So aside from being agile, strong, dark and seductive...what do you think of vampires? Or rather what other abilities do you think vampires should possess?
PostPosted: Tue Nov 11, 2008 4:51 am

The ability to be scarey again. Over the years vampires have stoped being portrayed as scarey and just mean, emo or bastards. I kind of miss the souless killers of yester year than the touchy feely ones we have now.

I agree...the domesticated vampire is waaaay too soft. Honestly if you read up on the man Dracula was (forgive me) "based" off of...vampires now have nothing on Vlad Dracul. That man put women and children on wooden pikes and had them as yard ornaments for christ's sake!!

*sighs* Although i do admit...on 30 Days Of Night they portrayed vampires exquisitely! No emotion...just kill kill kill....and was wonderful!! ^__^

I better stop now...i'm getting all morbid in thought again and i do not want to expose the true Nadea.....

Psychopathic.....Grotesque......Gorey......Nadea.......*sighs happily* I'm going to go watch a bloody movie now....done went and got myself in a morbid mood again!!!

Thats 7 times this week....

I like a mixture of both. I want *some* emotion but not too much, but lots of blood and gore xd

I couldn't agree more, vampires need to be scary, and crazy bloodthirsty on a mission to kill everything in their path. 30 days of night like you said up there was a great representation, I love that movie, and I pulled for the vampires the whole time, hoping they would kill everyone in that town.

I'm so sick of the ones that fall in love with a human, or think killing is bad, vampires aren't supposed to care about that kind of stuff, what's with all the empathy?!

I can't help it. I love the romanticism in the idea of a vampire. What's not to love and who say's they wouldn't take advantage of that adoration? Of course I don't really like the mushy type of vampires in love with anything with a beating heart, other than just for food. I miss the blood and gore. But i like my blood drinking monster's at least a little bit loveable. Like Lestat. He was kick a** and merciless but he could love he wanted to. In my opinion, it should all balance out really. I love Anne Rice xD

That's what I was getting at, I hate when they love a human... that's like my dog not wanting to eat his Kibbles and Bits because he loves it. It just doesn't make sense... but Lestat is my favorite vampire, he was ruthless, viewed humans as food, and only wanted companionship from his own kind.

Although it's good that the undomesticated vampire lives up to the term of vampires being "hollow" I also have to say that it should be a mixture of both. Maybe a battle of two sides; the emotionally driven part and the wild, fearsome and unstoppable fiend vampires have been known to be. I think of it this way since in my opinion it is rather dry to think about a vampire who entrusts everything to his instincts killing mercilessly and feeding on everything that has blood flowing through their veins; I mean what's the point? Is that everything there is to eternal damnation? And this is where I believe the emotionally driven part steps in. To add a little bit of spice in the otherwise dark and dreary life proposed by vampires. You might disagree with me but this is my opinion.

I do see your point but until someone dose a good job of it I will stick with my idea of the souless vampire. They need to portray the conflict right and not like little whiney gits that have no balls. In my opinion when you are battling against a side of yourself that just wants to kill everything, you do not have time to complain or worry about other people. That is assuming anything from thier human side survives after all they do die. I beleive the eternal damnation comes from the fact that they are forced to live for an eternity as a simple shadow of thier former selves, with a constant urge to kill.
Lestat I don't mind so much.... if I remember him right but Anne Rice is part of the reason vamps have become they way they are. Before you know it we will be looking at them as soft and cuddly gauriands rather than the thing of our nightmares. Were did it all go wrong.

Feel free to argue your point. I am in no way trying to force my opinions on anyone.

I think Vampires are just like humans, They care and Love and show emotions! They fight for what is theirs and they fight for what they believe is right. As for powers how do we really know what they possess? I guess the power I would want them to have would be to choose when they can go into the sun...I'm sure alot of them miss seeing the Blue Ocean or the sun rise. Anyway thats how I feel about them. Cheers Everyone!!

i dont disagree that the overly emotional vampires are a bit cheesy and annoying... but vampires are former humans, they should carry some human traits, besides their form and intelligence. to me they would have scarce emotional response and a healthy thirst for blood which comes with the animalistic ferosity and brutality 3nodding

naw they can't pass through walls lol that's what ghosts do

vampires can:

ya they DO move to another place from one place to another
they can read minds surprised
they can live forever
they can GLEEEAAAAMMMM eek

anyway I honestly think vampires are unique in a way because they are perfectly normal (if you ignore the fangs, lol... and the pale skin). I hate the people who are like "OMG I LOOOOVE DARK ELVES/HUMANS/ZOMBIES"
we vamps pwn all of the other races surprised

You cannot really just say what they can and cannot do. Many people have added thier own spin onto vampires and thier abilities over the years. The op was wondering what abilities you think would be fitting for a vampire or would like to see a vampire have.
I personaly have my own kind of vampire that I like the idea of that is quite far out of the way of the standard but I think it is cool. There is nothing wrong with taking your own spin on the idea since everyone else dose anyway.

ah, your truly right so anyone can add something to a vampire like if they can turn invisible or something so I can't really argue with that... your win lol...
