The Library at Grove Academy is filled with thousands of books on a variety of subjects. Students can find almost anything they want here, anything they can't find can be obtained through their inter-library loan system. Keystone students will find books from the other-realms and guides on living alongside humans quietly and successfully. There are several long main rows, one along each wall and a wide open space for the Library Circulation Center in the very middle. Along the main rows there are shelves of books separated by isolated study areas. While the Library is mostly quiet, students are still allowed to hold hushed conversations.

Sebastian walked in out of the fresh air only to find that the smell of the old, yellowed books was something just as powerful as the Earth. He took a moment to breathe in the silence of the place before heading right to the appropriate section and pulling down a book of Ancient Greek.
Many of the medical terms he had learned to use with humans had come directly from the Greek and Latin phrases of the ancient world, and so he deemed it necessary to the continuance of his practice to learn the languages as best he could.
In a secluded corner near a window that faced out over the sprawling green lawn, he chose a table and plunked his notebook and Greek dictionary down.

Evangeline glided silently and elegantly down the main walkway, with a step that bespoke years of combat and a readiness for anything that couldn't be trained, just experienced. She came to a gradual stop near the language sections, and turned down another way to a new bookcase, taller than if Gabe stood on her shoulders.
Something she wouldn't be letting him do anytime soon. She'd learned her lessons.
" Hmm..." That sound came out as a dull murmur as she brushed soft fingers over the spine of a book that had writing in golden runes down the spine. It was old and leather bound, and so carefully enspelled, that humans couldn't see it, or anything other books not ment for their eyes.
She drew it from the shelf carefully, and opened the thick tome, quickly glancing over the material. It was a sort of reference book, on something that interested her. During her years in the military, the recruits were taught basic knowledge about the beings of the lower plane; their weaknesses and how to kill them.
Since her Fall, she had taken it upon herself to learn more about those beings, more commenly known as Demons, so as to better understand her foes. Perhaps it was a far cry from what she could have learned had her sister not died and had she not gone a murderous rampage, but it was enough for now.
With tome in strong hand, she glided to a nearby desk, her back to the language section, and began to study.

Sebastian was able to see Evy in between the books and immediately felt regret for not returning to see her and Gabe in the Gateway house. No doubt Gabe's duties meant that the visit would have been short, but the whole 'tried healing someone but it didn't work' thing was getting to him. He had just wanted some time to reflect on the incident.
He stood, Greek in hand, and moved over a few tables to where she was sitting. He plunked the book down with a soft thud, careful not to startle her. However, he admitted it would be a difficult thing to sneak up on her because of her training.
"My apologies for not returning after I was summoned by the headmaster. I hope Gabe wasn't too offended."

Evy had heard him just as her had shifted in his chair, felt a moment of panic that always seemed to come around, but then she calmed, reasoning with herself it wasn't a person that would attack her. So many battles had worn away at her, leaving raw nerves behind.
But when she saw it was Bastian, however.. Her whole face seemed to light up, and she put on a smile that seemed reserved only for him. " Hey, it's no problem. He was fine, and I just spent my time flying about, before I decided to come here." She shrugged self consciously, casting a look at the book in his hands. " So, where did you set off to while you were gone?" She asked in a low voice, as whispers carry more audibly than one might think. She only used them when she wanted someone to hear her- the verbal equvalent of a knowing smile.

He shrugged. "Around the campus. I was greeted by several new students, one of which appears to be a faerie and another...I can't seem to read her very well. I can't feel her presence as a human or as one of us. She's a Seer, of that I'm sure, I'm just not sure where she originates from."
He flipped open his Greek to a particular piece he'd had in mind, but didn't train his eyes on the pages. "I wanted to do a little...feeling around the place. Things seem to be unbalancing more quickly than before." It was vexing because the headmaster had said nothing to them. They were the front-line of defense, but there was no way for them to do their job if they knew nothing of the events happening around the school

She frowned and nodded. " I nearly crashed twice from some of the fluxuations while I was flying earlier. Haven't done that since I was little.." She turned the page absentmindedly, eyes flickering up to him every so often. " Perhaps Kaien has a good reason for not saying anything, or perhaps he's making a plan for us as we speak." She shrugged. " Whatever it is, I'll end up helping anyway." She propped her head up in a hand and set her eyes on the page.

