Her nose to the ground, Corgi moved swiftly through the woods. Her steps had a sense of urgency to them, her ears were pricked up. It had just been days ago that she had come into posession of a smaller pup. With the instinct to gather food for it, she was out on a small hunt. but she had the sense that she was not alone this time.
Turning towards her left she snarled out whose there

"Where...where am I?"
Two bright emerald eyes cautiously peered around, surveying the peaceful forest landscape; large, leafed trees seemed to touch the sky overhead, casting blotchy shadows onto the brush-covered ground. Birds chattered above, and a few small animals quietly scrambled about below. Nothing seemed an imminent threat.
A deep breath could be heard being exhaled. All was calm, nothing was wrong.
But the question continued to persist: What was this place? He couldn't seem to remember. Everything had gone black, swirled away into nothingness. After what seemed like an eternity later, he'd woken up...here.
Kovu silently padded on, his mahoghany coat rippling in a gentle breeze. Whatever this wood was, it seemed cozy, needless to say. Might even be a nice place to settle down, at least for a while.
Wait...what was that?
The wolf's ears swiveled forward, his nostrils flared. That scent? Another wolf was here. His fur began to bristle, without thought. Boldly, he continued moving, determined to seek out this possible friend or foe.
"I'm not an enemy. I'm just passing through here." He growled in a low tone, his first statement hardly believable judging by his rather rigid stance.
But then again, one could never be too careful.
((Sorry that took so long. XD))

passing through are you. Corgi replied, her fur still on edge. She squatted near a tree, eyeing the new wolf. He was dark colored and gave off a strange scent, which proved that he telling the truth about just passing through. Relaxing a bit she decided a chat couldn't hurt. There wasn't any prey around at the moment anyhow.

"Yes. Yes I am." Kovu spun around, trying to pinpoint the sound of the wolf's voice. His eyes darted about, but he couldn't seem to find the one in question. Had he or she donned some kind of camoflague, perhaps? He sighed, apparently giving up, and simply continued to speak, hoping this strange wolf would emerge from the foliage eventually. "And to be honest, I'm not exactly sure how I got here, either. Could you please tell me where I am, oh mysterious voice from the trees?"

Deciding to stop toying with him, Corgi stepped out into his view. She was a tri-colored wolf, the colors being brown black and white. Why you're in the western part of the shaolin woods.

"Shaolin Woods... hm..." He repeated thoughtfully, turning the words over and over in his mind. Nice name. But it was a nice place, so it seemed awfully fitting. His dark tail swayed back and forth on the ground, creating two small heaps of dirt on opposite sides of it.
After processing and memorizing the title of his new environment, his focus turned back to the wolf who'd finally made her presence known. Interesting patterns...so she WAS kind of camoflagued; he was right!
...not like he was ever wrong. Anyways.
"My name's Kovu. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression to begin with, I'm not exactly used to 'socializing' with other wolves. ...and your name is?"

It's Corgi she informed him. And no need to apologize, seems we both have being social as a weak spot. Stepping a bit closer she settled down on her haunches. So Kovu, is there any particular reason that brings you here?

((GAH I DELETED MY POST >___>))
"Nice to meet you, Corgi." He replied with a swift nod of his head, before shaking it gently. "No, not really. I'm not exactly familiar with the area, so for now, I'm just doing a bit of exploring." The wolf flashed her a large smile, showcasing crimson-stained canines. He'd done quite a bit of hunting in his lifetime, apparently.
"How about you, hm? What's a lady-wolf doing stalking around these parts alone...? This isn't some sort of trick, is it? Your mate lurking somewhere nearby, waiting for me to let my guard down so he can kill me, or something?" His eyes narrowed suspiciously at his counterpart. You could NEVER be too careful, right?

She gave out a barking laugh. Mate? No I'm quite mateless and packless. I happened upon an abandoned wolf cub the other day and I was going out hunting for her. she replied with a toothy smile of her own. You wouldn't be up for a hunt would you?

"A hunt, hmmm?" The brute's eyes sparkled deviously. He LIVED for the hunt. It's what had kept him both mateless and packless for the span of his adult life. The suspenseful stalk, the rush of the chase, the triumph of the kill, the warm blood running from the newly slaughtered corpse; it was all so thrilling.
"Of course I'd be!" He replied without a second's worth of hesitation, his grin widening. "What're the little cub's tastes? I'm sure I can catch anything."

Right now I think she'd eat about anything. Poor thing is half starved. she explained. Rising she arched her back a bit, getting out the kinks. I'll settle for a rabbit but I won't shy away from larger prey. she informed him. In fact, I rather prefer it.
Walking back into the woods she called over her shoulder coming?. She didn't bother to look back, she knew he'd follow.

"What are you considering, then? A deer, perhaps?" His voice dropped significantly, as if not wanting to scare away any prey that could perhaps be moving about nearby. He straightened up, and quickly followed after his female hunting-partner, gliding silently over the twigs and leaves that peppered the forest ground.
"Shouldn't be TOO difficult to find one if it is what you want; there seem to be a lot around this time of the year."

A deer would be a good of enough feast for the three of us she agreed with him. Finding one would be challenge but Corgi was always up for them. There may be many around but there is always the threat of man. He hunts the deer also and seems to like to take shots at us too. But luck may be with us this time. I was headed out towards the river. We may get one there she told him, her paws stepping silently on the ground.

"Good idea." He whispered, his tail swaying back and forth gracefully as he trotted gracefully alongside Corgi.
Wait...the three of us? Had he actually been invited to eat with them? He'd simply figured he was to hunt, and once he'd served his purpose, would've simply moved on.
And still...it'd be nice to have a nice meal and a place to stay for the night. Or however long.
The sound of water cascading over rocks and dirt soon drifted to his ears, giving the impression the river was VERY close by. Just beyond a border of bushes, no more than a few feet away from their current location.

I have a few good ideas from time to timeshe smirked. The smell of the river hit her before the sound of the water running did. Slowing down her pace she took in the smells very carefully.
She could smell a faint odor of fish, which meant that a bear had feasted here earlier. The bear's scent itself was a few hours old, so she knew it was long gone. Unfortunately there was not a whiff of deer.
Motioning to Kovu, she moved up to the river and got a cool drink. Just because there weren't deer here didn't mean they weren't upstream. At least they were downwind of any potential prey.
