Lex backed up slowly. He was going to do it! He would. He backed up further until he reached the point in which he'd have a good enough start. Lex began to trot before it turned into an all out run. He grew closer and closer, his heart thumped faster. He jumped off the hill slope and landed down on the grass. It wasn't a big hill or anything and nor was where he landed far from where he started but Lex was proud of himself regardless.
He pranced about, all smiles. Tired, he sat down on the grass. It was a nice day out, sun was warm and the breeze, slight. A perfect autumn day. He was getting better at sneaking away from his dad and brothers. His mom was currently gone to who knows where so it was one less family member to get away from. Lex adored his family, he really did, it just was nice to sneak off and see things once in a while. Right? That didn't make him a bad son or brother, or did it? Lex gulped, feeling guilty. He sure hoped it didn't.

She trotted along, her head held a little higher than most soquili carried theirs. She had gotten bored, again, with the ramblings of the old stallion that her mother had left to care for her. Aglaia appreciated the dedication, but geez, Scythe talked of nothing of rights and wrongs, dos and don'ts.
Topping of of the small hills that graced the grasslands, her eyes spotted a black figure in the distance. It was too small to be an adult. Her eyes narrowed just a little. She held her tail up just a tad and started heading in the direction of the other foal. She wanted to see who this new soquili was.

Lex poked at the grass thoughtfully. It looked tasty, well why not? He bent his head and tentatively took a bite. Good grass, but tasted similar to other grass. But he supposed that was natural since it was still grass. He took another bite and another. Chewing, his gray eyes swirled around, his head moving along with them to see all he could see. It was a nice area, the one he came to play in. Mostly grasslands, his hill, but there were trees and shrubs around as well. He stood up.
What was he to do now? Jump again or find something else to do? He could investigate to see what sort of critters lived in these parts, it would be really cool to find another that could be a play buddy. Perhaps a squirrel or maybe a raccoon. He was about to trot over when Lex saw something. This something was nearing him. Oh! What or who was that? It was dark in colour too, for the most part, and about the same size as him! Lex grinned, though nervous also. It might be another foal but what if it wasn't? But only one way to find out....he'd just wait and see.

She kept her head high even though she knew she had been spotted by the stranger, "I doubt he's even worth my time..." she thought to herself as she got close enough to distinguish gender.
She stopped just short of where he was, but within hearing distance. He was a unicorn...Jealosy bubbled slightly within her. She loathed the different breeds. Her siblings had gotten wings and she....she was just normal, bland, and indifferent. She hated them for it. "Who're you?" she snapped out. Her eyes wandering over his markings, the strange 13 behind his flank that almost seemed smeered. She'd seen that marking before she thought....

He grinned, wide. It was another foal! Just like him! Lex loved meeting other horses, it was so much fun to make new friends. He had heard from his parents to not go near certain types of Soquili but this foal seemed all right. As the foal crept close he could see that the foal was a she, a filly. Well that was all right, girls were cool too. Maybe nicer than boys? Lex wasn't too sure about that, his mom was okay but she wasn't that nice. Though perhaps he was remembering her wrong.
She was pretty bright in certain areas. Very blue and green. She definitely could stand out, maybe not so much at night time but still with those colours she probably could still be seen. Lex didn't stand out that much, he was fairly dark, with his black and red but he supposed he could be easily seen in daylight. He wondered what it would be like, being so bright. He could imagine it being cool.
His grin fell a little at the filly's words. That was rude! Of course having only brothers, rudeness occurred and he was used to it, sort of, but they had only just met. Lex pouted before grinning again. Best to be polite and well-mannered though, perhaps this filly would then feel guilty and apologize? "I'm Lex!" He said, cheerfully. "And who are you?" He asked. He neared her, looking her over. "Ooh what's that?" Lex eyed the symbol on her hip curiously.

She stood still as the other foal approached her, he seemed rather....energetic. She stood in the same spot, but turned in circles as the colt moved around her, her nose still stuck a little higher than it should have been.
"Aglaia...and that's the mark of my mother." she answered rather sharply. She wasnt' too sure about this colt, but, she would try.
"What...what are you doing out here?" she asked, looking around to see if the colt had parents around. Maybe he had wandered away like she had? She looked over him, trying to decide if he might be any fun at all.

