Reese found it sort of funny that ever since getting sick, he spent a good chunk of his time visiting DCorp. Even though he hated the place. Hated the walls, the halls, the techs. Right now there were only two things he liked about it...one being his friend Saedah and the other being his dragon egg. Which he couldn't wait to see hatch. He was planning on moving down to the pool area when Sea Bright finally came home.
Not that he'd told his father about it yet, but the day would come.
Anyway, Reese was just coming back from a visit to his egg. He was actually trying to find Saedah's place...and ended up getting horribly lost. Sighing some, he was trying to find a tech to ask for directions, but no one seemed to be around.
"One more hallway," he said to himself. "If I don't find her thoon, I'll just go home." The seahorse boy wheeled himself down this second to last hallway...carefully rounding the corner. It took him a while; he still had trouble moving his wheelchair with one hand.

If Reese had trouble with his wheelchair, Kate had nearly twice as much. Thus far the girl had managed to zigzag down the hallway and in her attempt to turn the corner, she had gotten a wheel stuck on the edge of the wall.
Under strict orders from the physical therapist to let Kate do it herself, (not that the chihuhua would accept help anway..) T'rin had secreted himself in hiding at the end of one hallway.
"TURN YOU - YOU - THING!" Kate shouted at her chair, engrossed in the struggle to get through the hallway and to the elevator. She was tired and her head hurt and the contraption just wouldn't move straight.

Reese jumped in his spot on the chair, large eyes blinking as he peered around the corner...and saw another kid in a wheelchair. And not that other sea horse girl he'd met when he was smaller. Man, she looked familiar. He definitely felt like he'd met her before, but he couldn't really remember where...
Wheeling himself backwards, approaching the corner from a wider angle so that he could easily get around into the hall as well as face the girl, he took note of her situation. He could see where the problem was: the treads on the wheel weren't letting her turn it out away from the wall. He sort of grinned at himself, remembering when he used to get stuck like that trying to get into his room at home.
But then thinking about home made him sad, so he wasn't going to think about that right now.
"You're thtuck," he said carefully, trying to be helpful. "Roll backwardth, then try turning your wheelth out again." The usual bright smile wasn't there...how strange. He was just sort of there, looking at Kate almost expectantly. And why wouldn't he be? He'd been rolling himself around since he was a toddler.

The four year old scowled and crossed her arms at Reese's suggestion. "Don't help. I can do it," she snapped. For a few moments more Kate struggled before giving in and trying the seahorses suggestion. Unstuck from the wall she glared at Reese and started to drunkenly make her way down the hall. Straight was not something she had quite accomplished yet.

Reese blinked a bit as she snapped at him...but was quiet as she got herself unstuck. Then, watching her roll down the hall, he continued to think on where he knew her from. Well, not like Saedah expected him to come for a visit anyway. He decided to follow the puppy girl and find out where they'd met before.
"I know you from thomewhere," he said, easily keeping pace with her. He was behind her, of course, seeing as the hallway barely supported one wheelchair, let alone two that were side by side. "I dunno where, though. Do you remember me at all?"

Kate grit her teeth and looked around for her Daddy. He should have been there. "No," she lied, too cranky to try and prolong the conversation. The chair took a sudden jerking to the left and ran straight into the wall. Snarling at the wall, Kate pushed backwards suddenly.

Reese gave a yelp as Kate rolled back so suddenly, definitely following behind her too closely. His tail narrowly missed being smashed between their two chairs, having curled it up as a defensive reflex when he'd seen the possible danger.
After getting jolted about in his seat, Reese would shake his head to clear the double vision before looking at her with...pity? No. Sympathy. He knew what it was like to figure out how to move these stupid chairs.
"They're thupid," he said with a tinge of sadness, running his fingers over the armrest of his chair. "I uthed to run into thingth all the time. But I don't really have a choithe, yanno?"

Kate slammed her hand down on the chair in frustrated agreement. "Very. stupid," she nearly growled. "Hate it. Hate it. Hate it." The anger in her voice was very close to tears.
"I miss running and it's all the stupid meany tech's fault!" She shouted, as she slammed her fist down on the chair again. Just wait until she got close to those techs. Just 'cause her feet didn't listen.... She could still bite!

"Yeah," Reese said distantly. "At leatht...well, I dunno. I've never known what it wath like to run. Maybe it'th better that way. Then I dunno what I've been michthing."
He'd never thought of it that way. At least walking or running wasn't something he'd lost.
He glanced up at Kate again, offering his hand her way in a hand shake. "My name'th Reethe. What'th your name?"

"Missin' lots....." Kate muttered balefully, wishing one of the techs would come around the corner right now.
Still hidden behind his corner, T'rin bit down on his lip, trying not to cry as he listened to his daughter.
The four year old half-glared at Reese, the simmering temper mollified by his apparent sympathy. "'m Kate. Cassi's not here," she added on informing Reese of this.

"Nithe to meet you, Kate," he said with a half smile, trying to be polite...as his ignored hand was lowered to his side.
And then, he almost seemed perplexed. Kate...man, that name sounded familiar. And he knew he'd seen kids like her running around before. Actually, he sort of remembered her from The Virus thingie. Maybe that's why she couldn't walk anymore? After all, he couldn't feel things like he used too...
"I dun know a Cashi...but I think I know you. You thure we haven't met before? Caush I feel like I've met you before."

"Dunno..." Kate muttered, crossing her arms. "Mehbe when everyone was sick," she offered. She didn't exactly remember much of that. Other than not being able to have her Daddy come in and then feeling so bad. But.. that was pretty much the only time she could think of being in D-corp with lots of other kids.
