The sun had just risen not too long ago, giving an ethereal glow to the mist still clinging to the cliffs around Crater Lake, when Reynardine departed from the cavern he'd claimed as his own. A slender dark line cutting through the gold-tinged wisps, he pulled away from the cave in the cliffside overlooking Crater Lake, and flew a few lazy spirals and barrel-rolls just for the pleasure of seeing the aftereffects his passing left in the fading fog. Another fine day... This bodes well. His ever-present grin, if possible, grew wider as he paused in midair, coiling in on himself.
This area, the lake and the mountains, seemed to be where most of his kind congregated. Reynardine, restless and bored, ached for company -- hence his trek to to the previously unclaimed cavern. Perhaps today, if he looked, he would find someone who could direct him to the nearest temple.

Ryleni had been following another butterfly it was only after many miles that she even noticed she had wandered. But it was normal she never stayed in one place to long. She yawned glancing around till she noticed a lake and coiled over to the edge barely moving her wings in the process and making no noise. She quietly lapped the water when her ears pricked to the soft noise of another pan-lun. Glancing around she quickly spotted it tho her dark colored body was hidden by the shadows. She didn't wanna be and quickly rose only a small portion from the ground before giving a welcoming call.

The lake seemed undisturbed by anyone -- Reynardine was about to give up and take off for a new location when a faint sound caught his ears. He perked up -- a welcoming call! And, from the sound of the voice -- could it be another P'an-lun, a female? He didn't dare to hope, but it sounded as though it could be. He twisted his lithe body towards the sound and soared towards it, summoning a small shred of wind to help speed him along.
Stopping at the water's edge nearest to where he guessed the sound had come from, he didn't immediately spot anyone. He landed lightly, the beads looped around his neck and paws jingling softly against each other. "Hello?" he called out. "Is someone here?"

Ryleni paused she hadn't figured on her body still matching her surroundings and blinked before moving fully into the open. She studied the male for several moments before giving a nod. "yes your not hearing things." she snickered then twisted her body a bit before watching his tail.
"you have a bushy tail." She was a bit startled when in fact what she seen was his tail waving back and forth.

Ah -- so his ears weren't deceiving him! It was a lady P'an-lun who had called... and what a remarkable one, at that! Those wings, those markings... He was tempted almost to move closer, but stopped himself; she hadn't revealed herself immediately, after all, indicating a certain hesitance on her part. A gentleman wouldn't make the lady uncomfortable by being too forward...
So at her comment, he simply laughed and sat down, coiling slightly so that his tail curled around his front paws. "Why yes, I do! And you, miss, have the most magnificent wings I have ever seen." The flattery came easily to him -- perhaps the compliment would help put her at ease. Mingled pleasure and interest sparked in his slitted eyes as he leaned slightly forward, though he resisted the urge and stayed in place. "My name is Reynardine. May I ask yours?"

She fluttered her wings to over come the blush that hit her. That was the first time someone had actually like them most seen them as a growth. Those she had met in the cave weren't really to nice but kazien was never nice. But it was always the reason that she never stayed, she didn't need a rude reminder that she was different.
She smiled at least he was nice right off she had been a bit worried, "Im Ryleni, it is nice to meet you Reynardine." She landed sliding just a bit closer as she curled more around her self still ready to spring if the need be.
"i was out enjoying the weather when i spotted a very pretty butterfly so decided to follow it." She looked around the area and then back calmly, "but im unsure where i ended up."

"A pleasure to meet you, as well," he replied. Ah... good. She seemed to be warming up to him, at least somewhat. Then again, he'd yet to meet a lady who rebuffed him entirely... Most, if not all, could be won with a sweet tongue and some patience. He discreetly fluffed his tail a bit to show it to best advantage -- he was a vain creature, and she had noticed it first. Perhaps the shared quality of an unusual trait -- his tail, her wings -- was a common ground to start from.
At her remark, Reynardine ducked his head a bit ruefully. "I would normally offer to show you around, Miss Ryleni, but I am afraid I only just arrived here the other night... So I'm not much better off than you are. I was rather hoping to find someone who could direct me to a temple, but --" his tone brightened considerably "-- to my good fortune, I seem to have found company instead." He inclined his head to indicate the water behind him. "As far as I know, the locals call this Crater Lake."

