It makes me depressed. :U
I know religion is a hot subject but the way the atheists act on there just makes me feel a little dead inside.
Why do I post in there?

Anyone else get this feeling when they go in there?
Just don't want to feel like the only one. neutral

I stopped going there when I realised it was basically the same threads over and over.

Basically Christians vs. Atheists on topics like evolution and abortion and homosexuality. Yawn.

I've come to the conclusion most atheists are a bunch of hypocrites.
I've backed them in the corner with some Jewish theology and they can't think of any answer except, "Well you'd be right if G-d existed."
I've had some tell me every intellectual in the past century were atheists and I flash the Einstein card; he believed in a supreme intelligent being and he was brilliant to say the least.

And Karl Marx was born to a Jewish family.

Sir Isaac Newton wasn't exactly an atheist, either.

I believe Newton was Hermetic- an occult/religious philosophy from Egypt.

He was raised Christian. Then he had a mid-life crisis.

He was an odd one. For a while in his 50s he was an alchemist, trying to harness the light of the sun to change metals like lead into gold.

Theoretically, it was sound. But you'd need to be just a few thousand miles from the sun, or better yet, near the Earth's core, to have the heat and power to change elements.

It is possible, but you can only change gold into lead, not the other way round.

I like Chemistry. twisted

It's been said that atheists are just people without an invisible means of support.

The whole point of being an atheist is basically not to have any kind of moral compass or traditional ethics that you choose to follow. Basically whatever religion you were born into, you disagree with and you choose not to find another so your religion becomes "None of The Above." Your moral compass is what you make of it and ethics are solitary.

The trouble starts when atheists believe that other religious people are delusional and dangerous to society because their delusions can be afflicted on others.

So they come online to vent their outrage online. The traditional war on Xmas, the Pledge of Allegiance controversy, the Chrismachanukwanza thing.

They usually just post spiteful nonsense in which they think that religious types will actively try to save their souls and force their moral agenda on them. Or that one religion has a hidden and more sinister objective running the whole operation and their moral ethics is simply for show, because they need to make examples of those who do not obey.

When it comes to my own religion, I've had my difference of opinions with it, who hasn't? It's changed my outlook on it, but I'm still a member.

When it comes to other religions, there are some I find ethical, some unethical, some are just plain silly, others are wrong and one or two I actually have a fear and loathing of.

However I don't tend to beat people over the heads with my opinions when it comes to religion.

Atheism is... difficult. My best friend for well over 10 years, the majority of my life, in fact, is atheist. And he can't quite see why people believe that G-d exists. So if he can't, with a religious best friend, I don't know who can.

I heard a great tale once: "An atheist decideds religions are delusional, and offers to convert to any that proves him otherwise, and donate $10, 000,000. Imams, monks, vicars, priests, missionaries, rabbis... a representative of every religion on Earth, goes to meet this Atheist, and convert him. None succeed. He counters each and every one of their arguements. Then an old man walks in, with a branch of grapes, and says: "These grapes are gorgeous."
The Atheist says: "And?"
The old man says: "Don't you think they're great?"
The Atheist says: "How am I supposed to know that? I haven't tried them."
And the old man says: "Exactly", and walks out. That old man is a wealthy man."

Ever heard of Richard Dawkins? Lets discuss.

Mostly I just haunt around there, and that more rarely than ever.

I don't honestly care if people are atheist or religious, I just kinda wish they'd chill about it.

I think everyone has gotten annoyed with M&R. It really is the same thing over and over and you when you finally get a new question in there, and everyone thinks you asked something different and it isn't controversial anyway, so it's no fun for the regulars and the thread dies. *is sad*
