Sometimes Nara researched where the scrolls where. Sometimes she got calls from people trying to find out what the strange paper in their attic was. And sometimes, like today, it just happened.

Galad and Liliedhe weren't the only ones who had stopped for lunch near the library. In fact, Nara had already been enjoying her lunch break when the pair had sat down near her.

The sudden throb of familiarity caught at the woman and discretely she pulled out a cell phone. Punching in the speed-dial, Nara summoned her partner.

Several minutes later a figure dressed in loose black pants, and a concealing black cloak threaded his way through the lunch crowd and unerringly towards Nara.

Catching sight of him, Nara waved him to the seat opposite her and leaned forward. "There's a scroll nearby. I can feel it," she gestured towards the crowd. "We can go along and ask..or we can try to trail it when it moves."

Iian turned his covered face towards the lunch crowd and shook his head. Nara sighed and nodded, leaning back in her chair. The two had reached an unspoken agreement. It was far too crowded here even if they did manage to find the scroll. And if Nara didn't know where it was, she wouldn't be forced to unseal it in the middle of a crowded square.

You really didn't want to leave the Templar's big invitations like that...

Galad ate his sandwich, but kept wanting to take out the scroll and look at it again. Something about it drew him, and the only reason he didn't do it was because he knew that it could be damaged by the sunlight. And he didn't want that, not after his sister had paid so much for it... his hand kept twitching as he ate the sandwich.

Lil looked at her brother. "Hey whats up? You're all twitchy today. Excited about that scroll?" she laughed. "Thats great. Not only did we find this place, but I managed to buy a great present for you. I bet you can't wait to pour over it in that hellhole of a mess you call home."

"Its not a hellhole..." said Galad defensively, "Its a 'collection'." He sighed. "It's a little dissappointing, actually. Just an image of a firefly with a few symbols..." then again... he thought to himself, now that I think about it, its far more interesting. I don't know those symbols, but what if I did?
He sighed again inwardly. Maybe it had some hidden meaning or something. Something that was hidden in that comparatively uninteresting image of a firefly...

Nara sat there fidgeting as the lunch rush slowly began to subside. Soon the plaza was only half empty and the woman had to resolutely keep her eyes on the table. The strange itchy-throb that told her there was a scroll here hadn't left yet and she wasn't taking any chances until it moved to a more private location.

Galadheon finished his sandwich and leaned back.
"Mmmm.... I don't think any of your trips could beat this, Lil! Egypt and sandwiches go so well together... unlike curry and the Great Wall of China."

"Hey..." says Lil, her sandwich finished a minute ago, "It wasn't that bad...."

"oh yeah? you didn't eat it! You didn't have to have 'stomach problems' while walking across it..."

"Heh... Your right."
Lil smirks at her brother.
"Hey! Look. We're in Egypt, not china. You've always wanted to go here! Lets go see a few more sites while the Club is still paying for it."

"We'll come back here later? maybe at sunset? I want to see the sun set over the nile, just for the memories..."

"Sure! Wanna go see the Valley of the Kings first?" she asked, standing up and turning a map over and over in her hands, "Do you think its close enough to see today?"

"The way you drive, Lil? Mount friggin Rushmore isn't too far away." Says Galad, grinning and standing up. He almost forgot the scroll, almost. But he didn't, and he slung the case carefully over his shoulder, even as he jogged to catch up with his sister.
"Wait up, Dammit!"

Suddenly the sensation began to move. Startled Nara attempted to jump up, and keep her eyes on the ground simultaneously, resulting in nearly falling over.

"Come on." she hissed, jerking at Iian's head to foot black covering. The woman bumbled through the grounds, not looking where she was going, only following the vauge feeling of familiarity.

Iian reached over and grabbed Nara, shoving her behind him. "You see them?" she asked quietly, glad to look at her partner's back and not the floor.
The man nodded as he weaved his way in and out of the dispersing crowd, catching up to the pair.

The two continued on, Galad almost jogging to keep up with his more-atheletic sister.
"Seriously, Lil! wait up!"

"I'm walking slowly! its your own fault you can't keep up!" She looks back to make a face at him, and stops in surprise. then she quickens her pace.

"Hey! Your doing that just to tick me off!" says Galad, huffing and puffing with exertion. He knew he was in terrible shape... he should've gotten out of the house more...
Maybe that new gym....?

Lil shook her head. "I think some guy in black is following us. Probably crazy... I mean, nobody in their right mind would wear all black in this heat..." she murmurs.

Galad looks back. Sure enough, there was a man dressed in black coming through the lunch crowd, coming closer.
He tries to go faster, but his legs hurt already, and he was getting more and more separated from his sister.
"Coff... Cofff... come on... Wait up lil..." he pants, almost stumbling.

Lil looks back. "Hes definitely coming towards us, you idiot! keep going!"

Iian reached back and gently tapped his partner's arm. Nara nodded, not that he could see her, and tried to think as they continued following at a walk. They could let the pair go, following the pull until it reached a less crowded area, or they could call out and risk exposure in the admittedly thining crowd.

Taking a deep breath, Nara moved out in front of her partner. Waving a hand high in the air she yelled, "Excuse me!"