She really wasn't that nice. That discouraged Lex but he'd still be nice back, though Lex couldn't imagine ever being mean, it was completely against who he was. He eyed the symbol on her hip again. "Oh? I got something from my dad." He shook his left hip at her to accentuate exactly where it was and what it was. "It's kinda cool, my brother's didn't get that trait from him, only I did so I guess I'm special." He laughed.
"I was playing on the hill over there." He nodded his head towards the hill. "I jumped! It worked, sort of. Well not really but it was still fun to attempt." It was fun, exhilarating as well. "Have you come to play on this hill too?" Lex did also wonder why she was in this area and what she was doing or about to do.

She looked from the colt to the hill, then back at the colt. Jumping? She tilted her head slightly. "I...I guess I could try?" she wasn't exactly sure what he had in mind, but it was worth a shot.
Aglaia straighted just a little, almost as if preening, "I'm sure I could do it."
In all actuality, she wasn't, but she wouldn't let this colt outshow her.
"I...I think I've seen that marking before....." she couldn't be sure of it, but it looked familiar at least.

Lex's mouth dropped. It was unattractive to have a gaping mouth for flies to fly in but Lex was stunned. He hadn't expected Aglaia to actually say yes to jumping from the hill! Closing his mouth finally he nodded slowly. A smile began to spread before it turned into a full grin with his white teeth showing.
"Great! I'll show you how!" Lex went over to the hill, beginning to climb it. "Come on Aglaia."
Lex paused halfway up the hill, looking down at where Aglaia was. He should wait for her but he was too excited. "Maybe you met my Dad before!" Lex called down to her. He wondered if she did meet his Dad, unless her and him had met before and Lex was experiencing memory loss? Nah, he'd remember a friend. It had to be his Dad, it just had to. That would definitely be something to question his Dad about later on.

She watched as the colt starting making his way over to the small hill. She took to a trot to catch up with him. Not really sure what was so exciting about this hill, but she'd give it a shot.
"No," she shook her head, "I haven't met him. But, I think I've seen him...I think." she wasn't sure if it was his dad or not, but she was pretty sure she had seen that mark. Shaking it off, she stood next to Lex at the top of the hill. "So what now?" her voice rather dry, "Just jump?"
She tilted her head and looked at the colt. Surely that wasn't all...

The way Aglaia said it caused Lex's insides to squirm. Just jump. Well he did take a running start last time but the time before that he had only jumped and then jumped again. Lex had hoped Aglaia would find this game fun and now he wondered if she actually would. Would she not want to be his friend anymore if she didn't like the jumping game? Oh no! Lex didn't want to make a friend and then lose a friend on the same day. He had to make this more exciting, somehow.
"Well...." He paused, looking around. The red and black colt pouted but turning to Aglaia, he grinned though it was nervous and a little subdued. Lex did not like worrying, it was not fun. He felt he needed to impress Aglaia though. In a way to hope that she would still want to remain friends with him. Lex didn't have many friends. He had his brothers but could he really count them as his friends too?
"I ran down the hill last time till I was about half way down and then I jumped. It was cool." Lex continued, nodding. "Maybe you can try that. Or...." He stopped. Lex had no idea what his or what was yet but he'd think of something, hopefully.

She tilted her head, it didn't sound too fun, but she figured she'd give it a try anyway. "A running start then," she nodded and started to walk to the top of the hill.
"Did you run as fast as you can?" she wasn't sure what speed she was supposed to go. Now that she looked down the hill, she wasn't sure that her legs would stay steady. It had been a while since she ran for anything. She looked down at Lex who was standing still at the bottom of the hill.
She took a deep breath and waited for his instructions.

“I sure did!” Lex nodded twice. He ran as hard and as fast as his little legs could take. And then he leaped into the air and well he landed farther than he had anticipated. It was exhausting but at the same time fun.
“Maybe I’ll show you?” He said it more as an aside to himself though he spoke the words loud, as if in a way asking Aglaia for permission to show her. The colt hurried up the hill till he reached Aglaia. Stepping up beside her Lex then backed up five steps. “Just watch me.” He grinned at her.
He was still worried she may not like this activity but he’d soon find out. “Okay. So we’ll run till we’re halfway down the hill.” Lex nodded. “Then we’ll jump and depending how hard we push off from the ground we might reach the bottom of the hill!” He grinned in excitement and anticipation.
“But if you’re scared….” He paused, looking at Aglaia, “we can go at the same time.”
