Slythor was the name of the spawn to be his new student. A Pride and Patience combination, Rachel'd been told. With neither dominant. That could actually be good. In both his personal experience, and in a lot of cases, Pride was a horrible thing to have too much of. However, a bit, was perfectly reasonable and could be necessary. He hoped to exercise that just a tad today, but that wasn't his main goal.
From what the young man had been told, Slythor had a pet that he tended to bring with him to classes. A bird of some sort or another. He was used to having to train people with severely magical pets (dragons in particular) but this might work a bit. A class to improve the skills of the bird, and by that token, Slythor's pride in himself and his pet.
The setup for the classroom was the same simple white room, save for a large black piece of paper that was taped over a section of the wall. He didn't want the painted section damaged should things get screwed up in this class. There were a couple of comfortable-ish large beanbag chairs on the floor (cheaper to get a hold of, and more economical than good comfy chairs) and a few small objects of different weights on one end of the room, but he wasn't sure if they would be using those yet.
He would just have to see how things played out when Slythor arrived. Which was due to be any time around then.

Slythor arrived for another skills without his father. He was a big boy now, and could do this class by himself. Accompanying him was a large blue bird that sat on one shoulder, peeking curiously around the room. The bird was the first one to spot the teacher and chirped to grab the kid's attention. Slythor noticed the man afterwards, thanks to his bird.
"Hello! I.. I think I'm you're srudent. I'm Slythor, here for a skills meet??" He asked curiously. Maybe he was wrong, then he would have to go exploring.

"You're in the right place then. Please close the door behind you, if you could. People wandering by unnerves me." Rachel explained.
"Please, take a seat." he said, indicating the other beanbag chair in front of him. "Would you care to tell me about yourself and your bird?"
May as well get a bit of information on the two, since the place didn't exactly have records that gave him what he wanted to know.

Slythor sat as he was told, his bird flapping its wings a little to keep it steady, after closing the door as instructed. "Well, there's not much to say. I think I'm pretty normal. My bird is a pretty normal bird.He doesn't have a name yet, but I'll make one up when I gotta." He replied with a shrug. The bird chirped seeming to think similarly.
"Whaat're you gonna teach me?"

"Well it's more what you're going to be teaching your friend there. You seem to be the only kid around who brings a pet with them, so I figured we might try to do something with that. Either trying to teach him to talk, or training him. What do you two think?"
Usually the man wasn't one to ask a student about their opinions on what to do with this class, but this seemed more optional than the usual things. As far as he knew, the bird wasn't part of the corporation's business, so they may not care as much about it being taught things.

Slythor grinned. "Let's do both!" He clapped his hands in joy of the thought. That was a lovely thought. His bird knew a few words and a few tricks, but to be taught more extensive things was a lovely thought. Imagine it! They could sit and chat about movies and share nuts together. He could make it do tricks like fly in circles and count numbers like that parrot on TV but only better.

"Which shall we start with?" Rachel asked, trying to remember the ways he'd previously had to teach those types of skills. Teaching them to do tricks, as he remembered, was a bit easier than teaching them to talk, but the second was more useful.

Slythor thought for a moment. "Let's get him to talk first!" He grinned and looked at the bird. He wondered how to get it to talk. It's never spoken a word before. However it was very smart. He was sure the bird could get to it very quickly. He grinned and hugged it quietly. He smiled at the thought of having whole conversations.

"I believe you may want to start with trying to get him to repeat after you, at least in bits. It's been a while since I've had a class involving this sort of thing, so I'm a little rusty on what methods work." Rachel explained.
He was almost positive that a lot of this would be on the bird's part. But it had been so long - and dragons and fairy pets weren't exactly the same as regular birds. Damn, where was Whisper when he needed her? She was always good at such things.

Slythor glanced at his bird. "Say something." He murmured, poking it a bit. The bird squawked and flapped its wings. "Something!" It screeched. He grinned and hugged his partner. "Right!" He grinned and pat his bird contentedly.
The bird ruffled up its feathers, looking proud of itself."Right! " It affectionately nibbled on the other's horn, before letting out a happy cry into the air. "Right right!"

Rachel nodded a bit. "Well, we know it has the vocal capabilities. That's a plus. Now trying to get it to say it's own words rather than echo yours." he intoned with a soft nod.
This was surprisingly going better than he'd imagined. It seemed birds were easier to train than dragons - or at least, this one was. Though, the ones where he came from could have just been ornery and obstinate since they weren't fond of their owners.

Slythor thought for a moment, before patting his bird again. "What's your name?" He asked quietly to his bird. The bird looked puzzled, then asked. "Name?" The male nodded back.
"Yeah."
The bird stared at the other curiously, not understanding. He let out a few confused chips.

The bird chirped a few more times, before stopping, looking like it was thinking hard. It shifted around a bit, before finally chirping out contently, looking likt it had found the appropriate name. "Blue!" It chirped happily. "Blue! Blue!"
Slythor blinked in surprise. Blue? Why blue? Ah well, he was not one to question hsi friend. He pat his bird happily. "Well Blue, that's a lovely name."

Rachel, on the other hand, didn't question the bird's choice at all. He wasn't against creativity, but he damn was it a lot less confusing and a bit more practical than some names he'd heard creatures say they were called. Blue made a lot more sense than Archibald Rufus Otonio The Seventeenth - particularly when that one was an only child and it's parent's names had been Gwen and Chad.
"All right, where to from there? Shall we keep trying to get Blue to speak or shall we see about maybe training for something like retrieving items?" he asked calmly.