Glad just couldn't do it anymore. His lungs felt like he was going to cough them up. "Lil... I can't.. *coff coff* he pants, hands on his knees. he looks back. Now there was a lady yelling out. Was she looking at him?

"You idiot! Now they'll catch up!" shouts Lil... but she wasn't going to leave her bother behind.
she runs back to her brother, who was standing and panting in the middle of the road. jogging back the ten feet or so that her brother had been separated, weaving through the crowd. quickly and keeping an eye out for the guy in black.
"idiot. Come on." she says, grabbing him by the arm

"But Lil... that lady; I think she wants to talk to us." protests Galad.

"What lady?" says Lil attempting to drag her brother along.

"That... Lady...coff... coff... she was waving us down..."

"Its a city street, Galad. you don't stop for anybody... unless its your out-of-shape brother. come on." she glances behind at her brother, then at the figure in black.
"I know you haven't been outside your house in a while, but you haveta have street smarts... hang on... is that the lady you were talking about? near the crazy guy in black?"

She could still see him in the crowd, almost.
she could see the lot where she had parked the old car, and was hoping to reach it before the crazy guy in black caught up.

"Something wierd's going on."
something about the whole thing unnerved her.
She walked faster, forcing poor Glad to move his achy feet.

"Liiil...."

Nara grimaced as the pair moved farther away. No way was she going to lose them and suffer until the scroll resurfaced. Picking up her pace the woman hurried after the pair, calling out once more.

"r...Really, lil... We should see what they want..." said Galad, turning around at the call, then back to his sister as she yanked him forward. His lungs felt like he was going to cough them up.

Lil rolled her eyes. "Why? They're crazy people!" She hadn't realized her bother was this stupid.

Galad couldn't stop, he was stumbling along too fast and his sister had his hand in a vice grip. "But... The lady looks harmless... Can't we just talk to them?"
He had that feeling of stumbling on something important, like he did when he was about to translate something interesting.

Lil muttered something about stupid brothers. "They all look harmless." she sighed, resigned, and yanked him faster. he did seem distressed...
"Fine, if they're still following us when we get to the car, we'll talk to them... through a cracked window. C'mon."
They were nearly there.

Fully exasperated now, Nara shoved her hands into her pockets and began rushing to catch up. Her foot steps pounded on the ground angrily as she began to slowly close the gap between her and the pair up ahead.

Lil grabbed the car door, unlocked it as quickly as she could, Fubling the key. she unlocked the back door and shoved Galad into the back.
"Remember, only through a cracked window."
she grumbles, getting behind the wheel and locking the doors. Against every instinct that she had built up during years of travel, she turned the car on only the appliance setting.

Galadheon opens the window a little, then a bit more. They couldn't be as dangerous as Lil had said.
He put the scroll's carry case down carefully next to him, pulling a random blanket over it to hide it, you know just in case it was valuable.
The lady and the guy were still following?! and tghey were only a few feet away!
He felt nervous, suddenly realising that this could have been a bad idea... But... If they were that determined...
"Hello... Whats going on?"
he calls, still breathless, to the lady who was pounding towards them.

She had hostile parents before. Parent's she had to trick into accepting the duty placed on them by fate, god or whatever you wanted to call it. Never before though, had Nara had to chase down a scroll like this.

Thrusting the simmering irritation and anger away where the itching resided, the woman took a deep breath.

"I'm Nara. I work as a researcher at the Royal Library of Alexandria, researching and recovering scrolls from the time of the original library. My partner," the woman waved at Iian who was catching up at his own pace, "and I noticed that you have a scroll. We were wondering if we could take a look and tentatively date it." She smiled disarmingly at the man, ignoring the grump in the driver's seat.

Galad's eyes lit up with delight. It was rare for him to find people with a passion or even an interest like his! Lil was interested in the aquiring and the background, her whole paranormal club was. The museums were interested in the history and the storing. But, it seemed that he was the only one interested in the THINGS themselves.
"See lil?! I told you they were harmless!"
He unlocks the door.

"Now wait just one minute, Galad..." Sputters Lil. How could her little brother be so stupid?!

But he had already gotten out of the car with the scroll, too giddy about actually reading the scroll with someone who knew what they were talking about to listen to his big sister. She wouldn't understand anyway.
"All right. What are we looking for to date it?" he asked eagerly.

Nara nearly spluttered herself. That was all!? No identification, no proof of where she worked, nothing!? After all that chasing around, and the man just jumped out after one little sentence?

Nara stuffed her hands even firmly in her pocket and tried to sort herself out. "Well," she stalled not particulary wanting to explain her rather unique and accurate method, "I suppose checking the writing first. Language changes fairly quickly and only a master forger who's also a historian would be able to duplicate that. Then looking at the scroll itself, the material, how said material was put together.. Carbon 14 would be a fairly incontestable method but that requires destroying a small part and it would take quite a lot of time and effort."

Nara paused thoughtfully as she stared at the casing of the scroll, "If we can narrow it down to within... oh... 500 years, give or take, of the time the Library was around then I'd suggest going for a more exact method. It would be a little silly to do all that work if it was just a forgery from say, the 1800's."

By now her partner had caught up to them and stood overlooking Nara's shoulder. Gently Iian tapped the woman on the shoulder. Glancing up, Nara gave him a nod, and the man moved off a little ways to give them room.
