This is a random OC, and the line art is extremely old; but, she is wearing one of my first clothing designs, and I wanted to do some flat colors and see what it'd look like. So, I won't be changing the line art at all, but advice on the colors/color sheme of the character and clothes is most welcome~

When doing shading of the skin, I learnt that if you make new layers, with each new shade, and use gaussian blur (Unless you like it all on one layer) it gives it a smoother look! The dodge/burn is really awesome for making things really shiny too, like on the corset, if you wanted to make it more metally. OR you could just play around with the blue for a smooth look.
For clothes, you could go to the filter, add textures. (But do this on another layer, and set as multiply or colour dodge) If you go onto another layer, you could add patterns (make your own custom ones by selecting a bit, edit, add to pattern, ect) and then set that on multiply/colour dodge so it comes up on your corset~

I actually haven't started attempting to shade yet but that pattern idea makes a lot of sence 3nodding and what is a "gaussian" blur? sweatdrop
