In three days it will be November first. That means it's national novel writing month. Participants have the entire month to write a 50,000 word novel.
I'm going to be trying this just for fun, as any 50,000 word novel that I manage to crank out will be largely incoherent nonsense.
I'm just curious if anyone else knows about national novel writing month or cares to participate.

I'm doing NaNo too! Up to 1767 words so far. biggrin And what I've got so far is a piece of crap, too. It's my somewhat main character going on and on about how gorgeous the other main female character is, while he's getting peeled out of the bloody, broken glassy backseat of her boyfriend's car. (Somewhat main male character is a ghost, recounting the night of his death, just to clear things up.)

i've only got 970 words, but i haven't written anything since yesterday. I'm going to take some paper and write if it's slow tonight at work. Here's my user link for NaNo: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/445053

Well, I hand wrote 6 pages at work today. (it was slow at the end). Not sure how much that adds. I think I'm just going to keep handwriting and then I can type it up on my days off.

I didn't know about this at all. I'm not much of a writer, so I wouldn't be participating either. How many pages (Word document) is 50k? It seems very daunting. 0_o;
Overall, the idea sounds really fun and let us know when you've completed the full thing. (I couldn't see any of the written piece on the link you gave.)

the link was just to my nano profile.
I did the math and you need to do about 1,600 words a day or 12,500 a week. and that's roughly 2.5 pages a day and in the end you should end up with around a 75 page story.

Actually, it's a minimum of 1,667 words per day to meet 50,000 by the 30th of November.
If I had a dollar for every word I've written this year for NaNo... I could feed a third-world country. I'm so proud of myself for my current word count of 11,349, considering last year I barely made it past 2.5K. I'd give up right now, if it weren't for the fact that my vlog project buddies on YouTube have permission to punish the pants off me and make me do a bunch of embarrassing things if I don't reach 50K by the 30th.
The things I do for those amazing people... heart
EDIT: Btw, onicoe, I added you on NaNo, so if you get a request from someone named Meaghan_D, it's me. smile

awesome i'll accept then.
I'm currently stuck at around 8 k. I can't seem to find a beginning to start with and everything else is just bungled pieces of middle. It's certainly a lot harder than it looks. neutral

It really is... I'm just over 12K, and this is the third time I've screwed my story over and began with another one. I like this one more than the two others, but that's what I said about the second one. =/ Go figure. I think this third one has more of a story to tell though, once I get down what I actually want to happen.

I think I've finally figured out that I need to shorten the time span in my story. It makes it at least seem more plausible than trying to tell the story of something that stretches over a long period of time.

I'm so horrible, I've "given up" already. But I don't feel bad about it, I feel way better.
