Quote: I hereby pledge to come to the aid of those in need and to safeguard nature to the best of my abilities as a Pokemon Ranger, always with pride and courage in my heart. ~Original Pledge of the Pokemon Rangers The sun shone brightly throughout the city of Saffron. Still in the first days of spring it was the first truly warm day of the new year. Downtown the streets were filled with people. Not that it was unusual for Saffron. Saffron was not only the largest city in the Kanto region but also a technological hub as well. The recently reopened Magnet train connected Saffron to Goldenrod of Jhoto and beyond. The Magnet train was packed with commuters including an unexpected large surge of young Pokemon trainers. However the grand reopening wasn't the only event of the day, today was also the day of the Indigo League's Pokemon Examination. Normally a Trainer would need 8 badges from various Gyms scattered across the regions but many Trainers don't have the patience or are otherwise unable to complete such a task. The League Exam allows Trainers to earn a temporary pass by proving their knowledge and abilities. This year the Exam is being held Saffron city at the SilphCo building. Inside countless trainers are gathering while the SilphCo staff works to get everything just right before the test begins. Some are assisting trainers with late registration, others are seen checking identification, and a few are rushing outside to mark battle areas in the park across the street. Everyone was working in High gear. Whether they were staff setting up or Trainers trying to do last minute cramming everyone was focused on their task at hand. However the Exam was not the only thing going on at SilphCo that day. Pokemon Rangers from the Kanto branch were working to recruit new members that day. In the far corner of the room where the crowds were thinner a number of posters we set up advertising the event. At the moment only one Ranger was there. Dressed in the standard male ranger uniform, he was busy hooking up the computer that would allow him to quickly register new Rangers. Flipping the switch the computer slowly powered on. He picked up a name tag from the table and quickly fixed it to his uniform. 'Gaddwick Lenns' took one last look at the computer before turning to the various crowds. Nobody had stopped by yet and though it was still early he felt uneasy. It seemed so chaotic here that it would be difficult to find anyone. He picked up one of the signs and hoisted it above his head hoping it could be seen above the crowd.

Miomoko and Kian were walking through the crowded, even more crowded than usual, streets of Saffron towards Silph Co. She opened the doors to the large building to find even more people, such a large ammount that she was worried about feeling a little claustrophobic. She pushed her way through the people while saying excuse me multiple times, she looked up to see a Pokemon Rangers sign on the other side of the crowd, she decided to head over their, it looked slightly less crowded, and she'd probably see Gadd there. Miomoko looked back down to notice Kian attempting to dodge all the people's feet. "Come on Kian, just a little farther." It was good dodgeing practice for him anyways.
After 30 more seconds of pushing and dodgeing their ways through the crowd, they made it out. Kian jumped out, and Miomoko pretty much was pushed out. "Ugh, finally." She looked back to see that the crowds weren't as big as she thought, but they were enough to bother her. She wondered what it would be like later on in an hour or so. She shivered at the thought. Miomoko looked back over to the Rangers sign, and saw Gadd there setting things up, she decided she would go over and offer some help.
"Hey Gadd, need any help?" She asked him, even though it already looked like he had pretty much everything set up and ready.
Kian nudged at Miomoko's leg untill she picked him up to place him on her shoulders.

"Ahhh." He check around himself to make sure there wasn't anything he was forgetting. "Not at the moment. How about you? Feeling confident about the Exam? Its not going to be easy. I hear that for the practical portion you'll be evaluated by some tough judges. Lt. Surge passed though here earlier while I was setting up. I've even heard rumors that even Professor Oak will be showing up as well. I hope you feel ready."

Miomoko smiled, "I never doubt myself, I prefer staying postitive. So I think I'll do pretty good." She thought about it for a second, "Professor Oak? Really? This may very well be an extremely interesting exam then." She said, enjoying the thought of having tough judges. Whether she passed or not, she would still receive enough constructive critism, and learn what she needed to work on.

Gadd looked away for a moment. To tell the truth he was feeling nervous about the exam. He knew he would do well on the test bit but he always felt so slow to adapt to new circumstances. "That's a good attitude to have. Hopefully the whole group does well so we can all participate in the championship."

Miomoko noticed a little something in Gadd's eye, he was pretty much the best of the group. Then again, it was like that in everything, the people that were the best were the people that were always nervous and practiced alot. It was always the reason they were the best, "That would be awesome. I think everyone will do pretty well." She paused, "Good luck on the exam hey?"

Gaddwick smilled, a little weakly but still felt a little more confident. "You too. I have a feeling that Jack needs the luck more. It wouldn't surprise me to find that he didn't study." he added jokingly.
((OoC: For any newbies to the guild this is how I post out of character comments. Usually surrounded by double parenthisis, small font, and grayed. Feel free to butt in at any time. We're not discussing anything important and Gaddwick looks forward to any new members.))

Miomoko laughed a little, "Very true. I haven't seen him today." Miomoko said looking into the crowds, "Even if he is here though, I don't think I'd be able to pick him out."

Jack snuck up on Gaddwick, "Eh...I did so study...maybe." He muttered. He than smiled brightly. "So how have you guys been?" He asked. Lucario stood diligently at Jack's side. He looked worried and his head was looking at the ground.

