We Got Lions! He Shivered as the water slid from his pelt, leaving the swirls and patterns of brilliant color and captured light against a jet blackness. Even in the dead of night as it was, he shimmered and glowed as if he glowed from some inner fire. His short cropped main spiked atop of his head, peeked by the chilled winter stream. It was deeper then the streams of his island, all fed by gentle springs, this one had been closer to a river then he had ever seen, and its waters ruthless and bone chilling. He had yet to find the rest of his herd after the crossing, the wild ocean currents had pulled them apart but he was well enough, his main was short and his tail confined to tightly woven braids so neither hindered him, but this land was unknown, wild with its hard trees with needle like leaves, its soft bushes laden with winter berrys that made his stomach churn, the grass bitter and riddled with thistels, so different from his lush and life giving jungle.

Lovelee cursed the dreaded winter. Her parents had warned her of this. If only she could find that stupid human, and that stupid skinwalker, and Dmitrria, maybe they'd let her stay with them. Although she dreaded the thought, she had to find somewhere warm, or she'd freeze. Somehow through all her wandering, she ended up near the forests that rose along the beaches, which were chillier with the wind coming from the sea. Lovelee dipped her head down and pushed layers of leaves from the ground, to find fresh blades of grass hidden under the ice and snow.

He gave a snort. this land was cold and covered by a blanket of white, and he missed the misty heat of his island, even when the mainland they could see from their shores was blanketed in white it had still been pleasantly warm, never had it been touched by such a harsh gold, and his hooves sank into the snow covered bank. maybe he could get his grounds back at the beach, since if he could see his island he could tell were he was. He slid down the bank, the snow giveing way, the ice crunching as he layed eyes.... on a curly tailed rump right in front of him. He raised an eyebrow and examined the pastel fading colors of the tail, then coughed, not wanting her to assume he was staring at her behind.

Her ears twitched at the sound of a cough. Who in their right mind would be out here in this god awful cold? She finished off the little patch of grass she uncovered, and rose her head and slowly turned around. The almost glittering stallion took her by surprise, his pelt dark, and coated with little speckles of pale turquoise. Lovelee flicked her tail and lifted her hooves from the cold snow to approach him. She did not speak as she approached, just watched his movements and eyes to see what he planned to do. She knew better than to speak to strangers. But attractive strangers were another thing. The wings on his back reminded her of her mother's bird wings, as well as her darling brother's wings. Lovelee stepped close enough to smell him, his scent rising to her nose from the ocean air. "You are not from here." His scent was sweet, and lively. Not musky and piney like most soquili smell like.

Kenya stilled as she came up to him, so bold for a stranger, a stranger who was a lovely little mare the colors of the rising sun, golden morning light cast with rain clouds. She smelt calm and quiet, like a stilled pool of water, untouched by the sun and devoid of any silt, clean and clear and fresh. He shook his head, water falling from his head as he did so " No, that I am not. These shores are unfamiliar to be in all but sight " He said, his voice quiet yet powerful, as if you could hear the rush of wings before the touch of talons. Soft with the potential of power. He examined her, she had no wings, he had never met a creature without wings in either pattern or truth in all his life, haveing grown up on the island as he had. " Is this land always frozen like the world is dieing? " He asked, truly hopeing it was not, soaked as he was it would be the death of him.

Lovelee sniffed again, to be sure her instincts were right. The smell was the same, green and flowery. She felt the sting of cold water on her pelt as he shook his mane, and shivered a little. His dialect was strange, but comfortingly different. Her slate gray eyes traced the light blue speckles down his head to his back, and to the 'eyes' on his legs, which stared back with intensity. The shimmer of his dark coat captivated her, and the eyes on his legs drew her a step closer. But his words woke her from her gazing. "It is not always this cold, the green will return soon." Lovelee grinned softly and shivered. She then suddenly remembered he was wet, and tried to formulate a plan to warm him. "Please follow me?" She asked, her pale eyes meeting his dark jet black eyes.

His ears perked as she looked at him, then he inclined his head slightly " As you wish " It might have been a fools decision but she did not seem at the beginning a threat, so he took a few steps, bringing himself up next to her, the glimmer of his markings catching the moonlight and shimmering with every moment. He was slightly comforted by the thought of springs return, but from the cold it was long away, and he was exhausted and cold, and what this mare has asked of him had been simple so far. A Though suddenly struck him, if she was asking him to follow her, did she need help? One would not normally ask a stranger to follow them unless they needed help, his eyes suddenly seemed to glimmer with an intelligent light, his senses straining as his ears stood to attention, trying to sense any danger to the little mare, despite his own state of affairs.

She looked around and ducked under some brush to enter the patch of forest, hoping that it would be warmer in the protection of the leaves and trees. As she wandered deeper with him following she felt the air become dry, and a hint warmer. He seemed somewhat alarmed with his ears perked and his head held high, she wondered what he was thinking. Certainly not that she was a bad person? But, she thought, it would be wise to be wary of a stranger. Lovelee stopped and looked around, hearing birds chirping. "Are you warmer now? The air was slightly warmer, but not by much. Hopefully the air would grow warmer when the sun rose.

He blinked those dark eyes when he realized she had just wanted to get him out of the harsh winds of the open shore. It was more consideration that he had expected from a stranger, and with the thought it was as if the cold snuck up on him, like it was waiting for him to stop concentrating so much. And yet it was less then it had been, though a shiver still crawled its way up his spine. He nodded, giving her an almost boyish smile, like he wasn't to sure how he was supposed to act around the mare. it made his face look a little less harsh, the swirls on his face glimmering like the trails of happy fireflys. " It is actually, Thank you so much.... " He paused for a moment and then realized that he did not know her name " Lovely little mare, by any chance would there be some sort of place to rest around here, i have been on the move for days and i admit my legs are starting to get the better of me " He said, as if a little embarrassed as to the fact he did not know were a safe place to rest was.

Lovelee watched as he still shivered, and wondered if she could find a better place to keep him warm. If she were out in the cold, and were wet, she would definitely like someone to find her a warm place to hide. The smile made warmth rise to her maw, and she dipped her head to hide her excitement. "If you wish.." She started, unsure how to phrase this. At the current time, they were too far from her parents, and she wasn't sure the exact direction to the teepee. "If you'd like, you can sleep here and I'll watch." She grinned, the idea of watching someone sleep made her feel like Galahad, her foalhood friend who liked to watch his siblings in their slumber to protect them. "Do not worry about me, I'm a night owl."
