In this thread you can talk about the differences between the English manga and the scanlations, and stuff such as that.

Getting that out of the way, make sure that you--

DO NOT POST SPOILERS!

You are permitted to talk about nothing beyond what's currently released by Viz.

If you feel the need to mention something more then that... try not to, but put up a spoiler warning in red above it, and then/or just white out that part of what you say. You can white them out using a simple color code.

The above is that code.

That being said, enjoy the subforum and don't pick on those who just follow the Viz released or anything, or I will bite yer head off!

I dont understand why it always takes so long for mangas to be officially
translated and released in english.

I mean, its not like we are retarded/poor idiots who dont know a good manga when we see it. My biggest complain is, how come the chinese gets theirs the same time as the japanese??

Take DN for example. Book 8 is now in both Jap/Mandarin. Look where we're at? Book 1. How surprising.

Time, money, and work go into translating. Before a company would even think of working, spending money, and usin gup their time to bring a manga over to America and translate it and everything, they have to know it's worth it and will be a success.

Now, before that they did release some of it in Japanese...

Oh and let's not forget that Death Note is a sort of odd manga compared to most of what I see in book stores and all.

French tends to release stuff faster, too... Though as far as I know, DN never got picked up in French... But I know Fruits Basket in French is just, like, 1 or 2 books behind the japanese release.

So... yeah, back to DN, did anyone else not know about the first chapter? The way I had followed it before it came out in english, I had the pilot chapter for the first chapter, and the series started at chapter 2. So... yeah, the first chapter was totaly new to me. sweatdrop

Still doesnt explain why Taiwan/HK gets theirs simultaneously with Japan.

Well, my guess would be 'cause it's more popular there.

Naota would be too if she came around as much as she use to. I'll have to keep harassing her about it...

Eh?! You must find it! The pilot is awsome!

Not as awsome as the rest of the series, granted, but it was awsome enough to get me interested...
