Kidondo.
Regent Kidondo.
Only now was he beginning to feel like he was something. Not a ruler as such; but a builder, a worker. Someone who was working alongside others, driving something that would be far more grand than anything this world had ever seen.
He smiled contentedly.
"Soon we'll no longer need to fear others anymore. We'll have an army, a council and we'll be strong. The Firekin will be a strong pride again, a fearful force." It was true that Kidondo was not bloodthirsty or driven by lust of power. He was a cool, collected character. However, he could not deny the firekin blood in his veins. He could be pushed but he had a tipping point like any other. He was a rational sort of guy but he would not take any more threats to his people.
He paused to look across the slope of the land and released a roar. Not an unhappy, angry roar. A roar to express his joy.

A good-natured chuckle would catch his ears soon after that joyful roar.
The dark-furred lioness sat just behind him, watching him with amused crimson eyes. " This mood suits you well. I must say, it's far better than your earlier temper. " Kibela had been a bit worried for her... brother. But it seemed her worries were unfounded. The more the price strengthened, the happier he seemed to grow.
A smile tugged at her lips as she rose from the sand, padding over to his side. " Good morning, Kidondo. I would ask if you are well... But I believe I've already found the answer for myself. "
The lioness had been hoping to come across him again for a while now, though she had not actively sought him out. She did not want to interfere with the many tasks that needed his focus as Regent of the reconstructing pride.

He turned an ear towards her and a moment later his face followed. He had a proud jaw and a rather kindly expression for one who was supposed to be a fierce Firekin. But that look was rare. It was saved only for his most treasured friends.
Kibela was one of these treasured friends.
"I am in good spirits this day." He replied with a rumble, turning to face her as she moved to his side. He reached out and buffetted his forehead against her cheek.
"And how are you, oh wise advisor?" He gave a little bow and a chuckle had his whiskers twitching with amusement.

She was happy to return the affection, and just as quick to flick her tail out, swatting him for the remark. " I am quite fine this day, my dear Regent. Things are going well with the pride, yes? " She asked as she shifted her body down to stretch out in the warm sand.
That was something she could not get over. Something she so adored about the desert. The beautiful sun, the heated sand. He restless body found great relaxation in this setting, finally mellowing out that sharp temperament of hers, if only a little.
" I've been quite please with how the Old blood, and the New blood have been adjusting to all the changes in their lives. I had my worries at first... But it truly seems to be going well. "

He smiled with his eyes and sat himself comfortably, curling his tail loosely around him in the sand. "Very well, in fact. I think this is the beginning, Kibela, the true beginning. Things are settling and soon everything will begin to slot into place. There are going to be ranks to fill, cubs to raise and borders to patrol. The Firekin will grow to be something again." He shook his head. "I won't let my people be forgotten again."
He tipped an ear.
"I'm glad you have the same feelings, Kibela. It is good to know it's not just me seeing things that I want to see."
He paused and cast her another, curious look. "Have you met young Azarax yet, by any chance?"

" I don't think you would dwell in false-hopes, Kidondo. What you see must be the reality as it is. Because you are strong enough to accept it, good or bad. Even if it is now how you wish it. In this case, we are blessed to be around many strong lions who are willing to deal with this change together. " While she was happy for her new pride, she was absolutely joyful for her brother, her sole reason for being here to begin with. If things went well for him, then she could be pleased with it.
" Azarax..? " She murmured thoughtfully, before shaking her head. " No, not directly, at least, though I have seen him in passing. A strong young lion, for sure. " She commented, ears perking in curiosity. " What of him? "
It seemed a bit of a random change of topic, though... Perhaps they had seen him fit to take on one of these ranks Kidondo sought to fill? She did not voice her thought, remaining relaxed at his side, and awaiting him to continue.

"You have much faith in me, Kibela." He replied. "Thank you. Truly. You have done so much for me. I just hope someday I can return it in full." He nodded to himself. "No feels the same, too, I'm sure. Your council is of such value to us. More than you know, I think."
He thought of his mate, his sharp-minded mate and smiled gently. "She works very hard." He continued softly. "Sometimes too hard. I'm glad she has you there to help her when things get tough."
He drew patterns idly in the sand with an extended claw, twitching his nose thoughtfully for a moment. "Yes. He's on a task at the moment. A task to prove his worth. We're considering him for the position of General. I wondered what you thought of that."

" You were the first to show faith. To take me from my meaningless existence . As such, I am still working to replay you, Kidondo. " She chuckled, head tilting in thought when she was asked of Azarax once more.
" He is young. Not the most experienced of choices. But then, that is why he is a good choice. He will remain more neutral to the blood, having not gone through as many of the hardships with his pure kin. He will not be likely to favor one side, or the other while leading the army. " She looked up to the sky, flexing her paws into the sand. " And, with his youth, he will be a strong, stable support for many seasons to come. He can quickly gain the needed experience, and grow even stronger as he ages. A very good candidate indeed. "
She knew little of the younger lion. But she did know of his strength, and his spirit. She could see no stray path that could lead to ruin from such a choice.