"Perhaps" He said quietly. "However we can not fail to take into account that perhaps Kaien does not want our assistance. I wonder if inviting so many of those from the other realms assist him would only help to attract more dangerous things to the gateway." That was a fear that had plagued him since coming to this side. It was well known how much skill he held in the other realms. It was said he could keep a person from dying if he was brought to them quickly enough. Of course, the rumors were unfounded, but they did speak to his high level of medicinal training.
He flipped open the book to a different page. "I confess myself uncomfortable with the idea of becoming a student again. Though I love having the opportunity to get better, I do think that we're a little...above this?" He questioned her with his eyes, wondering if she felt the same way he did or if she was simply comfortable with the peace and relative security the place offered. Surely someone who had seen as much battle as she had would desire the relief that peace brings.

Evangeline nodded in agreement. " I certainly do not relish becoming a student yet again. I'd rather be out there.." She made a vague gesture to the outside, meaning a battlefield. " Fighting is the only thing I'm good at." She smiled sadly for a moment.
" That may be true, but it's better than having no forces at all, and the beings coming through anyway. Then this place would be relatively undefended, and it would fall into chaos. Besides, ourselves, along with others Kaien has invited, should be able to handle it just fine. We are equal to the task." She spoke with a sort of calming reassurance that had secured her place as a general, discounting her skills in fighting and cool head in battle. She gave him a slight smile before turning the page.

He chuckled a bit, lowering his head to the page. "Not everything is a battle. While it may be your talent, I'm certain that you'll have other ones that are less disagreeable." It really was something he had been meaning to do with her...help her through the adjustment from the war. He had been in this realm for some time, his nature as a Grigori explained why. He had this unfailing weakness for humans. Such an unfortunate downfall, he mused, but one that could not be helped.
"Besides, I suppose that despite us not being....out there..." he used the same vague gesture as she did. "the war will go on without us, presumably for eternity because for all I've heard proclamations about who is winning and who is losing, I've never seen anything of real evidence."

She shook her head in a mullish way. " It's different for someone out on the field, rather than one off. It may not seem the war is getting anywhere, and is at a stalemate, but the fighting continues, as you said. More and more beings loose their lives each minute. If there is anything I can do to help stop it, or atleast bring it to a more peaceful state, I will. Even if my life is forfeit."
She didn't look at him as she said this, her eyes trained to the page. They were not empty words, and were ones she committed herself to, ever since her own Fall.

He knew it was a fail safe belief for her, but he didn't challenge it. Besides, who was to say that his own was unfounded? Apathy did nothing for anyone and his certainly had no benefits besides his physical presence. Remaining completely and utterly neutral had done little god for him, and though he would have done anything to regain his former glory, he knew that it was lost forever and the taint of those oil black wings would forever be on his body.
"Regardless, our duty now is clear, and we have no further business on that battlefield unless it threatens the Gate. As of now, I don't believe that is what the problem is."

She frowned. " But who can say that it will not? With so many fluxuations going on lately, it is a possibility." She shook her head. " But I understand. You are quite right." She sent him a wan smile, before shutting her book with a snap and going to pick up another one.

----
Sam was sitting in a corner of the library uninhabited by other wandering students. He sat in a window seat, with all light clouded by the rain outside. It didn't matter, though, as he'd dragged over a small table along with a desk lamp to light the material he was supposed to be reading.
Supposed to be, not that he actually was. Instead, he sat in lotus position, book open in the little space his folded legs created, with eyes closed. If he sat in this way, with the silence around him, he could envision using imagination what he was supposed to be learning. Wuthering Heights, he'd discovered, was a very interesting place if you simply opened your mind and took a romp around the moors. In a few minutes, he'd continue his reading, but then, Sam was very content imagining just what this story was about instead.
