So apparently a few of my co-workers have the common sense of a Kindergarten student. All of this was told to me by Jen who probably heard it all from Bruce.
Waitress Gina was in the bar getting drinks for her table. Now, I think I've said it before but Amy is a b***h of a b***h sometimes. She doesn't want to get drinks for the waitresses, but she also hates it when they get their own drinks. I guess our dining room people just shouldn't be allowed drinks...
Gina grabbed her tray and started to walk off when Amy pulls on her hair. Hard. And Amy goes, "Get out of my way!" and after every word she would tug on Gina's hair. Amy did this in front of a full bar.
Gina walked off and gave her tables their drinks and ran to the bathroom crying. She locked herself in. I don't think anyone knew at the time what happened. It took Pat a few minutes to convince Gina to let him in so he could talk to her.
Pat went into the bar to tell Amy she had to apologize to Gina. Amy refused. Which got Gina pissed off. And then to make matters worse Edee had to open her big mouth and she told Josh that Gina was being a cry baby. Edee didn't realize Gina was in the dining room so Gina flipped out again started yelling that she was tired of all these people and she wanted to quit.
And to add insult to injury Josh was trying to start s**t with Jen, Bruce, and Gina. Gina was talking to Bruce earlier that day and Gina was saying something about stomach problems. So Josh goes to Jen and tells her that Gina said she is having Bruce's baby. And I guess when that didn't work he told Jen that Edee talks about Jen behind her back. Jen told Josh she could care less.
Man, if Amy would of tried to pull my hair like that I probably would of slapped her. I'm sorry, but that is not how you get someone out of the way. "Excuse me" works and so does "Please move" even "Move!" works. The last one isn't very nice, but sometimes it has to be done. In what world is pulling on someones hair in the middle of the bar a way to get them to move. And I'm sure it really hurt. If you are walking away and someone grabs you by the pony tail your head snaps back. I'm surprised that Gina didn't lose her drinks.
And honestly at that point I would of told Pat either Amy has to go or I'm leaving. I would not let anyone touch me like that. Heck, if Gina wanted to I'm sure she could even press charges. Most times cops will consider that as assault. I know that's going far, but it's possible.
Those waitresses put up with so much s**t with Amy. And Pat doesn't do anything...
I'm so glad I wasn't working...

Wow...that is really sad, if she had to pull on her hair then where was Amy going...obviously she could have walked right behind her and been a courteous person as Gina was leaving the bar area. If Amy doesn't want any drinks served...well, she might think about changing careers. It's a r-e-s-t-a-u-r-a-n-t. I can spell! If I were Gina I would file a complaint with the manager, and hope to get Amy fired, because that kind of conduct is not welcome in a place of work.
What is up with everyone trying to start something? I swear, do they have nothing exciting going on in their lives so they have to drill up drama? How lame. I would say though that Gina may need to get a tougher skin and stand up to some of these people, because she has every right to. If she were to do that people might stop trying to start stuff and do what they do to her. Why is everyone hating on Gina? What the heck did she do to make people act like this to her?
Pat needs to get some cajones! He's the manager, right? I swear these people have become so lazy in doing a job, they just tip toe through the pansies and collect their checks. I for one am tired of people who are self absorbed pre-teens and five year olds.
Yeah, so glad I wasn't there, I would have set some heads rolling! LOL I have strict standards wherever I work and I, personally, don't tolerate people who use and abuse and just sit there while at the work place, it's sooo not appropriate, I would have sooo fired a couple people.

That's ridiculous. No one should be touching any one's hair for any reason. It really is like a kindergarten.
And as for her "sticking up for herself" that's cute and it works in novels and movies, but IRL the people laugh in your face usually. And that makes it worse. The manager should be the one putting his foot down.

Actually it does work in real life. I've had to do it. My husband stands up for himself and I've seen many managers and co-workers stand up for themselves to others and when they do the other person or people are taken back and even apologize. It really depends on how you do it. If you do it like a child on their level then it's not going to be effective, but if you approach it was sound, adult manner it works. No one should put you down or make you feel inferior. If they do you have every right to say that was inappropriate and I want an apology. You don't have to be mean you just have to take the high road and state where you are, are you in a nervous state where you are scared it will cost you your job for standing up for yourself or are you a mature and honest person who will not be offended and taken advantage of in a place of work?

That doesn't mean it's going to work for anyone else. I got bullied from fourth grade until tenth when I quit. Do you think my tormentors ever cared if I came to them and asked to stop? Please. In a workplace, the situation is different, a manager was harassing me when I first started my job and I went to another manager with a co-worker and we told her how rude he was being. He had managed to make both of us cry at work in one day. The manager must have spoken with him about the situation, because then he stopped. To say the person should get a "thicker skin" is like placing the blame on them. It's like "oh well stop being a crybaby, and deal with it." No one should have to go through torture to make a living.

