Hey guys,

As you all know I'm a girl and I like to keep in shape, currently I'm 9st and a half but I want to be 8st / 7st. Currently I'm doing a lemon Detox diet which is going really well, i've lost 7pounds so far Hurrah! Still more to go though, just wondering if you guys know of any healthy recipes or tips or any diet experiences you'd like to share.
Also, your thoughts on the size 0 thing.

I'm on a diet. Everyone technically is, since a diet is merely a pattern to your food consumption. My diet consists mainly of pizza, sandwiches, and sprite.

Eat vegetables and fruits.

Lay off sweets and fats.

Exercise.

Miracle diet, I swear.

I'm a vegetarian, so I never really have to worry about being OVER weight... unless I eat too many sweets... XD

Pretty much what Rae said.

Veggies and fruits are great snacks to eat in between meals, especially veggies (celery is like negative calories, haha). You could actually eat all the veggies you want, so if you're feeling hungry, even though you just ate, then grab some veggies.

Sweets are a no... Not just chocolates or candies, but sodas and pastries too. What you should stick to is water. Water is the best, because it helps with water weight and, well... It's completely natural and healthy, haha! I'ma slap junk food here too. So no chips and whatnot.

Exercise, definitely. Seriously, it helps. A majority of my weight loss was during the time I exercised, but now... Since I'm ultra lazy... I'm stuck at 200 pounds. I should've been 180 by now, but uh... yeah... World of Warcraft FTW (don't play WoW, it'll ruin your diet, haha).

Also, carbs and dairy are bad. Stay away from bread, rice, noodles, etc. It's just extra and unnecessary. Like water will expand the bread, making you feel ultra full, and on top of that you've already eaten whatever, so yeah.. bad, haha! And milk and cheese aren't great either. I suggest artificial cheese (if you HAVE to have cheese) or very little cheese and soy milk.

I pretty much did this for a year and, well.. 100 pounds later, I could honestly say it works. What I did everyday 'til this day was eat a bowl of cereal, like corn flakes or specific diet cereals, with soy milk or two eggs and variety of meat (turkey or chicken) and veggies (but remember, very portioned). After that, I'd eat a fruit like an apple or orange or whatnot, for lunch I had either a lean pocket or lean cuisine or a salad, and after that I had another fruit or veggie. For dinner I would eat either a salad or a lean pocket/cuisine, but that would depend on which one I had for lunch.

I suggest you buy vitamins and whatnot, 'cause you'll be needing those since you wont be receiving as much.

It's amazing how little you could eat and feel full. Don't think you need to eat 'til you feel full. You'd be surprised at how much food we actually need to feel full. So eat SLOWLY. Trust me. You'll notice the difference. It took me like 30 minutes to eat like a 6 inch sub and I was done... Haha! And the water helps, 'cause it'll make you feel full faster.

I think I covered about everything, but if you have any questions, just let me know, ma'am. I'll be more than happy to help out in anyway I can. 3nodding

Meant to cut out...? o.o;

Just a couple tips I've picked up from my cousins(All female).

Yes, drink a lot of water. At first, you might gain some weight from retaining the water, but after a while, your body will realize "Oh! She's still drinking like this, we can let the water go!" and then you'll be peeing a lot o.o But it helps.

Also, DON'T avoid carbs! Carbs are the energy for the body! You need the energy from carbs to actually function normally. Cutting back a bit is okay, but don't avoid it, cause it isn't unnecessary(Volt! shame on you!)

Okay, so the last one came from my mother the nurse, but whatever.

The dietitian told me to avoid all breads! D: I mean, when I started this diet I wasn't like 30 pounds overweight, I was... like... 130 pounds overweight. So... Yeah... Actually... Yeah, maybe avoiding carbs isn't exactly what you need to do. I was a bit on the extreme side, so it would make sense for me not to eat bread. But, like Byne said, cut back on some still. Just eat enough, like the daily requirement or something.

Oh, I forgot, fiber is your friend. o.o;

Also, carbs and dairy are bad. Stay away from bread, rice, noodles, etc. It's just extra and unnecessary.

