his head out and looked around and sat at the end.
