She does have some fun with her style taking punk influences and making them into more sophisticated clothes. She is a very creative person despite her nit picky attitude. The only people she is out to impress are her clients so in general she walks to her own beat and cares little of what others think. She can come off as being sarcastic if you catch her in a mood and aside from her stress induced lash outs she is fairly calm and polite. The woman in the painting is said to be Cassatt's sister, Lydia.
Cassatt's career and paintings
The Cup of Tea is an example of her earlier impressionistic style. Mary Cassatt was the only American invited into the independent group of artists known as the Impressionists by Edgar Degas.
