Arrival in Gaia
Things couldn't have been going better for Rouka. After months of begging and whining, influencing family friends and practicing as hard as he could, he had finally convinced his parents that the beautiful arts might indeed be as worthy a path as the scholarly arts, at least for their eldest son. They had decided that he would travel to Toukoku, to stay with friends in the Capital City and study dance from the masters there, perhaps to enter the Imperial Palace when he came of age, while Rouren, Renka, and Ren'i traveled from cold Houkoku to the much milder Rinkoku, to see if the warm weather improved little Ren'i's health.
Though afraid of setting off on this path relatively alone, surrounded by strangers and tough teachers, Rouka was also tremendously excited. Those strangers would soon become new friends, and his masters would teach him to be a superb dancer. And what could be more splendid than a chance to perform before the Empress? Though it would mean saying goodbye to his beloved little brother, Rouka hoped that the stay in Rinkoku would somehow cure his brother's illness... and then, perhaps, the two could perform in the Palace together.
But it doesn't seem Ren'i thought of it this way. While Rouka was practicing behind the house, his brother suddenly appeared, screaming at him in a confused jumble of sad and jealous emotions. Rouka tried to soothe him, but his little brother didn't seem to understand, and then he did something neither of the boys would have ever expected -- he jumped at Rouka and bit his hand, and the two boys rolled down the hill screaming and scratching at each other.
The squabble only lasted a few seconds, though; almost immediately, someone was upon them, pulling them apart. Emitting a feeling of regret and horror, Ren'i turned and fled; Rouka tried to follow, but a pair of enormous hands restrained him.
Looking up at his captor, Rouka was shocked to find her not a Porcelain, but some sort of bizarre-looking humanoid, with an enormous nose and strange, twisted appendages on the sides of her head -- a Gaian.

 Gaian "Family" LinkRouren - He loves his mother very much, though they've been through rocky times with her disapproving of his boisterousness. They still occasionally clash over some discipline issues, but things have become much better. Renka - They have a warm relationship, though they are not very close. His father is even more serious than his mother, and so they have little to talk about. Ren'i - A sickly boy who has become rather intellectual from being shut in all the time. Alternates between being extremely fond and protective of him and jealous of the enormous attention he receives from their parents. It seems to Rouka that because Ren'i is fulfilling their parents' dream, they love Ren'i more than they love Rouka, and let him get away with anything.