She stared at him his tail was a bit hard to ignore and she noticed as he fluffed it some as if he knew where her mind was. Quickly she brought her eyes back up to his. "yes I'm sorry i have no clue where the temple would be, Is it some where near the lake?" she glanced around it was rather pretty besides the area of shadows were she was well hidden.
He was starting to get a wee bit well she didn't wanna really think where he was going she shrugged, "I wouldn't mind trying to find this temple you were looking for. Whats suppose to be there that you like so much?" She glanced around again, "and i seem to be alone as far as my insect friend its gone."

Reynardine shrugged, the motion of his shoulders sending a slight ripple through his sinuous body. "I was told," he said vaguely, "that most of our kind -- the P'an-lun as a whole, I mean -- have a tendency to congregate in this area. That there were temples, settlements in the mountains... I'm usually a wanderer by nature, but it's a lonely life, and I do find myself craving conversation and companionship."
"Still," he continued, letting his eyes drift upward over the cliffs around the lake, "I've yet to find any trace of another soul -- save for your fair self, of course."

"hmmm" she thought of anything like that, "i tend to be a loner also." She fluttered her wings before continuing, "Some are not that forgiving of my wings."
"tho," she flexed her body, "i don't fully use them for flight more for show, I like them of course I've never not had them." she shrugged, "its not really a bother if i help you, though by the sounds of it that temple isnt a easy find." She glanced around the lake, "ive yet to find more of anything either."

Reynardine gazed at her in bewilderment for a moment at her startling admission. "Forgiving... of your wings? What's to forgive? They're nice. You were born with them -- they're part of you, and they fit you." For once, the statement was not only sincere but without any shred of conniving in it -- he was genuinely confused. No one, after all, had ever made a fuss over his tail... Noticed it, yes, remarked upon it, yes, but when he thought of someone possibly thinking him inferior for it, or somehow wrong? Well, it was absurd. He wouldn't stand for it -- and some part of his ego rebelled at the notion, thoughts crowding at the back of his mind that no, if it were him, they wouldn't, no one would dare.
Eager, however, to brush aside that topic, he latched on readily to the new one offered, brightening. "Would you really? I'd appreciate the company. I bet we could find someone who could help us, for sure, between the two of us!"

she sighed "maybe i don't stay around long enough for them to give there thoughts on them."
Fluttering her wings she moved a bit up "and i meant it by i would help you look, it sounds rather fun." She stared at his tail for many moments, "well as odd as your tail may be its very dashing." with a light chuckle she flew up higher before making lazy circles above him. "now maybe we should get looking before we become distracted..." Tho she had no clue where to start looking.

Reynardine seemed a bit taken aback for a moment, then his grin grew broader at the compliment. In one quick motion he leapt into the air in pursuit of her, looping as well to mimic her motions.
"...Perhaps we should pick one of the nearby mountains to search? Supposedly there are temples at the summits, though I can't say I've ever tried to go so high." He didn't seem overly concerned by the prospect, though -- it seemed simple to him for a creature with flight and control over the air itself to scale something like a mountain. It had only been lack of interest that prevented him from trying before... as a result, he really had no idea how far away or how high they were.

"hmmm." she glanced at the peaks well hidden in the clouds, she never strayed up there either seemed to cold for most things. "well i wouldn't think they would be to high, from what ive heard the air becomes a bit harder to breath." she scratched her chin, "but im sure they get used to that?"
she glanced over at him then shrugged, "its a starting point yes." she glided a few more feet forward before glancing around. "As i see it," she tilted her head to look at him, "if we get bored we can always turn back."

Reynardine laughed aloud, nodding. "Yes, it should be quite an adventure -- and you're right, we can always turn back if it turns out to be more trouble than it's worth." He turned his head up to gaze at the nearest peak, then shot Ryleni a sidelong look, the glint in his slitted eyes turning to mischief.
In one sudden smooth motion he darted forward and lightly brushed her shoulder, then twisted in midair and shot off upwards towards the mountains, calling back over his shoulder, "Tag!" A childish game, to be sure, but Reynardine was in some ways a very playful creature. And besides, if she reciprocated...
...well, he always found it enjoyable to be chased by a pretty girl.
