The forest smelled wonderful.
Padding along silently, Arashi wove his way around three both large and small, breathing deep the scent of wet soil and foliage. It had rained recently, much to his pleasure; everything had that fresh sort of feeling to it.
As he pushed towards who knew what, the qilin shook his mane lazily out of his eyes. He had made it this far into the forest and so far he had seen nothing; the place couldn't be completely empty now, could it?

[forgive me, my roleplay skills are slightly off]
Satoshi stepped back out from under a thick tree branch after the rain shower and shook off excess rain droplets from his mane. The grey colored stallion stood in the sunlight peeking through the canopy.
Today is going to be wonderful...
He took a deep breath, suddenly his ears perked up in the direction of a sotly cracked twig. His tail swated a mosquito as he backed up slowly.

Not realizing he had made any amount of noise, Arashi continued on, barely catching the movement of another in shaded light of the area. Pausing his stride, he moved forward, ears pricked in the direction of where he thought it had come from.
"May I ask who else wanders these woods?" he called, voice nearly melting into the landscape, "Friend or foe?" He certainly wasn't looking for a fight, and hoped that whoever or whatever it was had the same mentality...

Head poking out from under the branches, one of Satoshi's horns gets caught on the branch. Making a whole ruckus because he couldn't get free.
Snorting and pawing the ground, he paused and gave a final snort with his antlers still stuck in the tree.
"It is I, Satoshi. I am a friend."
He spoke with a sense of eloquence and gave another snort in hopes the speaker was also a friend.