Now I have a different story from the waitress that was working that night. She is saying that Amy didn't pull her hair hard and she did it all joking.
But still, you don't touch someones hair like that. Not only is it invading someones personal space you just don't touch someones hair when working with food. You don't touch your own or anyone else's. It's unsanitary.
The owner/boss man was around when it happened, but if he talked to the bartender about it I don't know. It's really none of our business in the end.
And the thing with Gina is she is lazy. She's a nice girl and all but she is always 45 minutes late for her shift. Edee said they had 4 tables that night and Gina only took 1 table. And they had to split tips. Gina spend her whole night talking to Bruce or hanging out in the bar. She doesn't do her job.

I was teased relentlessly from elementary to High School, so I know all about tormentors but they mostly did it just to make themselves feel better. I took it way too seriously but once I lightened up and began standing up for myself then they really had lost their interest because they could no longer hurt me. If they can't handle the bull or the harrassment then they should go over the persons head and state their complaint. IF it continues, and I know quitting may not be an option, but then they may want to take it even higher. I know it sounds stupid but if she continues to let them do it, she's just begging for the attention as well. Instead of going and crying I would have gave her the nastiest look ever and confronted her as to why the tormentor was behaving that way. Most of the time they are like, "uh uh...um...it's just for fun," or they say, "because you are in my way." With that she could have stood up for herself and said, "an excuse me would work far better than being physical or rude and I will not be treated like that, if there is a further problem I will report it." A childish co-worker is one who may or may not continue but if it does happen again, let the warning come to pass because most people are too scared to say anything in fear that they will be judged and lose their job or they will look like a whiny b***h. However, it's in everyone's right to be treated with respect in the workplace, and those that don't need to be dealt with, not ignored or just brushed off.
And just like Shannon said, she never should have even had contact with her hair, joking or not. As for lazy workers...*rolls eyes and grinds teeth* that's still no excuse to treat her meanly, if anything the bosses should have fired her long ago. Repeated tardiness and lack of doing ones job is NOT acceptable. If anything they should not just bow down and let her do what she is doing. 45 mins late denotes a write up, unless it's called in beforehand and told about, otherwise, three tardies=dismissal. I know it's a small place but still, it's not worth the stress on the managers and staff to have to pick up someone else's slack. It's inappropriate and shows blatant disregard for the ethics of work. You go to work to work for a reason, if you want to play around, you can hit the street, it's not worth any employers time to ignore or brush off a lazy and disrespectful person.
Sorry, I just have a very strict outlook on workplace conduct and rules. I take work seriously and it's becoming too much of a habit for workplaces to put up with such inconsiderate and inappropriate employees. Rawr...it really sucks, because I'm always at the other end picking up the slack for others who are lazying around and picking their nose.

This is the last thing I'm going to say. What works for you, will NOT work for everyone else. And it did NOT work for me. And I couldn't attend public school after 7th grade because I'm really ******** up in the head from what happened to me. I'm 21, I know how to live my life now. But it took me over TEN YEARS to regain the confidence to even speak with store clerks. I was so afraid of people. And not everyone can just "not cry" when they're facing any type of conflict. Maybe you can. I can't.
This is getting dumb.

I was tormented in school. Heck, I was tormented before I even made it to Kindergarten. This one middle school kid who lived in our little development would always ride by on his bike and yell, "Fat Greasy Pig!" at me every day. One of his friend was playing with a bow and arrow and missed me by 3 feet. I was sitting where the bow and arrow hit minutes before.
And it just got worse after that. Elementary and middle school was worse. I had to sit by the kids that would always bother me. They would whisper horrible things to me when I was trying to do my work. And even after we got the principal involved the teacher did nothing.
I tried to stand up for myself and it made matters worse.
In high school I used to be picked on by this one kid. Finally in 11th grade he became my best friend and people stopped picking on me. He would stick up for me.
But most of my time in school I was picked on and bullied and pushed and shoved. And fighting back just made it worse. Telling people what was going on didn't help.
And the whole work thing. It's hard to find good people to work. We are kind of stuck with what we've got at this point. If we fire someone now we'll be screwed for the holiday season. We don't have time to train all new people. Christmas and New Years would be a disaster.
Plus, it's not my place to know if these people are getting in trouble with my boss. It's none of my business. It's not like our boss would yell at someone in front of the rest of the staff. That would be unprofessional.
Burrito, you would hate working where I work. We are huge goofs. Always joking around. For the most part we have fun. We are all a bit childish. Our boss had to hide the red food coloring. We got the one waitress good with that.

Reyire Alexander Allleex Our boss had to hide the red food coloring. We got the one waitress good with that. That musta been hella funny. xD Oh, it was. The waitress was mad at us. And it was a spur of the moment thing. We just wanted to see what the food coloring would look like on skin and she just happened to wander by. Bruce and I looked at each other and then he started cursing. And I was all, "OMG! Edee! Grab the first aid kit! Hurry!" Bruce showed her his hand and she starts freaking out. Bruce had to run to the sink to pretend to wash off the cut because he burst out laughing. Edee realized it was a joke and got so pissed. ^_^ Then we couldn't get the food coloring off of Bruce. And then the next day Bruce really did cut himself bad and Edee didn't believe him. Lol
