Jericho Zigs did not look like someone who'd be a computer sciences major with a minor in special effects and movie production. He looked like a complete dimwit if one told the truth. His favorite jacket to wear was the football jacket the college he attended issued him - mostly cause it was comfortable - and he tended to be surrounded by gaggles of girls (usually due to him helping them with their homework or working on projects together for class).
That day was no different - he and six of his female friends were seated in a cafe discussing the production of a movie they'd all recently seen. It was a habit of their group (since all of them were in some sort of position to do with acting) to go see the newest blockbuster movies together then essentially rip apart the movies afterwards in a nearby cafe. They'd go over everything from the acting quality to the scripting to the special effects. The current movie they were discussing was "Waiting For Rain", which, though popular actually left a lot to be desired with them.

Tyler did not often spend her money on outside food, but god damnit, she'd had a rough day. Pants splattered with water and flecks of dirt from an unwieldy bus, she tramped into the cafe, ordered some soup and a smoothie, and then tramped right back out to try and find a seat. All taken. Good Christ.
It was then that something caught her ear. Waiting for Rain? Well, it'd come out a few weeks ago...she hadn't seen it in theaters herself; only at the premiere. She'd never get used to seeing herself on screen. Either way, she snuck a bit closer. Hrm?

"I do believe my favorite part was when the one chick got shot. She had a reaaaaaaaally annoying voice." Jamie 'Freckles' McGee said calmly, taking a sip of her coffee.
"She only had two lines!" one of the other girls intoned with a slightly annoyed voice.
"Two lines too many, in my opinion. Ain't I right, Jeri?" Freckles asked, tapping the jock guy on the arm. He'd been quietly drinking his cocoa till that point and had no real interest in speaking.

Tyler's brow furrowed. Really? She'd only ever heard that her voice was 'too loud'. Never annoying. She thought it was fairly deep herself! She moved behind the girl and raised an eyebrow, clearing her throat. She still had remnants of black in her hair from the role, and it was styled the same as it had been in the film...as it always had been, actually.

Jamie turned around and half jumped in her seat. "God! It's the annoying b***h! DO NOT SPEAK! SERIOUSLY! THE ANNOYING WILL BE OVERWHELMING!" The way Freckles' tone went up when she spoke, the high nasal-squeak her voice possessed, and her rather unattractive face revealed the real reason for her criticism. Jamie was jealous - she was almost always rejected even for character acting and had a horribly annoying voice, so she was often critical of others who had similar faults.
Jericho shook his head a bit. "No need to be rude, McGee." he said queitly, not really looking up from his cocoa.

Tyler blinked and resisted the urge to punch the girl. Sure, people gossiped about celebs...but what right did they have to b***h about a nobody?
"Eh, whatever. Was my best death so far. Squib burned, though." And she turned to try and find an empty seat somewhere. Anywhere!

Jericho noted the lack of seats in the area and stood, motioning to his spot for the woman. He was getting bored of the discussion anyway. Jamie was a lot less constructive with her criticisms when Melissa wasn't around to keep her in check, and Lissa had a cold that week.
"Take my seat." he offered calmly.

Tyler shook her head.
"No, man, no need. I can eat in my car." And then she noted a nearby empty chair. Hrm.
"Or I could nab that." And she shuffled away, spinning it around and staring to eat from her lap. She was still nearby, open for conversation.

Jericho just shrugged and turned to his table. "Did anyone want refills, while I'm up?"
A few of the girls nodded and handed him their cups with huge smiles but he just nodded at that before going to get the drinks. It was when he returned that Jamie spoke again.
"Jericho, why the hell did you go and offer her a seat here? She's not part of the group!"
"So? There weren't any others and I was getting ready to get a final round and head out anyway."

Tyler crinked her nose. Really, how could they stand that girl? She bad-mouthed her in her head, but stayed quiet. it wasn't her place to argue with people she didn't know. Especially when they looked younger than her.

"God, Jericho, I do not know how you can be polite to such people." Freckles grumbled, turning up her rather large nose with a sniff.
"Easily. I'm used to dealing with you." the young man's voice had taken on a slight growl in tone, as he finished handing out the cups and stood up to his full, large height. "You do realize, McGee, that most of us only put up with you because of your sister, and your closed minded idiocy is actually quite irksome to the rest of the group. So if you want to keep hanging out with the rest of us, particularly when Melissa isn't here, I would suggest shutting your pompous little piehole and listening for a change. It might fill your empty head."
and with that he was walking out the door. The other girls would be following him - they weren't half as stupid as Jamie and actually agreed fully with him - but they had to finish their drinks and had rides to wait for.

Tyler perked. Had that guy just defended her? ...in a varsity jacket?! Huh! That was pretty noble. Working on impulse, she scampered after him, sipping what was left of her smoothie.
"Hey. Thanks."

Jericho knew nothing of this lady. He wasn't a huge critic of acting and apart from having seen her in a few movie roles, didn't know her from Adam's house cat. But Jamie was a b***h and bitchy people pissed him off. But that didn't really explain to him why she was thanking him.
"Um...you're welcome?" he said with a shrug.

Tyler frowned, stopping in her tracks. Man, that was kind of rude. And embarrassing. You couldn't forget that. She gave a little hum of derision and turned back for the cafe.

Jericho raised an eyebrow. "Um........okay. Well that was odd." he mumbled. "Why exactly are you upset with me?" he asked the woman, reaching out and stopping her for a second. It bothered him not knowing why he was in trouble, particularly with people he barely knew.