The sun beamed down on Arashi Bogart as she looked over the town. Her boots scuffed the sidewalk, she was finally off the grass of the routes. There were so many people! It was nothing like where she came from. A town so small it was on the outskirts of Pallet. Her bright big purple eyes darted left and right quite fast. She had never seen so many people, okay well once. She went with her father on a business trip to Sinnoh and there were a LOT of people at Eterna City. Arashi looked down at Eevee, her one and only friend, she nodded and Eevee lept into her arms and onto her shoulder with a satisfied "weet" "Holy Cow! There's a lot of people here." Arashi cried as she began to walk down the street, "I can't even see over the crowd! Why do I have to be so short? Eevee do you see anything?" Eevee jumped onto her head almost matching Arashi's light brown hair. Eevee would've blended find if it weren't for the white patches, as well as two small white dots on Eevee's face. Eevee gave a negatory squee. "Are you serious?" Arashi called. She stomped her foot as she walked, "Even with a foot extra boost you still can't see?!" Arashi tripped onto her knees on the sidewalk. Eevee ran ahead through the people's feet. "Eevee? ... Wait, that's it!" Arashi crouch down and began to push through the crowd as fast as she could. They didn't even pay her attention as she shoved her way through. She grabbed Eevee in her hands as she got out, "Good job, Girlie!" she called. "Weet wee" Eevee gave Arashi a kiss on her tanned cheek. Arashi giggled but then something caught her eye. A sign? Pokemon Rangers... "Wow! Eevee look at that! It says Pokemon Rangers! That sounds so cool...like, like, like...like Pokemon Trainers that are Ninja's kind of cool!" A sweat drop appeared on Eevee's head. "Let's go!" Arashi ran over to the small group of people energetically. She waved to the people knowing they'd have to look way down. She closed her eyes so she wouldn't have to watch their attention divert downwards.

((OoC: Looks great so far. I personally wouldn't of used a sweat drop there but each person has their own style I guess. And just so we're clear we're indoors.))
"Hold on, just a moment, Jack." he said temporally dismissing him.
Gaddwick turned to look at the new applicant. He wasn't expecting such a young applicant, not at the exam anyway but he wasn't one to be picky and warmly greeted her. "Hello there, are you two here to become a Pokemon rangers? You'll be our first applicants today. You can have a seat over here." He ushered her over to a slightly worn folding chair by the desk before going round to the other side and sitting himself down.
He punched a few keys on the keyboard and sighed. "Sorry, I've never done this before. I hope things go smoothly for the both of us. How about we start with your name, age, and any questions you might have about the Pokemon Rangers. I'd be happy to clear anything up for you."

Miomoko laughed as Jack had heard Gadd's comment. Gaddwick at his first applicant of the day, so Miomoko decided to turn her attention to Jack, "Hey, how's it going you guys?"

Arashi blushed she was slightly nervous. They probably thought she was so much younger than she was though they did look considerably older. As she sat with Eevee on her shoulder she almost didn't know what to say or do. What was she getting into exactly? She wasn't sure but it sounded great and the people around all had Pokemon and they seemed happy so... "Hi. I'm Arashi Bogart and I'm 11 and a half years old. This is Eevee. She's...well I don't know how old she is..." talking was becoming considerably easier. She smiled as she went on, "Oh and I was wondering what exactly is the Pokemon Rangers goal? And if it's to help Pokemon then I am so in...I mean...if it's all right with you." Arashi moved her hands as she talked.

"And I thought Sunyshore was a big city," Alice commented as she and Skitty navigated through the crowd. "But wow. This is something else." She thought she heard Skitty give an agreeing meow, but it was a bit hard to hear over the conversations of numerous people. Right now she was concentrating on trying to find the rest of the Rangers. The place was packed, but she hadn't seen any of them yet.
After several minutes of searching, Skitty eventually caught sight of the other Rangers, and Alice was able to see some familiar faces not long after. There was less of a crowd there, and she was able to get there without too much difficulty.
"Hello, everyone," she said as she walked up to Jack and Miomoko.

Gaddwick keyed in the data from behind the desk. "Okay. Arashi Bogart, 11." He thought for a moment when she asked about the rangers. "Its hard to describe the group as a whole. I try to lay it out as best I can."
=====
"At the core Pokemon Rangers protect the balance between humans and Pokemon and work to prevent conflict between them.
We do a variety of jobs. Some are small like cleaning up parks and getting helping owners find lost Pokemon. Some are a little bigger helping rebuild after a storm and making sure the roads are safe. We're also called to help handle the occasional emergency such as handling an aggressive Pokemon that accidentally wandered into town. Usually we get calls either from the Pokemon center or the scattered Police stations but we also occasionaly patrol the surrounding area to make sure that the wild Pokemon don't have any problems they can't handle.
Very rarely we'll find that Illegal Pokemon activities are going on? Have you heard about Team Rocket who took over the Radio tower a few years back? It's like that. Sometime the police are slow to react and the Rangers step in. These missions will be completely optional though so don't feel like you have to always go with us. They can be quite dangerous.
A bit more about about our branch specifically. We're stationed at Indigo Village, you might know it as Pokemon League Village. We are the Kanto Branch representatives. That makes us bigger than a local group but not as large as the Worldwide HeadQuarters in Vermilion to the South. We're one of the stronger groups of rangers but we're always working to improve. We have a secretary Luci but she isn't here now. She's busy working to arrange transport to get us all back after the test. Due to our location we sometimes get called in for a task that we usually wouldn't handle but it usually works out in the end."
=====
He paused for a moment. "I think that about sums it up. I'm sorry if that's more than you wanted. Once I start talking I tend to go on longer than I should but I hope it answers your question. Anything else you'd like clarified?"
