Non- pagan friends? Do they know about your lifestyle and do the accept it. Or are you still in the closet with them?

How did you deal with telling them about your choice of path?

All of my friends and most of my family know. Most people in my dad's family don't know, because I REALLY do not feel like getting preached at. I apprciate that trying to save my soul is an expression of love and concern, but I'd go insane if I had to hear about it constenly.

When people ask, I do say I'm a Hellenic Recon, when they ask what that is, I just say I worship the Greek gods. That holds most people over.

With my friends, I'm very out and they're accepting... One's a Christian witch, one's a Wiccan, and the other is a weekly church go-er, or at least those are my dearest friends. I've got other friends who know, but we're on a very much "don't bring up the fighting topics" basis, which means sexual orientation, religion, and probably politics... My mom knows, but kind of yells if I mention I don't like being sent chain mails about the Christian God because I feel that some of the things that people say about him shouldn't be applied to how I view things... I don't think they're wrong, I just don't want to have part in it... So I don't bring it up at home... I work semi-hard to keep my grandmother from knowing because even though she's gone through multiple subsets, she's never stepped outside Christianity as far as I know...

I went through hell, with people knowing. So I don't have really any non-pagan friends due to the fact. That is hard to keep my mouth shut bout things I believe in.

*Laughs* I sort of wish I was louder about my opinions, but with the way most of the people I know are, I'd probably lose a good chunk of them.

I think all my friends know about my path. I usually have to explain to them what it reallys is and not what they were brought up to believe it is. I have it posted on my myspace too. They seem to be okay with it or they just don't say much about it.

I am a non-pagan friend. When it comes to religion, specifically on the discussion of "who's right and who's wrong" we all agree to disagree, by which I mean we just don't go there because we all know it won't end well. So other than the harmless one-liner zings we throw at one another where our beliefs are concerned, we abide by the simple code of just "getting along."

Well, I am marrying a guy who is an agnostic with leanings towards Taoism. And yes, I have non-pagan friends. Only a few know about me. If I did come out of the broom closet, so to speak, considering the area I live in (WV), I would definitely lose my job, probably lose my child, and lose my place to live. So I pretty much keep it under my pointy hat. I can deal with people preaching at me - hey, everyone has their own opinion - but I don't want to lose my kid.

As for work...lemme give you an example: in the pantry there is a dry erase board that has things like "Follow Jesus - turn or burn!"..."Believe in Jesus if you're right you have nothing to gain if you're wrong you have everything to lose" *or something like that*, and other crap like that. My paychecks have the "Jesus Fish" on them. It sucks because there really is no where else for me to work around here. I wear my triple moon necklace, but on a chain long enough to hide under my shirt completely. If my family moved away to another part of the state, I could be completely open, but until then it's hide away and be secretive. It's just so hard when people talk about their religion and how happy they are and I just can't talk.

Yeah, it does, but I do what I gotta do to live and be happy as I can be with my family. I sometimes wish there was a Pagan only closed gate community but if that happened, well one of three things would happen:

1 - people would burn our village down...just like when the make a Robin Hood movie *couldn't help it*

2 - Christians would protest to beat the band (even though around here there are all kinds of Christian oriented things - 3 religious schools *one Catholic, two Protestant*, 4 Christian bookstores *if I remember correctly*, and all kinds of churches *I counted one day, just the ones beside the roads, from Logan to my parents' house - there were 54!!! No Joke. 54 churches*

It's scary sometimes, the area I live in. There are all kinds of junkies that keep their children, but if I were to come out of the BC they would be coming out of the woodwork to take my kid from me.
