It depends on what you like. If you love vampire's then go read The Vampire Armand. It is very descriptive. I had one of my friends start to read it & she wouldn't give it back till I told her it was due.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Johnathan Stroud is really good. Starts with the Amulet of Samarkand. Check your local library.

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King - 7 books - completed. Kushiels Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey - 6 books - incomplete. Wild Magic series by Patricia Jo Clayton - 2 books - unknown.
((The following are on an "If you haven't already read them" basis))
The Lord of the Rings by J R R Tolkien - 4 books including The Hobbit (originally 7) - completed. The Chronicles of Narnia by C S Lewis - 7 books - completed.

Tuck Everlasting Harry Potter Behind the bedroom wall (About The Holicost and the jews) Narnia The Tree Sheperds Daughter and Into The wild wood Any Pirate of The caribein books
(But then again this is what I like. Though I do recommend Tuck Everlasting The beginning is soooo boring but, it gets a lot better.

Seems like I keep making my rounds on this subject, but
PHILIP JOSE FARMER'S Riverworld Saga
SyFy Channel (back when they were Sci-Fi Channel) made a (somewhat) poorly adapted original movie if your familiar with that. The books are amazing.
I doubt you'll find anyone who read them that hated them.
