Alazne's breath was ragged and fast-paced as she dodged through trees and brushes, moving as fast as she could to get away from the small village she'd just been to. Her history of running from one thing or another was made apparent with how quickly the screaming of the 'taur who'd been following her faded into the background. Finally, she skidded to a stop in a very small clearing at the base of the hill she'd run down, and she smiled cockily in the direction of the village. Trusting that it would be remarkably easy for her to escape anything -she was rather arrogant about that part of herself- the young wolftaur sat in the clearing and tore into the skewered meat that she'd stolen from a small set-up in the middle of that town.

Her stomach growled noisily at the reintroduction of food, which she hadn't had in about three days. Everything she got, she usually had to steal. She was fast, but she wasn't the most clever, and hadn't the slightest idea how to start a fire. Picky even through starvation, however, Alazne was not going to eat something raw. Regardless of how much she needed the food. She tugged up the shoulder of her too-large grey shirt, accidentally jingling the small piece of chain that was attached to her metal collar. Her ears perked up, and she glanced around, as though she'd heard something, before she cautiously went back to her meal, eager to continue moving.

The lazy foxtaur was snoozing comfortably against a tree, green form curled into a fluffy ball upon the mossy ground. It had been such a strenuous day! First he'd enteretained a handful of youngsters with a tale while their mothers had gotten some chores done, then he'd wandered around for a comfy spot to settle down in. Thus, he was completely and utterly sound asleep when the wolftaur came bounding down the hill.

Never one to startle awake all in a rush, his conciousness drifted towards wakefulness slowly. Eventually his ears twitched, catching the sound of movement and enthused chomping. Dragging his eyelids open lacksidaisically, he let his eyes focus on the form crouched not terribly far from him. He assumed his natural coloring and stillness in sleep had camoflauged him, but he wasn't one to snoop and skulk. Giving a great yawn, he stretched each of his six limbs, plus his tail, arching his back and flexing his toes.

Smacking sleepily, he sat up and stroked leaves from his tail, completely unconcerned about the stranger that had wakened him. The sun, of course, had shifted while he'd slept, and what had once been a lovely sunny spot to bask in was now a rather chill nook. He gave a shiver, running one hand through his mop of deep green hair. He blinked in slow succession at the newcomer. "Hello there," he finally intoned, appearing bleary and not exactly fully awake. "When did you arrive?"

Alazne was in no situation to be bothered by someone else as she ate her deliciously cooked meat. Various thoughts wandered in and out of her head, but she ignored them for the most part, as they were irrelevant to the current situation. For example, whether or not she should stop being so picky about her food. Maybe she should learn how to make a fire, or drag either a naga or a cattaur around with her, having them preform magic tricks of her. Of course, nagas were far from good company, and cattaur were quite lazy. At least, the ones she talked to were. They just slept and bathed occasionally. There were times when they would actually do something interesting, but all the ones that she found who did things just did parlor tricks for shows, showing off about what they could do that no one else could even think to manage.

This process of thought was cut short with a movement seen from the corner of the wolftaur's eye. There was a 'taur. On her right side, only a few feet away. How could she have missed that?! She swallowed the food in her mouth, a few strips of meat still on the skewer, and she flattened her ears, staring at the green-camouflaged foxtaur. Her gold eyes traveled across the strange markings on his body, the bizarre colouration. She was trying to decide if he was a threat, but it was impossible to tell. He could have made the markings himself simply to hide and ambush anything that wandered into his midst, but it could have just been that she wasn't paying enough attention to what was in front of her, and too much to those who were following. She stood, a front paw pushing the meat off to the side, where she could grab it and run if the situation called for it.

"I only just arrived, Sir," she said quietly, her voice holding a low growl that never left. Still, her respect was impressive for that of a teenager, but it was how she behaved. Everyone was above her, and she below them. If she ever wanted to get anywhere in the world, she would have to remember that. If worse came to worse and a betrayal was needed, then they would already trust her for her manners and kindness, would never notice any objection she ever made. Her tail arched high, the fur along her spine bristling up. Her eyes sharpened a bit, distrust flickering in the murky amber depth of the one visible to the older foxtaur. Her tail swished a bit, and she pulled the collar of her shirt back up, covering her uncovered shoulder.

"And yourself? When did you arrive?" she questioned, tilting her head in the way of typical childish curiosity. Her brown hair tipped away from an eye, showing off both of them. If he'd been there the entire time, she would forgive him. And if he'd arrived at the same time she did, she would have to be wary. If he arrived immediately after her, she would bolt, needing not a single breath of air to contemplate if he truly was a threat.