I'd argue against this? Japanese people have the lowest obesity rate in the developed world (3%), and they eat rice like it's going out of business. o.o And french people eat creamed stuff all the time (10%). And dude, they eat hot chocolate, croissants, and nutella for breakfast.

(America's is 33% or higher, so ya know.)

Cutting stuff OUT of your diet is probably not a good idea. Not even sweets and stuff. If you purge yourself of things you like, I think you'd be more likely to "break" your diet, so to speak. Plus you need the protein and calcium from stuff like milk, and carbs can energize you, and I think they have stuff like fiber... I'd just do a little research about which dairy is best (and of course go for low fat and such if it's available), and when you go for carbs, go whole wheat.

I'd advise moreso looking into diets that work with limiting portions, like WeightWatchers, but there's plenty of other books about limiting portions and choosing healthier foods. (French Women Don't Get Fat, The Portion Teller, the Portion Plan)

Also, there are books that give you suggestions of little changes you can make to lose weight. One is "Eat This, Not That". Just little things, like eating a croissant instead of a muffin, can cut down your calories.

Yeah, the portioned thing is a good idea too. My friend lost a whole lot of weight by eating small portions throughout the day. So he wasn't looking at 3 meals a day, he was looking at like 6 small meals. This'll help your metabolism. He also worked out, which helped a bunch. Cardio is a good way to lose weight, but you could toss in some weights probably too, 'cause you'll lose muscle.

Hot chocolate, croissants, and nutella for breakfast? They're crazy... I have no idea why Japan's and France's obesity rate is so low... They are more active they we are I'd assume. All I know is that the Dietitian told me to avoid carbs and sweets, so I did. XP

And yeah, it's hard to stay on track. I know I've broken my diet here and there 'cause I saw something I haven't had for awhile and I was like, "Oh man... I want it." ...so I had it, haha! But I'd still suggest the cutting out part. And you could still get the protein and calcium from other sources. Like I'd buy calcium enhanced soy milk (so I would get my calcium AND I'd get protein from the soy), and you could get the protein from meat and whatnot, unless you go vegetarian during this whole diet.

At the end it's all about will power. You have to choose between how you'd feel now and how you'll feel later, you know? You could have your daily dose of sweets and junk food now and feel all good, but later you'll start noticing the difference in your health.

Volt, YOUR weight loss goal was huge, so you needed lots of results and fast. That would require cutting out food groups. That doesn't work for someone just trying to lose a couple pounds. o.o You don't wanna just be slim, you wanna be healthy and happy. For NORMAL weight loss, talking a few pounds, you don't need to be so extreme. I know this; I lived in the library and read a helluva lot of diet and health books, trust me.

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Nutrition-Dieting-939/Soy-vs-Skim-Milk.htm

Soy's not really better. O_o

The only books I've seen that cut out carbs totally were... well, frankly, they were more extreme diet books that... well, they'll help you lose weight maybe but it's not the kind of diet that's gonna keep you healthy and PERMANENTLY slim... not in your case, I don't think...

And there's plenty of research that shows chocolate is good for you in small portions, so... O_o

Touche, Rae... Touche... >.>; Would it be safe to say to avoid certain foods, but not totally cut 'em out? In Fuujin's case.

Actually, I suggest going with the eating lots of small meals o.o I used to be average, but with my growth spurts I had to(or felt like I had to) eat more, so I'd snack constantly throughout the day, and still do. Of course I still get yelled at because I'm not seen eating a lot, but I actually do eat...

Anyways, not I'm actually a little slimmer, and have muscle tone, but that's probably a combination of my eating habits and my work(which is basically a physical labor job), so I suggest the wroking out/exercise some. Not like "I'mma run 5 miles!" kind, but maybe "I'm going to go walk around the neighborhood for a bout 20-30 minutes". Well...that's what I do, cept usually about 45-60 minutes...

Yeah, cardio is the best. My dietitian suggested like 20 minutes, but someone told me it wasn't enough. So try aiming for 45 like Byne said. At one point I was doing 4 miles a day. Hopefully I'll do that again, haha!