He shook his head slightly. He didn't feel that she needed to repay him by any means. "Don't worry about it, Kibela. We needed you, too, you know." He replied softly.
He paused as she expressed her thoughts on young Azarax. "He will be a neutral ally, most certainly. Pure blooded firekin with a pelt of a rogue. He's a good link, a good go-between. I know he will do well in his task."
He added. "When you have time, maybe you should introduce yourself to him? He'll be sitting on the council alongside No and me." He hesitated. "Will you walk with me a moment? I would like to find No but I also want to talk with you."
He stood and moved softly off.

" Hmm. I will seek him out, and meet him. If only for the sake of confirming my judgments. " She agreed, giving her consenting nod at the offer of a walk.
The lioness rose easily to her paws, following on at the other's side as they hunted down the Black Cat.
" What is it you wish to speak to me about, Kidondo? The topic seems to be a heavy one. " His hesitation was quite obvious to those crimson eyes.
She felt it unlikely to be something bad though. She held no worry or stress over the topic as they moved through the sand. Her eyes remained on the land in front of them, simply enjoying the walk with the Regent. She'd had little chance to enjoy his company lately, and there was no way to tell when something would need his attention once again.

[[ <33 Not sure when you guys wanted me- so feel free to continue on with the RP and discover No whenever the timing seems right.~]]
On no shortage of business herself, No was returning from the sands. Apparently there’d been some conflict with a stray rogue; but getting much coherency out of Kaanga was not a task for the faint of heart. But from what she had gathered, it had been little an issue, and No was pretty content to leave it in Mzaa’s capable hands.
She’d heard Kidondo’s roar in this distance. It wasn’t quite a beckoning- but it was high time she checked in with her partner and compared some notes. Some lunch wouldn't have been bad either, she thought. She'd been awfully hungry lately.
So while Kidondo and Kibela set off to find her, No directed her path in their direction. She didn't rush it, however- and slowed her pace to enjoy the hot sun on her back.

"It's nothing to be concerned over. In fact, I hope you will find it good news." There was a twinkle in his eye. "Don't worry, the mystery will be over soon enough. No wanted to be here when we gave you the news."
He cast a look around expectantly, wondering where best to track down the black female. The water hole? The den? No, she'd probably be busy guarding or something of the like. She wasn't a resting type, that was for sure.
A few moments later and his suspicions were confirmed. "Ah, there she is. Busy as usual." He chuckled, unknowingly quickening his step. It seemed to him that she was enjoying the sun and he purred at the sight of its brilliant gleam against her pelt.
"We were just coming to look for you." He called, slowing as they neared. "I told Kibela that we had some news for her." He reached out to touch his forehead gently against hers.

She smiled warmly as Kidondo picked up his pace to meet his mate. She followed after him more slowly, turning her eyes to the black cat. " No. You're looking well. " She greeted, stopping a few paces from them to sit herself down in the warm sand.
She was quite curious to know what it was the two of them had to tell her. A few things jumped to mind immediately, but she brushed most aside. Most were unreasonable.
Perhaps No was pregnant? That would certainly be good news, but no, she doubted she would be receiving that news just yet. Ears perking slightly, Kibela gave a curious tilt of her head, patiently waiting while the two exchanged their greetings.

"Uh oh," She teased as Kidondo bumped his head against hers. The reason for Kidondo's searching brought a pleasant smile across her face. She was glad she'd been able to be around to give Kibela the good news as well- which despite what Kibela might have been wondering, had more to do with her then anything.
"And yourself," She said to Kibela as Kidondo pulled away. She smiled as Kidondo pulled away. In the motion- she also sat, curling her tail up and over her hips. "Yes- I would say we do have some news, Kibela. Although I'm sure Kidondo is enjoying the chance to drag it out." For some reason things never seemed quite so formal with Kibela. Perhaps it was due to the closeness of the young rogue and Kidondo. Something which No supposed she could be jealous over- but by nature, No had found she perhaps suspicious of all things except her relationships; and least of which Kidondo. It was a bit like Kaanga, she supposed. Sometimes Kibela felt more like another of her sister in laws rather then a stranger.
She looked over to Kidondo with a smile. "We have a bit of a proposition for you- but I am sure Kidondo has worked out most of the details." She thrummed.

With a smile he copied his mate's motion and sat beside her, shoulder to shoulder. He felt most at ease when he was close to her. It was as if he was completely whole when he had her nearby.
"Enjoying? I wouldn't quite put it like that." But the twinkle in his eye suggested that he was enjoying this. Apparently there was a mischievious streak in the young Regent.
"Some, but not all." He replied. "I know I've told you this many times before, Kibela, but I'll say it again. We're ever thankful for your friendship and support - through everything that has happened. It makes life easier knowing that we have friends like you to rely on. Kibela, you're a sister to me. More sister than a friend. Your words of wisdom and scoldings have been well needed. We needed them in the past, we need them now and we'll certainly need them in the future. No one can say what is going to happen but one thing is for certain. We need lions and lionesses we can rely on."
He paused and cast a glance at No then returned his gaze to the other feline. "Have I spoken to you about the possibilities of a council before now, Kibela?"
