i study media and i was just going over my notes. it said while there are male heros over the age of 30 there are no female heroes over 30 [charlies angels elektra buffy etc].. i was wondering whats xena's and gabby's [estimate] age in the show? i kinda want to contest that claim since xena was kick a** and all that.
edit:and how old is lucy?[at time of show?]

Well, let's see now..
Let's assume that Xena was 16 when she first started fighting. A couple years later (after her pirate/ceasar fling) she became evil and in cahoots with Alti to become the destroyer of nations. I'd say that took up a good five years of her life (With going to Ch'in and all with Borias, along with going all that way to kill those northern amazons) during of which she had Solan. Let's say she was 19 when she had Solan. And he was how old when she came back to visit? 11? 12? 13 even? So by season 3, my guess is that she was already 30.
Not to mention the being frozen in ice for 25 years.
Xena is ooold.

Considering Gabby is about 18 when they meet I have always assumed Xena was around 25 when the show started SO by the time it ended she was over 30.

She certainly looks like it. 3nodding i dont think she realleh looked 30 ninja i kno in deh last season they used a SUPER clear camera so she probably just didnt look as airbrushed whee but besides her hair and weight i think she looks deh same as season 1 3nodding

A little unrelated, but if you have to do a project or something you can point out how hollywood ages women. In one movie Sally Feild was tom hank's love interest, a few years later she was his mother.

It's true that Lucy Lawless doesn't look that much older now than she did on the show. Her look has changed a bit, but it never has aged her at all that I've seen. However, I do remember thinking how old Renee O'Connor looked when I tried to watch (unsuccessfully) Bogeyman 2. And I don't mean in comparison to when she was on Xena. I mean, it was the look of someone that when you meet them, you think they're in their forties or fifties, but really, they're only in their mid-twenties. It was gross, really, and probably why I couldn't watch the movie. Bleh.
What about like Storm and Dr. Jean Grey and Lara Croft? Wasn't Storm, like, super old? I don't like this game, it's making me angry!
